Rima's government and I have already agreed that if I should lose the battle of Chak all relevent systems will be turned peacefully over to him. They will rule under Miranu law but all may live there.

RMA has every right to get carried away with his emotions. He has had to deal with Paranoid who acts as if he's God while considering the entire Igadzra fleet one giant inferior mass of ships which he can blow away in seconds (yes, that's exaggerated, of course).
But at least the dispute is settled...

Hey there. Sorry but I kinda forgot about this story because i'm actively articipating in the currently nameless great war webstory on the ev boards. Sorry, and I will ost my stuff in the IC thread now. Anyway, I would like it if the Crescent player would try to establish diplomatic relations with my people (is this ok to do? I know you can't use OOC intel IC, but it doesn't consider any battles or anything).

The Igadzra fleet was not in a mood to let the Voinans escape. The Igadzras faster ftl engines actually allowed them to arrive before the Voinians did. When the Voinians did arrive, they could not see anything, the Igadzra fleet hiding under cloak.
Then the Igadzra fleet struck from the same range it had previously, carving into the Voinians heavy ships from long range. A slight change in the Igadzras formation was apparent. The Igadzras seemed to be rotating positions with ships from the inner shells on a regular basis.
I didn't think interception was allowed but you can always follow my combined force into Stror, two days ago, DSN-7903 yesterday then DSN-9608 today as I said I was gathering all my forces I had to go back quite some ways and with a three day lead... So you just starting your trip met an unfollowable trail with me 4 jumps ahead, since you don't know where my homeland is any following is OOC. This is allowed because in my earlier post I said I was joining all fleets and one fleet is back near Voinian space due to it's rate of movement. I will jump immediately tommorow into 1003 and you will still be unable to catch up. (Nice strategy by the way. I was going to use that on the Pirate fleet, well a weaker version using fighters.)

No actually the only ships I am constructing are the ships in Raigar. Those ships are separate from any other production due to production upgrades there. The reason for this is that if you win or lose the battle of Chak Raigar will still be around to produce ships. I am as annoyed as you are about the Chak hold up. I just want to have a fair battle and well, that needs to be moderated. As soon as the mods are ready, so am I.

Umm, the cosmic rays are reacting with the particles in the atmosphere. Seeing as a shield is a projection of energy around a ship, it wouldnt be very effective according to your own description. It'd certainly kill off armoured ships though, if cosmic ays where several thousand times as potent as they actually were...
As for the fleet movements, okay. But next time post an actual destination. Otherwise you will be intercepted whatever you say after the fact, because you failed to provide the information.

Red, thanks. If you could keep diligent up until May 16 (the time I become real active in this again...) then that would be very helpful. Keep in mind, this means I'm not watching tech as thoroughly as I might normally.

It would not be just pure unenhanced or unconcentrated cosmic rays. I just thought that that cascading and basic concept would be the base of the technology. Think of a spongebob voice: "You need to use your imagination...." Whatever the mods says goes I have many other techs in mid that could take its place.

I'd like to lodge and objection to Gordontrons enhancement of his railguns. Enlarging 50mm to 150mm in a day or two? I may not be the most up-to-date guy on the rules, but that just sounds rather crazy.

Your objection has been noted and agreed, Carnotaur. Gordontron, I need Res-Edit Terms for Rail Guns in 150 mm and 200 mm, and an explanation of why it should take one day to complete. I will look over your explanation, Gordontron, and determine if the objection should go further.

More than happy to do anything. As for using Res-Edit to look up stats, I may have some talents with that program but using it for the EV series is not one of them. I would be glad, actually I am interested, in learning how to use resedit to look up stats. In fact I have been left somewhat confused by using Res-Edit terms because I cannot connect those numbers to anything physical in the game. I also assumed that yall had EVN but I guess you don't so I will fill you in on that as well as my research.
First lets look at time
-The preliminary general research took five days from 04-21-2003 to 4/26/03.
-Next the theory and research were applied to a physical device and tested, namely the 50mm (which doesn't exist by the way and is in all practices more usefull for testing/training than anything else in my opinion) and the 100mm. This took place over 7 days: 04-26-2003 to 05-3-2003.
-The next installment was simply and enlargement due to the prior amounts of research. it took yes 1 Real Time Day to complete.
I could have said that this whole line of technology would be completed in 13 days but I decided to research it in incriments.
"Railguns are simple enough in concept; get a pellet made from a highly conductive, but dense metal (something cheap, like copper or gold), and place it between two rails (one a cathode, the other an anode). Charge the rails with a homopolar generator, and there you have it: one super-high-speed metal pellet. First developed by Sir Marcus Oliphant as a scientific instrument in the twentieth century AD, the railgun is now standard armament on all Auroran capital ships. This version fires 100mm pellets.
Mass Dmg: 15
Energy Dmg: 12
Ionize: 0
Impact: 40
Recoil: 0 Decay: 10
Reload: 45
Speed: 2000
Count: 105
Inaccuracy: 1 Guided Turn: 0
Mass: 25
Max. Quantity: 6
Cost: 150,000"
"A slightly larger version of the 100mm railgun, this weapon requires a much larger generator, and a power supply to match. The 150mm pellets are made from a copper/cadmium mix, and are drop-forged with care by Auroran weaponsmiths.
Mass Dmg: 25
Energy Dmg: 10 (I am saying that it also does 25 though)
Ionize: 0
Impact: 80
Recoil: 0 Decay: 22
Reload: 53
Speed: 1730
Count: 110
Inaccuracy: 2 Guided Turn: 0
Mass: 30
Max. Quantity: 5
Cost: 225,000"
"Firing a 200mm copper/cadmium pellet, this railgun looks like nothing less than a deck gun from an ancient Earth ocean-going warship. The electrode rails get so scored during battle that they must be replaced at every landfall. Luckily the rails are very cheap and easy to manufacture. Some have even been constructed of old armor plates in times of emergency.
Mass Dmg: 40
Energy Dmg: 10 (I am saying also 40 due to the fact that this was designed for the armor rich EVN)
Ionize: 0
Impact: 120
Recoil: 0 Decay: 24
Reload: 52
Speed: 1480
Count: 120
Inaccuracy: 3 Guided Turn: 0
Mass: 35
Max. Quantity: 4
Cost: 300,000"
I was also under the impression and will use it the the larger the gun the farther the range (I did some testing and that is what it seemed to me)
So as you see the 150mm and 200mm railguns are simply enlargements of the 100mm. They are just more powerfull due to a larger generator, and a power supply. So the only upgrades were really an enlargment of the rails, as it stated are very cheap and easily made, and the generators which would probably rival something in a common powerplant so the technology would already be around and if not the tech from the 100mm would just have to made larger.
Ok I am not very good at persuasive writing but I just hope that helps in your thinking.

It needs to be said again that a lot of the time given to the railgun was given after the fact, because you hadnt been posting either. I didnt post much for over a week, and I didnt go around saying 'I forgot to mention this' and give myself a start on a load of things.
Plus in EVN, the larger railguns actually have a shorter range, according to the stats.
And I came into this webstory because I couldnt stand the way races were being played.

I think that Miras fleet would have reached Raigar by now so if Cresent wants to post the attack post that would be preferable than me
I don't think it would be a good idea for me to start the battle post, because I do not control a fleet, and I am unsure what kauthor wants his ships to do. I know a bit about your plan, because you sent messages to us(us meaning Seleria, Zachit, etc.) about it, but, like I said, I don't think I would be the right one to do it.

"While you'd be better off buying several 100mm railguns, they just don't have the range that the 200mm variety has. If you only have 35 tons free, try this out on your ship; if it doesn't work for you, get a 100mm and use the extra 10 tons for solar panels and/or a battery." EVulas lair (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/survival_guide/evn-outfits/auroran.html")http://www.evula.com...ts/auroran.html(/url)
According to this and what I have observed the larger the rail gun the longer the range. If you would like me to just upgrade the railguns to do more damage to shields (which they should I think that the EVO-EVN shield balances are different but hey what do I know) I can do that. I already have an idea how to make all of them powerful against shields. As far as I can see 13 days for these similar techs seem like enough time. I am still waiting for Kauthors response.
-On another note can Red, Cantor, and Kauthor be online at 9:00 pm tonight? I can get this Chak thing over with and bring the game back up to current time.
-Also I sent a message to Rima and he does not seem to be around. Much of my strategy depends on him being around
-----------------------------------------------
-space turret prodction facilities will be completed on the 6th (now the 7th because the BV Armor is very, very good) to make 3 Voinain Space Turrets and 6 Azdgari Space Turrets UPGRADE TO THIS: the turrets will be fitted with new Bovine Armor.
-This device will enable the ship or objects shield to be able to concentrate in one area. In other words it is kind of like the Star trek tech, if I wanted to move all my shield to the front half I would then have 2X's the shield density. If I new an object was coming in from the left and another small object form the right, the ship computers could send all the shields to those spots causeing less damage to the shields. It is limited to the shell which normal shields are in. It is very effective. completed on the 8th
Mods is this ok?:
OOC: Cosmic Rays taken out of an Encyclopedia:
"These nuclei collide with nuclei in the upper atmosphere, producing secondary cosmic rays of protons, neutrons, mesons, electrons, and gamma rays of high energy, which in turn hit nuclei lower in the atmosphere to produce more particles (see elementary particles). These cascade processes continue until all the energy of the primary particle is dissipated. The secondary particles shower down through the atmosphere in diminishing intensity to the earth's surface and even penetrate it. The size of the shower indicates the energy of the primary ray, which may be as high as 1020 electron volts (eV) or more, almost a billion times higher than the highest energy yet produced in a man-made particle accelerator;"
This new weapon would be in missile form. It would be a small fusion reactor that would be fired using 3 voinian rockets. The plasma inside would be let to explode with no controls. Besides creating a huge explosion this blast would sent out cosmic rays. These rays would kill organisms if it is un shielded. These rays would totally mangle any close shields and then using the energy of the victims shields would cascade onto other ships. In theory this could last many many times but in practice it will only be able to go through ten ships. The chains links can be very far apart (if you consider how wide the atmosphere is I think you will understnad). If the first blast hits more than one ship then the chain reaction can follow different paths or combine into one powerful link. The shield subtraction is as follows: 1st ship -100% shields and basically total destruction, 2nd -100%, 3rd -90%.......9th -20%, 10th -10%. This is very effective and even if it is destroyed early the reaction will still go off. One way to counter this is to be spread so far out that the rays cant be worked into a chain, this must be very spread out so this is primarily a formation buster weapon. Another is to have enough speed to be able to escape the area where it will detonate. Consdering cosmic rays are around light speed out running is not an option. edit:Started on the 5th completed on the 15th.(sudjested by kauthor)
