I know this should probably go on the EVO forum, but not many people post there.
If any of you remember that one planet near the alien systems, dominated by the "Council", who are they? What are they, and did they serve any purpose in EVO? I've even tried dominating and bribing their planet but the defense fleet never ends, and they never allow me to bribe'em.
Who the hell are they?

SO other then asking the few people that go to the EVO board and have played EVO, you rather ask the Nova board in which the majority may have only played Nova? Please always post in the right forms .

I think there were plugs designed to exploit this, but the story that makes the most sense to me is that the council was a group of the alien races set up to rule over the three strands. They were trying to enforce peace and get the strands to work together, so anyone who picked sides in the strand war and started killing any of the aliens were branded a galactic scourge by the council. Similar to how the Middle Eastern countries will fight each other, but will band together when an outside force attempts to intervene for any side.

Well, don't you think part of the problem with people not posting here is the fact that you didn't post your topic here?
As for your query about the Council, I think they're more an opening for plug-in designers than anything else. There are scant references to them in EVO, though for the most part all we know is that they are some kind of secret, shadowy organization that uses robots on it's stations (so you won't see them) and is in some way connected with the Strands.

It seems to me that they are the central race from which the Azdgari, Zidagar, and Igadzra split off from. The Council is made up of the last of this race (which I think was called the Gadzair). They watch over the other strands, perhaps making sure none of them die out or something like that.
