It depends on who you want to fight. If you're gonna be knocking heads around the Crescent, I'd recommend sticking with the phase turrets (though I think the Igazra has some beam turret things, which drain fuel..) and the SAEs- assuming you can replace them. They're better than the standard ones, and pack an awful lot of punch against fighters. And in the Crescent, if you destroy the fighters, any mother ship is pretty easily defeatable by an Igazra. Also, if you've worked with the Igazra, make sure you get the Plasma Siphon (through the missions)- it rocks as well.

However, if you're going to head back to the UE-Voinian conflict, you'd be better off ditching all of your Crescent weapons (maybe keep one turret for the trip back) and buy some blaze weapons and hunter missiles. Rockets are cool as well, but when you compare the cost and refire time versus how many times you'll actually hit with them, it doesn't paint a pretty picture. Good at short range, but ideally, you'd like to stay away from the Voinians and UEs at close range because both of their fighters have heavy rockets and can use them with deadly accuracy.

      Phew.

      There ya go.

    • ok thanx, but just one question. How accurate are SAE's? I shoot out a whole bunch of them but they never seem to hit anything. They just turn circles :frown:

      Good question.

SAEs are actually more accurate than SADs- SADs are %100 vulnerable (as in tricked by) Type III jamming, while SAEs are only %50 vulnerable to Type III (which is the jammer you can get in the Crescent.) SAEs are also faster- their speed is 750, while SADs are 600. Finally, SAEs do more energy damage than SADs- SADs do 115, while SAEs do 175.

    • Personal opinion on this:

Keep the Phase Turrets. Their firing speed and range make them a formidable weapon and though they don't do much against armour. Blaze weapons have a much more limited rang and their accuracy isn't that good (great if you like scatter shot). Neutron weaponry has a long range, packs a punch, but is so slow that if you outfit your Igazra properly it'll be fast enough to avoid any of the shots.

Since you've done the Igadzra missions to get this you have the Plasma Siphon. It's a good weapon but it drains your fuel. If you place to use this often then get two ramscoops to help it out a bit. Also, get the Big Three outfits which enhance your top speed, acceleration, and turning. You can get those at any of the major Crescent planets. They aren't cheap though.

Personally I ditch the SAE modules and launchers. I also ditch the Dispersal rockets and launchers as well. You have the Plasma Siphon, that outdoes the Dispersal weapons. Keep in mind here that I prefer guns to long-range weaponry. I do however normally purchase a Pursuit missile launder and missiles just to be on the safe side.

Ok. If you've done this so far you should have a ton of space free. Now go buy four shield enhancers and a shield recharger. If you've done the Voinian missions then go for a layer of Bronev playing as well. By this point you might've had to buy a mass expansion as well. Been a while, so I'm not 100% certain.

And then there's the normal stuff which is a no-brainer because it helps you out and weighs nothing. ECM system, IFF Decoder, etc.

    • Phase weapons are generally your ticket to success. Excellent range, good punch and rate of fire make it a bargain. Even though they're pathetic against armor, I still prefer using phase weapons against the Voinians because of the range. Great stuff.

    • Just to clarify on a couple things here: SAE modules are next to useless against Zidagar ships. They all have inherent ECM jamming which is pretty high up there in the spectrum of screwing with SAD and SAE weaponry. Also, the beam turret which Bomb refers to is not a weapon which the player can get. It's found on a couple Igazras in the Zidagar string and that's it.

    • Those Igazdra S.A.D modules...a lot of pahse turrets, enhanced shields, afterburner, motor enhancers, extra weapon space ....

    • I put Dospect Armor, max SAEs (75), and four Shield Generators. The Plasma Siphon doesnt use fuel; the description in data files says that its made of waste products of the ship. I did the whole late string with that. Even the difficult final battle were you have to face all ship types of both Adzgari and Zidagar.
Edit- you can get? you mean the Miranu ECM?

    • Personally, for an Igadzra, 3 phase turrets, 2 proton turrets, 2 (I think) swivel
phase cannons, plasma siphon(s), a crap-load of shield enh. and shield generaters.
A plus, take out a capital (Beam) Igadzra, and get get that weapon

I'd like to see you try, it doesn't have an outfit resource so you can't actually have one unless you first make an outfit to go with the weapon.

      Neener neener, nice try.

Proton? PLEASE! Neutron is the weapon your talking about. Why is that such a common mistake? They are only common in the facts that the bolts are round and the turret is 30 tons.

I'm not a big fan of neutron turrets. They're too slow and if you're facing a fast ship you'll just look dumb trying to blast them as they fly circles around you.. 🙂

Gotcha. I'd forgotten they were specialty ships.

    • Keep all your stock turrets and add some neutrons. That way you will get hits and against slower ships you get much more damage. I also like mines. They are pretty hard to use, but if you get it right they can take out multiple fighters in a few hits.

That's nice. If you'll take a look inside EVO Data 2 in the wëaps you'll find the Plasma Siphon. If you open it up you'll see that it uses ammo type "-1001". If you open up the tractor beam and repulsor beam, which both use fuel to run them, you'll see that their ammo type is "-1001".

This is of course for EV 1.0.2 In both 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 the Plasma Siphon didn't use fuel. I'd suggest that if you have one of those two copies of it that you upgrade, the AI is far superior in 1.0.2 and makes for a more challenging game.

    • After doing a comparison between Phase Cannons, Swivel Phase Cannons, Phase Turrets, Blaze Cannons, Blaze Turrets, and Plasma Siphon, here is my recommendation: Forget the Plasma Siphon! It comes in dead last! It has no effect on shields and is not as effective as (in order): Phase Cannon, Swivel Phase Cannon, and Phase Turret on armor.
After the comparison, here is my recommendation: Phase Cannon, Swivel Phase Cannon, Phase Turret, Blaze Cannon, Blaze Turret, Plasma Siphon.

    • The plasma siphon is only really good against fast moving fighters like the Azdgari. What you do is face the fighters as they are comming for you, be blasting them with phase turrets, and then plasma siphon them as they get on top of you. This typically will kill even the enhanced Azdgari fighters.

I personally recomend 3 phase turrets and two neutron turrets. You'll want to get the shield regenerater and maybe some shield enhancements. I would personally sell any of the secondary weapons you have and use that space for buying a lot of other items....depending on how you operate, you might like a fighter bay of some sort. You'll want all the jammers you can get, all the speed upgrades and such that you can get, and use the extra space as free space to get various secondary weapon systems depending on the need. This is my personal opinion, and it seems to work well against about any race. Somtimes, if you are going against just crescent ships, and it is going to be a big battle you are going to get into, lose the neutron turrets and get more phase turrets, and vice versa against the Voinions.
