    • EVO programmer needed

This may be the wrong place to post this, but I suppose it's worth a shot.. And if it's too inappropriate, one of our friendly neighborhood mod-people can move it or lock it or whatever.

I'm looking for a programmer. I've given in, thrown in the towel, and admitted defeat. EV-Edit has bested me. As has Resedit. And EVONE isn't finished yet. I want to have the first module of The Great Conflict completed by christmas, preferably far before that. I have most of the graphics completed and it won't be hard as it's relatively small, just an 'intro' to the world of the Great Conflict.

If anybody would like to work with me on this, please reply or give me an email.

    • There isn't really much programming to be done in EVO.

The most difficult part for most people is missions. You really can't do them in EV-Edit because that part of it is too buggy.

I always used Schmelta-V, which was reliable, although I know there have been some new and exciting things out.

With Schmelta, it was just a question of point and click at where you were starting from, where you were going, what you got when you went there and what other missions you had to do before you got it. All very easy really — but I do agree that it's next to impossible in EV-Edit.

BTW, what's your plugin about? If you want someone to proofread your text later on, give me a shout.

Well, the plugin is a total conversion. I decided to try to tackle it using EVONE, that being the least buggy of the available options for me. So far, i'm having trouble with systems, planets, and the galaxy map, though I'm sure I'll have more if i try to do more stuff than that :p. What i'd really like to do is replace the original graphics etc. from EVO so that i have a base to work from, but the only thing i can do that in is EV-Edit. Which happens to be the most buggy piece of shizznit ever... blah.

So basically what i need is for someone to put in the systems, ships, and missions based on info I would give that person. I would then go in with schmelta-v and make any changes to missions necessary to fit with the overall storyline of the series (which is really too long and drawn out for me to explain right now and isn't really very relevant at this point anyway). I doubt if it'd take much time since it's really pretty small for a TC. -.-

Unfortunately, yeah, schmelta is out of date for EVO, and contains an annoying bug where the cargoload thing doesn't plug in the proper value. Not a big deal- you can go back and fix it later in Res, but the biggest flaw is the fact that Schmelta only allows up to bit 256, whereas EVO uses up to 512..

That said, I programmed Reigns 1 and 2, and the earlier version of F-25 in it..

Can you give me an example of your work, preferably one that is more than just a cheat plugin or 'add one ship' plugin or the like?

    • I might say, I'm learnng java and I've been doing so since last year. I can't say i can help you efficiently, or at all, depending if you're using java or not. Java's easy, there's no limits in what you wanna do, and you only need a Texteditor and a Terminal.

Mission Computer V.3 is out and it is excellent. I have had problems with the Galaxy Editor but EVONE can do that. Why not attempt to use a combination. EVONE has a brilliant interface and the resources it has full editors for are very easy to use, Mission Computer has a larger range of (also very excellent) editors including Outf, misn (obviously), spobs, systems, cron, pers, dudes, fleets and others I can't remember right now.

My Nova TC has been made mostly with Mission Computer, a little help from EVONE and some tinkering in Res-Edit (since neither manage graphics particully well).

Anyway thats just my ten cents worth
