    • Raigar

In Raigar, sensors apparntly dead beyond a few feet, the Igazras fired their spinal beams at the nearest enemy ship, facility, or outpost they could find that looked to be military.

(OOC:Or in otherwords, waiting for gordontron to clear up where his stuff is)

      ----

      Dogover

The Hegemony fleet had arrived in Dogover, following the route the humans had given it. The station looked to be of Voinian design, but it claimed to be independent. This could be sorted out later. For now it was time to scout the Voinians out. The hegemony fleet decloaked far from any ships, the Hegemony Jammer ensuring anyone that did point sensors in the fleets direction for no reason atall would just see static.

      ----

      Himgro

With a burst of energy, the Hegemony fleet arrived in Himgro, not attempting to mask its presence in the slightest. With seconds of it arriving, a hail went out over Miranu space.

"Your leaders have seen fit to assist the Azdgari leadership, and allow voinians access to your space. Thus you will be absorbed into the Hegemony. Do not attempt to resist."

The Hegemony fleet stayed where it had entered, waiting for a reply. The fleets Igazras had swarms of troops waiting to land and ensure the Miranu leadership did not try anything. Miranu space would be pacified.

This will allow hegemony ships to fire faster, improve their weapons damage, have more powerful shields, regenerate shields faster, and increase power to engines. The major problem will be refitting all ships with this technology since the technology is already well understood.

    • The Shaltrę and the President's were in council. Much of the council was a disorganized mess, but Alenia waited calmly, watching everyone try to settle down. "Please, everyone, we should take our seats."
"What's the point? We're done for. We'll be sucked up into the paranoid worlds of the Igadzra. Where will we go?" this was the one of the wailing Shaltrę, by the name of Ferkath.

Alenia sat down, and most the others did the same, while some tried to panic again, receiving glares from their neighbors around them.
Alenia tried again. "Yes, we have no hope to keep these planets, but-"
"And it's all your fault too, we should never have tried to keep the deal!" Ferkath again.
"Or perhaps it's yours, for trying to seem like we were keeping the deal when we sent that fleet to Raigar." She brought up that point. "Now, as I was saying, we will have to give up all of our planets, but the Miranu citizens will be evacuated. To F-25. I know it may not fit everyone, but it will simple be a base camp. I once wondered if we could get beyond the nebula's, perhaps to the next star cluster over, the next galaxy. You will take all of our researchers, and as much equipment as is possible, to F-25, and find out how to get to where I want you to go."

There was silence for a minute, except for a few sobs, as everyone thought about that. "There's no guarantee that the Igadzra don't have their own way to get in a nebula. " Someone pointed out.
"True, but do you have another choice? We can see other stars, through telescopes, we can see stars in other galaxies through telescopes. You just need to build something that has enough power to get the Miranu there. There's no guarantee that it won't be just as bad there, but since they haven't come here, I bet they can't get into their nebulas, and you can settle there."
"You say you, shouldn't it be we?."
"No, I'm staying on Mira. Kynaria can be President. I'll become a regular working citizen of Mira. Oh yes, to make sure that at least they don't know specifically where F-25 is, all military facilities will be destroyed. I already sent encrypted messages to all the planets except Himgro and Blaga, and they all have their own ways of destroying their information centers. Mostly, they'll make bombs, or have a ship destroy the facilities."

"We can't just destroy them, they have everything in them!" The Shaltrę looked like it was about to go up in flames itself. Alenia shook her head.
"You'll never be coming back here, so what does it matter? The only people with the information will either be going to F-25, or they will be me, and I'll just be a regular citizen of Mira, one of those who refused to believe the Igadzra were coming, or wouldn't leave their homes. They'll be plenty, and those who won't fit on the ships. You'll be fine. Now, Put the Research and Development teams on a few Heavy Freighters, and have them start working on the trip to F-25. I'll send messages to the Azdgari, Voinians, and Zachit, giving them a everything we have so far, though it's not much. They to will have the NPD after this. If a ship doesn't have a NPD, make sure that it's near a ships that does, so that it can follow. We don't want anyone getting lost. That's it then, let's get to work, I've already sent out evacuation notices, so people are already streaming towards ships. They'll still be a billion or so left on the planets, because they'll refuse to leave, but perhaps the Igadzra will still let us trade."

(-The Igadzra have come to Himgro, and are asking for our surrender. We cannot fight them, we know that. So we are evacuating to F-25. Only Himgro and Blaga have not got that message, because neither of those can, Blaga would have to pass through Himgro, or at least in sensor range of the Igadzra, so we have to abandon those two planets entirely. In this message all of our technology is sent to you, and an explanation of F-25. It's a planet in the Ji Nebula. We hope we will have enough time to build something that will allow our ships to get to the next galaxy over. Or at least far away from this one. Also, the current President will no longer be President after the evacuation. I am staying here, and the Miranu will be under a new administration. We do not know if you will be able to contact us in the Nebula, but we hope the Igadzra do not have something similar to the NPD, because it is our wish to have enough time to build this. We wish you luck with your own ventures.-)

(This message has been edited by Larra (edited 05-17-2003).)

    • Indecision. Seleria hated it, yet it overcame her. The Igadzra were attacking everywhere she had once felt safe. To stay and help the Azdgari would condemn her. She was smart, but she would not be able to run forever, even if she survived fighting at Raigar. The Igadzra could not possibly know of her link to the Azdgari. Even if the renegades escaped to Igadzra space, she had had little to do with the Azdgari in their eyes, she was just an independant fighting against the renegades. Finally making a decision, Seleria set a course for human space. Comfortable as she was among different races, she missed human company. As Hyperion jumped, Seleria thought of those she knew who were fighting against the Igadzra. Gordontron, Kirk, Chatone, would she ever see them again?

    • The Shipyard Enhancement project has been completed, as has the research of the "Zigra" Beam Cruiser. The shipyard enhancement will take place during the next RTD, but resource allocations have yet to be made to aid in the construction of new Beam Cruisers. With the other two research slots empty, all research facilities are being shifted to aid in the research of the EM Shock Cannon.

And with defense fleets no longer needing additional vessels, the First Zidagar Armada has been greatly strengthened and is now a rather dangerous fighting force.

Project 1: Zidagar Battleship - 7 RTDs (completed on the 25th of May)
In an attempt to give the Zidagar some sort of large capitol ship, the scientists are now beginning research on the Zidagar Battleship; a massive, powerful warship capable of tearing most smaller ships to shreds in seconds. Loosely based on the retired Zidagar Cruiser design, decreasing research time, the Battleship also incorporates aspects from the Igazra. It's stats are as follows:

      Zidagar Battleship (under development)
      Shields: 650
      Armor: 50
      Regeneration: 300
      Speed: 175
      Accel: 350
      Turning: 3
      Weaponry:
      6 Phase Turrets
      3 SAE Launchers + 60 Ammo
      1 Spinal Beam (large type)
      4 EM Shock Cannons

Project 2: Zidagar "Thael" Elite Fighter - 7 RTDs (completed on the 25th of May)
Ever known for their speed, the Zidagar fleet concentrates more on smaller, more maneuverable warships and fighters, than on the massive armadas of battlecruisers of the Igadzra fleet. With exceptions such as the new Zidagar Battleship, the Zidagar fleet continues this trend, and is now working on updating their fighter technology with the new Thael Elite Fighter. Fast and deadly, the Fighter is extremely potent, even against the Azdara. Its stats are as follows:

      Zidagar ?Thael? Elite Fighter
      Shields: 26
      Armor: 0
      Regeneration: 22
      Speed: 500
      Accel: 1100
      Turning: 6
      Weaponry:
      4 Swivel Phase Cannons

Project 3: Shipyard Expansion - 7 RTDs (completed on the 25th of May)
Even with the latest enhancement to Zidagar shipyards, they are still lacking in some areas. One notable issue is that with all these new ships being developed, the shipyards aren't yet capable of producing them all. This expansion project will take care of that, increasing production value (per RTD) to the following:

      1 Zidagar Battleship
      5 Zidagar Carriers
      5 Zidagar Zigra Beam Cruisers
      30 Zidagar Zidaras
      45 Zidagar Aradas
      50 Zidagar Thael Elite Fighters

Alenia noticed the message from the Igadzra and shrugged. A little late there. Even the defence fleets had gone off loaded with people. All facilities had been completly destroyed. Well, Himgro could send the formal surrender, they still had communication towers. Mira certainly didn't. All that was left was the normal citizen houses, most of them empty of anything resembling belongings. Alenia shrugged. She was just a normal citizen herself now.

      Himgro
An uneasy silence surrounded Himgro. They had no idea what had happened, but they knew from the earlier message that a formal surrender was called for. And since it hadn't been issued...Well, maybe there was no one or nothing left to issue it. So Himgro sent a vague message, having an inkling of what had gone on in Miranu space.

The Himgro, knowing that that reprisals were going to be more than a threat, handed out weapons. They didn't have many weapons, and had to improvise using the medical facilities, and the medicines inside, mixed together the wrong(or right) way, made a surprisingly deadly combination, as the local animals founf out when the people decided to practice. of course, the few real weapons and these medicine guns were simply a desperate measure, and after everyone realized this, the population of Himgro hid inside their houses, nervously handling their weapons.

They quickly unloaded all 1000 swarm missiles they had, annihilating the majority of human renegade ships that came to halt the Alliance's advance. The warships unloaded 30 fighters while the missiles moved forth, and the carried reinforcements quickly bolstered the formation. Those renegades that survived were quickly swarmed over by the combined might of 80 Sunlances, recently upgraded to tremendous range and firepower.

The renegades were annihilated, and an Alliance base and shipyard facility was quickly assembled. Word was sent out back to Alliance command requesting reinforcements at this wayward colony, as there was evidence of human settlements, and no evidence was present that they would not shoot the Alliance. Lathe ek Daal was pleased when the shipyards and Long Range Sensor Distorters were finished, and more so when he began receiving status reports from the 15 ships he'd sent on to find the Voinians—reports that stated the cloaking device was allowing them to move through human space with relative ease. Although the ships could be spotted as they came into the system and as they exited, they could not be stopped before continuing on their journey. No hostile actions were made towards the independent humans.

      Present Day

      Pariah

"Alright men. The Alliance First Armada is here in Pariah, assembled. Half of the Discovery Fleet that took this system is on its way to locate the Voinians, and reports so far indicate we're getting close. They have recently entered a system known as Eltor, and there they have encountered trace amounts of Voinian patrols. Onboard trackers indicate that the pathway to Voinian space cannot be far from there, and I have instructed them to continue operating under the scout-by-stealth method they have used up until now," added Commander Lathe ek Daal. "Soon we shall find the aggressors of our allies, and deal out proper justice. Since they have the maps provided to the Igadzra by the UE, which our allies most graciously share with us along with all technology, the enemy strongholds will soon be found and scouted.

"I have received word from the Supreme Commander, via the reinforcements that have arrived here from nearby Alliance space, that we are to begin a large construction facility here. I will merely say that it shall produce enormous ships for our navy, but it will soon become apparent to you what the Supreme Commander wants. Now, let's get to work. Due to its intended size, it could take a very long time to build."

      Research Directorate Status Report

Point Defense Systems: Using the tractor and repulsor beam technology available in Igadzra space, the following equipment will be designed. A number of small low power, wide beam, tractor and repulsor arrays and extremely accurate, focused, but low power, laser batteries will be installed on the hull of the ship to be protected. Whenever any type of projectile weapon (i.e., rockets, missiles, SAD modules) enters the immediate vicinity of the ship, the PDS batteries will lock automatically on to it with a tractor beam or hit it with a repulsor beam, slow it down as much as possible, then destroy it with a highly focused laser blast. All batteries on the same ship are linked, and adjacent units can provide backup if certain areas are being overwhelmed. This system will be effective against all but the most massive of barrages. Alliance Aradas will be fitted with about 15 of these batteries, while Laziras and Crescent Warships will be fitted with around 60. Using the newly discovered mini-Emerald Fire reactors in use by the Igadzra now, each PDS system will be able to do its job excellently. At the end of this project, it will be installed on all Alliance ships in existence at that time, along with all applicable Hegemony technology, including widespread arrays of mini-Emerald Fire reactors to boost overall ship performance and installation of the Hegemony Jammers, and this too will be implemented on all future ships. (Begun: 5/18/03) (End: 5/24/03)

HLRAMM (Hyperspatial Long Range Antimatter Multidimensional Missile): To be referred to as Hellrams, these missiles will be the ultimate Alliance defense. Working on the psychological reasoning that no sane enemy would commit fleets when opposed with such a missile, the Hellram will contain a 1000 ton payload of the same antimatter material the Emerald Fire reactors run on, and will also have installed in it the same safety equipment that will siphon the energy involved in a premature explosion into the engines of the missile, making it merely shoot a far distance and do nothing if this ever happens, which is unlikely, considering its other armaments. It will be outfitted with the best Alliance tracking and sensor equipment, a cloaking device, and sufficient high-yield fuel to allow it to travel 15 Jumps through hyperspace, as well as being armored with a thick layer of Daalium plating. The missile is meant as a deterent to concentrated attacks against the Alliance. It is expected to be extremely powerful. (Begun: 5/18/03) (End: 5/24/03)

Pariah Launch: Although the Alliance has not yet informed all its people of what the construction facility is intended to make, the Alliance News Service has leaked that it will make fleets of Crescent Warships. It is expected to be able to produce large hulls quickly and efficiently, using the best of robotic means. (Begun: 5/18/03) (End: 5/24/03)

    • Universal Ascendancy: Conclusion

Several galactic standard years ago, the galaxy was divided between several strong factions. The Strand War raged as it always had, but there were signs that efforts were being made from all three sides involved to break the stalemate. The Voinians, facing an inactive United Earth, chose the ambitious strategy to explore the other regions of the galaxy, around the borders of their enemies. The Miranu and their Zachit allies worked a deal with the Azdgari and Zidagar to eliminate the North Tip Renegades, and, despite all evidence that suggested the two Strands would never cooperate in such a way, the treaty was ratified. The Rock was pacified and North Tip Station taken.

But new powers rose. From the Proxima Nebula emerged the Akrayhek Alliance, a totalitarian military dictatorship that was bent on unifying the Strandless of the South Tip. Their fleets, powered with new and powerful technologies, wiped out all the renegades in that area while simultaneously carving a substantial empire out of the myriad Strandless and renegade systems that existed there. To parallel the strangeness of the Azdgari-Zidagar-Zachit-Miranu alliance, the Akrayhek Alliance allied itself with the Igadzra Empire, which, undisturbed by the armies of either the Zidagar or the Azdgari, had built up enormous fleets and had outfitted them with terrifying weaponry.

The Igadzra Navy wiped out the Zidagar force, weakened and spread out as it was from the assault on the Rock, and soon also annexed the territories of the Azdgari. But the Azdgari had an ally: the exploring Voinians. The Voinians brought their new ships and technology to bear against the Igadzra, who, despite their powerful technology, had also lost many ships to the advanced weapons of the Azdgari and the new ship chassis of the Zidagar. However, the Igadzra’s main weapon, the supremely effective spinal beam, allowed them to hold the Voinians at bay long enough for the Akrayhek Alliance to deliver on their word to aid the Igadzra in any military way they could. It was not the Igadzra’s mighty, enormous fleets that defeated the Voinians.

For the Alliance had secretly developed their most terrifying and powerful weapon: the Hyperspatial Long Range Antimatter Multidimensional Missile (HLRAMM), or Hellram. The secret construction facility in Pariah, explained away to the people falsely as a warships construction facility, was actually geared towards making Hellrams. After one week of concentrating all their shipbuilding efforts to making Hellrams, the Alliance leaders fired them off towards the Voinian frontier. Utilizing hyperspace engines, the multidimensional cloaks that were the hallmark of all Alliance ships, and antimatter warheads, the Hellrams sped towards Voinian worlds and outposts through the cold void of hyperspace. Using the maps of the region developed by a small Alliance scouting party that had been surveying the Voinian territories under cloak for over a month, a force that had finally been killed off by Voinian ships that eventually caught on to the trick—but not before the Alliance was able to survey all of the Voinian Empire—the Hellrams were able to exit hyperspace and detonate exactly where they could be most effective: inside the core of a planet, or right inside the power core of a station. The kiloton of antimatter incinerated each station in an instant, and the ones that entered the cores of worlds caused titanic explosions inside the planets they exited hyperspace in—explosions so powerful they shattered the worlds they affected. The threat of the Voinians had been ended at last.

The Greater Crescent Hegemony and the Akrayhek Alliance, their pact of friendship now forever sealed, met at Council Station in the Gadzair system to discuss the meaning of the events that had unfolded. Agreement was reached regarding the millennia-old Gadzair Convention, a treaty reaffirmed by all nations present at the conference. However, the Convention was expanded, confirming the current borders of the two powerful technological empires, and the delegates there, the Kayan Supreme Commander Zathe ek Daal and Igadzra High Admiral Huan, pledged to use their nations’ might to keep the peace within the galaxy. The Strands had finally been unified, and it seemed fitting to recognize that at their birthplace of Gadzair, and the Strandless and Kayans, now a powerful and respected empire in their own right, were accepted by the Greater Crescent Hegemony as friends deserving of great honor. While the prejudices of centuries would take time to disappear, with such determined and powerful governments leading the way, it was bound to happen eventually.

Now the galaxy is reshaped. Old empires are gone, new ones arisen, ancient threats eliminated and new authorities present to keep the peace. Perhaps work will move on to explore the Ji Nebula, but as of now, the galaxy is at peace, and few want war now that war has been put to an end.

      The End
