    • How to raise my citizen rating?

I'm trying to continue with the UE Military missions (I'm trying to get the Rescue Scoutship Mission). According to Shayon's site, I need an Upstanding Citizen rating and a Competent combat rating. I've been blowing up Voinian and Renegade ships for over an hour, and I can't seem to get higher then "Good Egg." How can I raise my citizen rating higher? (My combat rating is Deadly, so I know that that isn't the problem.)

PS. I've already completed the "Rescue Voinian Defector" mission, and as far as I know, that's the only mission prerequisite.

    • So far you're doing exactly what you need. You just need to do more of it.

      Good luck, and have fun!

And if no one has said it....Welcome to the Boards!

    • That's funny. I've never had problems getting the UE missions. Try getting a couple of deliveries and stopping in the bar when you drop off whatever you are delivering. That always worked for me šŸ™‚

    • What you didnt say that web site also mentioned that you have only a 15% chance of getting the mission. In other words, your chances of getting this mission are slim. Keep jumping in and out. Though that you dont get it is funny, I never had a problem getting this early mission.

    • I've never had a hard time getting the UE missions myself - it's the Voinians that tend to be more difficult.

One of the best things to do is to go to Pax and jump into the fray. Wait until you've got a balanced fight, (between say, a Frigate and a Destroyer) and help out one side or the other- depending on who you're trying to please. Not only will they like you for it (especially if your ship delivers the "death" blow..) but it'll also amp up your combat rating, which I believe needs to be high for later missions.

That takes forever. I never got Pillar of Society before I did Reign of the UE missions.

    • The easiest way to raise your status with anyone, be they Voinion or UE or Strandless, etc, is to get a bounty-hunting mission. Then, just don't ever finish the mission. Always get missions against the human renigades b/c not only will they fight the alien renigades, but they also have a MUCH larger crew complement and they are easier to kill, thus making a kill of a human renigade ship weigh a lot more on governments. Just keep jumping between systems and killing the renigades since they will follow you anywhere. If you try to get a Voinion mission, or at least get them not to kill you when you go into their space, just find an uninhabited planet next to voinion systems and just keep landing, then killing renigades, then landing, etc. Do that to make any gov. happy with you. Human bounty-hunter missions rule for making people like you šŸ˜„

Hmm, interesting. Very unorthodox way of raising your status. Guess the game developer didnt know anyone would think this unusual way. The Voinians dont care for killing renegades, since they dont have ones in their space.

    • KingArthur's tactic is a very good one, as you can drag the attackers to wherever your rating needs a boost.

A method that used to work in EV was to get lots of freighter escorts - you would then be followed, in EV original, by some Defenders and/or Lightnings and/or Rapiers that you could kill wherever you needed a ratings boost. However, this seemed to stop working after EV 1.0.4.

    • I believe what happened was that governments no longer were enemies with Bounty Hunters. I guess they figured that for the most part, Bounty Hunters are hired by governments, so why should governments care if they kill you or vice-versa.

I've been doing that for years- it's also a damn fine way of getting fuel on long trips...
As for the original question, isn't "good egg" better than "upstanding citizen" anyway? Just keep trying and you should get the mission eventually...

    • Actually, the Voinions DO like it when you kill renigades. Everyone does except renigade plannets. Heck, even the crescent renigade plannets will like you if you kill enough Human renigades in/near their systems (and vice-versa if you kill enough crescent ones in human renigade space).

I have used this tactic to get places where I am most wanted to like me! As soon as I can, I will get a bounty-hunter mission, and the only time I will end it is if I am going to be going into a major battle for some other mission, and I don't want to have to deal with the renigades as well. This is also a nice way to improve your combat rating b/c human renigades are easy, and have more people on their ships than the harder crescent ones. Since both combat rating and citizen rating is based on NUMBER of people killed, human renigades are the best. Especially turncoats :D.

I didnt know then that Voinians liked killing Renegades. They have no Renegades in their space, and its so hard to improve your rating with them it has had no effect with me. And yes, Human Renegades are easy, because theyre the crappiest government in the game after Emalgha. Turncoats are soo easy to beat. A Lazira cant beat it with primary weapons only, dont take on too many at at a time though or your shields will drop heavily. If you want complete safety, use SADs.

    • The thing is, Voinion ships have the most people on them of any government. Therefore, killing one Voinion frigate is like killing a dozen of most other governments' ships. If you have killed even a few Voinion ships, well, you are going to take a long time to get them back to liking you, no matter what. If all else fails, and you still think it isn't working, then what you can do is kill UE ships that are attacking Voinion systems (you want to kill them as close to Voinion space and far away from UE space as possible). Then you can just do the renigade method to rebuild your status in UE space. I am almost sure that Voinions like you more if you kill renigades. I haven't played in a long time, but I can remember many hours spent in voinion space rebuilding my reputation by killing renigade ships and then landing on uninhabited planets.

      Just my two cents

    • If your reputation in the UE systems (just the UE systems, not the UE Frontier systems with Outpost Alpha, Outpost Theta, and Outpost Gamma in them) is other than clean in the downward direction (offender, prime evil, felon, most wanted, fugitive, galactic scourge) then you can always just go to the Riomor system, land at Freeport, and purchase fake papers for one million credits. So go ahead and destroy all the UE ships you want, just make sure you have a million credits to buy your way out of it.
