Do the shells have any significance other than getting you more money?

Yes, you get the Seashell Grinder from the travelling salesman. You can use it to make a powder that gives youdouble the experience from killing monsters when it wears off. Make sure you save before you use it because there have been complaints that sometimes it never wears off.

The seashell grinder is an add-on in Trinity. So if you are playing a non-trinity
game, seashells are only good for selling for money. If you do have and are playing
with the plug-in however, then grind 'em up.
