I suggest we could write a huge story-line about Escape Velocity Override: AS A TOPIC!
When I first came on (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiaSW.com")www.ambrosiaSW.com(/url) i first looked at the boards and checked out how it worked. It was only after I was a member that I read the chronicles. (Is this a reasonable idea?)

(If it is...) Members or visitors can post a continuation of the story but please do not ruin the story by posting crazy things and pretending to kill members of the board. Oh yes, and sometimes the story ends up as having much too many characters. Please minimize the main characters to four or five maximum and do not name the characters after your own name.
      I shall begin the story:

Officer Stash docks at space-station F-14 and waves the workers to unload his scoutship. After being payed he heads towards the space-port bar. He orders a brandy and eyes the bar suspiciously.
He sees several groups of discussing officers and several angry-looking men. He grabs his brandy and drinks it in several gulps. The liquid sizzles on the exhausted man's tongue and Glang smiles at the exquisity of the drink. He glimpses a friendly-looking officer and calls him over.
"Hey, you there! Tired from the day, eh? Take a seat!" The man setas himself and introduces himself.
"I'm Ross Dunnin, 2rd class docker of F-14. Who are you?"
"Glang Stash. Ill buy you a drink. 'You new here?"
"No, I've been working here for years and its been years I've dreamed to go somechere else..."
Glang turns around, as if he was embarrassed to not try to aid the poor man, and finally decides:
"I am going to Outpost Alpha in the Bakka system in a few hours, do you want to come with me? There is space for another passenger but going there might be a bit risky, though..." Ross's face brightens considerably and his sudden excitation bothers the others in the bar.
"That would be great!" He says.
"Please not so loud, just pack up and be on Dock 14 in an hour." Ross immediately leaps out of his chair and abandons his drink. Glang sighs and heads for his beloved ship.

Ross was half an hour in advance and Glang hurries to unlock the Scoutship XR-5163. Ross jumps in the ship and throws his trunks in the behind his seat. Glang aborts the ship and fastens his seat-belt.
The booming voice of the ship's computer activates and the speakers count the blast-off.
      "5.....4.....3.....2......1....."
The Scoutship hovers higher and higher off the ground and Ross's mood rises higher and higher. Suddenly, they were off!!!

At the beginning of their second hyperspace jump, the radar starts blinking and Glang sees the massive silhouette of a voinian cruiser. The killing machine advances and voinian heavy fighters come out three by three.
      Glang shouts over the noise:
"Ross! Help me! Take the blaster!" Glang just barely dodges a rocket, but the smoke blinds Glang temporarily. Then, he sees two fighters catch up with him. One of them fires neutron and it hits the unucky pilot's ship in the wing. Glang Stash and Ross Dunnin go crashing into the atmosphere of a visibly empty, lifeless planet.

Glang painfully attemps to stand up, but in vain. Ross stares at the wounded pilot and the broken ship. The he sighs and declares:
" I am also a ship garagist. I repair the basic shuttles but this scoutship is about the same technology. I may be able to repair this in a week or so..."
" Good, but in the crash I have broken my leg. Please get the intercom and call Sol for help. Tell them to bring a couple U.E. Destroyers, the cruiser might not be alone."

As Ross enters the ship for the second time, you pick up a small case in which there are first aids. Glang takes a sip of Sol water, the best in U.E. space and he bandages his bloody wound. Glang winces in pain and ropes the bandages tighter.

" Hello, U.E. Military Forces here, please identify yourself." Relpies a rather stern voice in the intercom.
"I am Ross Dunnin, docker of F-14 and I have with me the Scoutship XR-5163 and Officer Glang Stash here. We are both on a seemly uninhabited planet and our vessel has been disabled by Voinian Forces." Ross tries not to smile as the stern man understands his request and being so important.
" U.E. Forces sending three U.E Destroyers at your command Mr.Dunnin."

Luckily, the radar still works. Glang looks at it very carefully and sees the Destroyers coming by hyperspace. But at the corner of the radar, on the planet, he sees an immense base of voinians.
      "Ross, we have a problem."
      "What? The Destroyers are coming!"
"Just look there..." Ross and Glang both get pale shriek in horror at the apparition of a big spot on the radar. They identify it and look at its' definition.
The screen blackens after showing the defeat of the U.E.
"Oh no," Ross says after a moment of deathly silence." We are lost on a Voinian planet."

The pair sigh desperately and repeat again and again that the battery was down, the battery has leaked, the battery is broken...
Suddenly, the intercom flashes into action. The fuzzy voice of the 'stern man' spoke slowly for comprehension.
      "Sending more...vessels...away....destroy...hyp...."
"The link shattered again, Ross. They said they would send more vessels, but the end was too incomprehensible. We may have another chance."

    • This topic leaves me speechless. I thought I'd share my speechlessness with you all.

"Never give yourself a haircut after three margaritas."

    • Look! There are webstories about EVO. As a matter of fact, there will be a sequel to EOD sometime this six months. We don't need another story. What we do need is more plugs that leave us speechless just like Desperado.

      ------------------

    • So? Why not give this idea a chance?

It may need to be a bit more structured, though. And I am not yet quite sure as to how this differs from a bar...

Whatever. If this takes off, I'll be here.

      Regards,
      Solel

    • Cooldude,

This isn't exactly a new idea. We call these webstories. This is one of the more simple versions. I think you've got this one off to an OK start. You might try making some more definite rules, and make sure your spelling is accurate.

      Good luck!

    • I have noy been here for a long time and this kind of post may have already happened. This is NOT like the Albatross or anything like that. This is just an EVO chronics on the board (I explained why at the beginning of the topic.).
I think this wasn't a bad idea! But if others don't think so...

I would still like to continue this topic. Just for fun. let's get posting guys!

    • OOC: In that case, I'm in for this webstory.

      IC:

Commander Somm gazed out the window of his courier. Recently appointed by the Station Pybin Steering Committee to do some reconnaissance in western Miranu space, the surly young Miranu seemed overly cocky at his promotion. Few indeed of the Miranu militia forces ever achieved a rank higher than Pilot of some lowly crescent fighter. Somm could hardly believe that he had been chosen to conduct actual research on the frontier.

Of course, they might just be trying to get rid of him. Assigning him to a third rate listening station along the edge of the nebula would be just the sort of low strike he had come to expect from the scientists. Nevertheless, an oppurtunity like that rarely came in his life, so he took the assignment, along with the perks of his rank.

"StratCom, how we looking on time here?" he demanded with only the slightest hint of impatience. He had been waiting for clearance to leave for over nine hours.

A chuckle was his only response. "Just a little more time, eh Commander?"

Great, he thought. He's said that four times all ready. "Very well," he sighed. Another round of chuckles greeted him.

After several more hours of bored anger, Commander Somm was given clearance to leave Priat. He followed the course plotted for him by StratCom and left through the nearest hyperexit, heading for Zanat.

      His life was getting exciting.

    • (Just question that i will delete, is StratCom a main-character?)

After a few hours, the scientists told him all was ready. And he was gone on the Dock.
Commander Somm had been given a vessel in which he would reach Zanat with, and proudly stepped in his Upgraded Arada. The scientists had warned him for a very dangerous ride, but Somm was ready for anything to have an interesting life.

Commander Archon Somm awaited the activity of his Miranu contact-radio, and the squeaky voices of the scientists for his instructions.
Archon's ship hovered, and flew almost noiselessly away. The ship's motor hummed as it neared the edge of the security limit. Archon pressed on the -HYPERSPACE- button and they roared into light speed.

Mr. Somm entered the Zanat system and the message buoy greeted him warmly. Archon landed on Dock VI and jogged as he turned his Miranu Inter-com on.

      "Now what?" Asks Archon impatiently.

    • OOC: Uhh...don't you already have a character? I thought Somm was my player. And no, StratCom is not a main character. It's just the callsign of whoever is manning the dock. (Short for "Strategic Command") Nevertheless, do not eliminate/delete your post about Somm. It's reasonable, so I'll just continue my story from there later on today. I might begin an OOC chat for this when I get around to that. (And Archon is such a cool name anyway :D)

    • OOC: As promised...(However, I'm disregarding the 'Upgraded Arada' bit. Somm flies a Miranu courier because he's such a patriotic mercenary. :D)

      IC:

      "About time, Archon."

Somm snapped at the comm. "Quiet. No need to get Mira Intelligence involved in this. Do you have the data?"

      "Aye sir. But..."

"What? You're not feeling misgivings, are you?"

      "Permission to speak freely sir?"

      "Granted."

"Sir, to be honest, I don't like this nebula exploration idea. I mean, we have no intel going into this, the Zachit aren't watching our backs, and even the Station Pybin Researcher doesn't know for sure what we're going to face. We're going in blind sir, and I don't like it."

"I realize that Captain Thane, but keep in mind what could be in the Nebula."

"An alien civilization as cruel as the Voinians, perhaps?"

"Well, that's a possibility, but I prefer to look at the brighter side of such matters."

"What do you hope to find sir?"

"I'm not sure. All I know is..."

      "What?"

"I'll tell you when I get there."

"Buy some magrifles on the way, will you sir?"

Somm chuckled. "You'll pay for one?"

"By the gods sir! You are a true Miranu!"

"You can explain to me what you meant by that when I get to the safe house."

    • Hey hey hey! Solel, I thought the characters were going to meet somewhere later in the story! This is all the same story, not seperte ones each member does. That will be too complicated...follow my idea, it's better, but I like yours about each member has a character. Well, let's get going:

The abandoned humans look a long period in the blackened sky in the dark night. Just for a few seconds, Ross barely sees the outline of a small Interceptor, and hurriedly shows Glang the sight. Glang's eyes widen, and he starts sputtering quietly:

      "Do you think...?"
"They might have settled on this planet. It should have been deserted."

They close their eyes as they see a blazing ember in the sky, a hit U.E. Carrier, but their emotions revive as
the ship starts landing and Glang and Ross board the ship. It had only been badly damaged, and had enough fuel to make a last voyage back to Earth.
      They were saved.

    • OOC: Very well. This'll be a long post to establish how Somm and Thane arrive on Earth. I've decided on finding your characters there. We'll go from there.

      IC:

Captain Thane was a Miranu, but he did not look like it. The common stereotype of a Miranu was a fat, greedy trader. Thane was none of these. With rippling musculature, crisp uniform, and phase rifle slung across his back, he looked the striking image of a Miranu militiaman, or even a Zachit warrior.

As he greeted Commander Somm in person, the earlier demeanor of hapless recruit and superior officer disappeared. Although still regulated by military protocol, the two Miranu greeted each other warmly as if they were old friends, which, in fact, they were. The two companions quickly sat down at the hotel room's table and began perusing the material Thane had acquired.

Somm's eyes scanned down the page with the lightning-quick speed characteristic of Miranu thought. As he read, his eyes grew progressively wider. By the time he had finished the article, he was staring open-mouthed at Thane.

"I understand why you don't want to talk about this on an open channel."

"Aye. Intelligence can't get their hands on this. It's too dangerous. We need to get this out of Miranu space, out of the Star League. The Trademaster is well known to be in the Director's pocket."

      "Not so loud."

      "Apologies, sir."

Somm grinned. "You don't have to put the act back on until we leave this room. Keep in mind, though, that the damper only works so far."

      "Sure."

"Keep your weapn armed, though. I'm not the pillar of society most people think I am."

"Fine. If we have to leave the Star League, where are we going to be welcome? Nobody wants refugees these days."

      "Not refugees. Explorers."

"Whatever. It's not hard to tell the difference these days, but so many people are paranoid, with the War going on."

"True enough. I take it we can rule out the Strands then?"

"Well, the Zidagar might take us in, but we'd appear little more than refugees, and I take it you want something better than an internment camp as a dwelling."

      "Human Space?"

"Perhaps. It's time we open our borders to them. Might as well start with two political enemies fleeing to the seat of their government."

"Don't joke about that. Earth is the best location in Human Space for us to be."

      "Why's that, Commander?"

"Because they have defense fleets there."

Thane laughed. "And you think they have ships powerful enough to stop our mighty navy?" he asked, laughing harder with each word.

Somm couldn't help but chuckle too. "They've held back the Voinians for years. There's potential. They might be more willing to look at a nebula than our sterling government."

      "So it's settled?"

"At 0300, we set course for Sol."

A sleek violet craft jetted out from the spacedocks of Zanati Refinery. After powering up its sublight engines, the M.L.S. Negotiator weaved its way to the nearest hyperspace exit point. Cutting power to the sublights, it switched over to main power and fired its primary thrusters. The ship opened a multicolored rift in front of it, and fell into it.

Weeks later, it found itself in the Sol system.

Somm and Thane waited, approaching Earth slowly as they allowed themselves to be scanned for weapons. There would be boarding parties soon, but they could be appeased.

Perhaps now life would be safe.

    • (Others can come too in this topic, you know? This is public! Cooldude waves his hand in front of several officers)

Glang winces in agony as a professional doctor examines the wound with a small, thin metal pick. After a moment, the doctor sighs and starts to say:
"The wound is very bad, it will take several weeks to cure. Make sure to take these energy cubes, a strange plant called the Euphoynak has infected your wound, and if you don't take three pills per day, you might be under the Euphoynak's brainpower." Glang's face droops at the terrible news. He would have to stay in the twenty-seventh century hospitals on Sol. Ross also ins't very bright after the doctor's sayings.
"I am sure they will let you go out of the hospital, as long as you still have your com in case of any...strangeness."
On the way out of the room, Ross spots a very thin-looking Miranu. He appears to be a Zachit with the ship of a
simple merchant. Suddenly, the ex-dock sweeper has a brilliant idea. He rushes up to the Miranu but before he had the time to open his mouth, Archon announces in a funny tone:
"Hey Thane! Hold on: tourists need our help!"
"I am not a tourist but I do need help. My Commander has been badly wounded in a crash on a Voinian planet. After that, it got infected by a brain-washing plant called the Euphoynak."
"We are not doctors b..but..." Thane stutters but Archon quickly completes "But we have heard of your 'brain-washing plant'."
