    • EVO for Mac Os X

I've been waiting for practically 10 months for EVO for Mac Os X. My favorite game is getting uncared for! My beloved UE destroyer is getting rusty and the turrets are waring down! PLEASE let it out soon (or tell me about in how much time it will)!! I beg you!

    • EVO runs quite well in Classic.

    • Indeed. To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans to release EVO for OSX, as rewriting EVO for OSX would require about as much effort as rewriting it for Multiplayer - something that will not happen. There are surely emulators avaliable, and I think (I'm not sure) that OSX may come bundled with Classic in certain situations.

There's already a publicly-available unofficial port of EV Override to the EV Nova engine (available (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=26")here(/url)), and the official one doesn't seem to be too far off ((url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2153")read more...(/url)). EV Nova, of course, can run natively in Mac OS X.

    • Yes, but that's a port of the EVO scenario to the Nova engine , not a release of the EVO engine for OSX. But you raise a good point; I didn't think of EVO TCs for Nova, and I wasn't aware that there were any completed.

Well, Mac OS X updates are usually of the latest version, and I don't see any reason why the Escape Velocity engine should be any different. As far as releasing the EVO engine for Mac OS X, I see very little reason to believe that will ever happen, especially given that Ambrosia has now accepted a redefinition of the first two games as free plug-ins for EV Nova.

    • Dudes, take a look at the FAQ boards for all of Ambrosia's older games. It states that there will be no carbonization due to the fact that since the compilers used to build the programs don't exist anymore, it would require the game to be built from the ground up.

I get it now; the secret of Kont has something to do with duck feathers, a cross-eyed bull and a pack of Milk Duds. Am I right?

Erm, you might point out from now on that the unoffical port is still in development. It's actually still buggy.

You could even use my Pilot Converter utility to turn your EVO pilot into one the EVNgine will recognize. That way, if you play with the EVO port, you can use your old pilot still.

    • The problem is that Captain hector keeps killing me since I haven't played for over a year and I haven't registered.
And yes, maybe I'll convince my brother to install classic again... 😄
