    • I might be able to upload it to my website, but since I haven't gotten that far in my lessons, I'd have to ask about it. Otherwise, I don't know any other place to upload to. Lemme ask around. Right now I'm almost done with "Saboteur's Realm." I'm gonna try and play "F-25" again and see if I can get it to work. I had a problem getting "Saboteur's Realm" to work until I took out all the extraneous plugs.

You transfer it via FTP. Programs like CuteFTP will make it easy.

    • I know how FTP works. I use BulletFTP with my website. I just don't know how much I am allowed to upload. There is one other place, but I'd have to ask my teacher about it.
BTW: I went all the way through "Saboteur's Realm" with no problem (once I got rid of all extraneous plugs, hehe). I wonder why SR's author hasn't completed version b5? I also can't seem to find his webboard (supposedly moved to Delphi)?I also decided to try to play through "F-25" once again without the extra plugs and, even though I found a few problems, I've managed to get up to the "Locate the (Xarnez) Cavalry." Just where the heck is the Cavalry? If you still want me to zip and upload my files, Bomb, I will. I think my site provider allows 100 Megs.

That would be cool. I couldn't get any emulation to work on my PC, and if I had it working it would be easier to maintain the files..

    • Oh, I see! I go to all the trouble of setting it up and working it out, just so you can play! Okay! I see no problem with that! That's how plugs are done, too, huh? Okay, I was up to "Attack Ore Stations." When I got to OS4, I got no message and still had the classified cargo in my ship's bay, but saw the red flag on the system Chenain(sp?) is in. I wasn't sure, so I stopped the game and opened it up in Res-Edit and Mission Computer (btw: I still had the "Campaign I: Xarnez" mission still listed on my mission screen.), but found nothing to help me. I went back to the game, only to find that I had no missions listed, no red-flagged systems... Is there some way I can go into it and reset the misbits? Amherst, MA, huh? So you're from Emily Dickinson-ville! Fantastic writer! Studied her in college.

Basically.. 😄 No, it's more that I'd be able to help you better, and since I don't know the first (or second, or third) thing about emulation, it'd be helpful if someone had it already set-up. I've tried many, many times to get EVO going on my PC, with no success. It'd be damn cool if I could release bug fixes while here at school, but again, without working emulation, I'm up a creek. Would it be easier to bundle it all up and direct send it over AIM? I'm on a T3 here so I can usually get about 700 kbs max.. It really all depends on what kind of connection you have..

The Xarnez Campaign will haunt you until you complete it. It's only there to remind you which campaign you are on. Once you complete the mission set for that campaign it'll mysteriously vanish whenever you go to the ending point..

As per the bits problems, take the mission you were stuck on and go to the next. Check the field availbitset and set it to -1. Check the availstellar and head there, and you should be able to pick it up. Again, without any way to get into the plug-in or game, I can't say for sure where you went wrong, but the method I described will get you to the next mission.

And I'm actually from Connecticut.. I just go to school in Amherst, at UMass.

    • Sorry, Bomb, but I tried what you said and wound up being in Quera orbit, with none of the spobs visible, and giving me the "cannot land...hostile environment" or "unstable hull" messages when I either tried to land or dock. Fortunately, I had a backup copy of my pilot file (done around the time the Kytaan attacked Aenecia) on hand. So I just used my backup pilot file and continued from there. So, I guess that's three things I learned today: 1)NEVER use extraneous plugs (unless they've been compatibility checked (with the data files, the main plug, and with each other beforehand). 2)Backup your pilot file (and do it often)! 3)Make a copy of your plug and data files (if you plan to fiddle with the data, like I usually do). So you're a "Connecticut Yankee in Emily Dickinson's Court," huh? Whatcha studying? Y'ever play the "Empire" series in EV? I noticed Tim used a lot of the graphics from "F-25," as well as others. It's a little strange seeing an EVO ship in EV!
BTW: Is the mission where you escort the ships to Kentana I an impossible one? I've tried it several times, each time either getting a "Mission Failed" message, or not getting a message upon landing back at Defense Post II! I tried setting the "If player fails mission" misbits to the same as the ones for the "If player completes mission" using "Mission Computer," but that didn't seem to help.
Send it over AIM, hmmm? Maybe. Lemme check out how big the file's gonna get, first!

F-25 should never be played with any other plug-ins in the folder.. I had assumed that would be common knowledge. Also, I think it's in the Read-me.. I don't know how you could have possibly switched systems and deleted all the spobs by changing one mission bit. You must have done something else wrong..

I'm currently a (semi) English major at UMass. I hope to design my own major in screenwriting, but it's looking more and more like I'll just stick with English and do the specific work on my own.

As for the Empire series for EV, I've never played it. I'm guessing the ships he used in it were the same free graphics set I used for F-25. If it's only the Querin and Kytaan ships, then that's fine, because Matt Dailey released those to the public.. Any others (The Bomaarii, Xarnez, etc) would be without my permission, but I sincerely doubt he did that.

Let me know if you're going to send it over AIM.. My screen name is Shabs0283, and though I'm online quite a bit, I'm not actually there very often.

    • Well, I dunno what happened, either. The only things I've changed are the numbers for the ships and weapons I use. Since I used a copy of my data files on hand, I made another copy and replaced the used copy (the first one) with it, so all the spob settings were back to normal. So now I've gotten the "Return Home" mission. Sometimes, when I have to go a long distance (i.e. Quera to Aenecia), I like to use the Pilot File Editor (I almost spelled it Ediotor, if that tells ya something) to put myself in orbit of whatever spob I want (such as Aenecia). This time, I went the long way around, got into DSN-6160 (why was that never given a name?), saw the little yellow dot/circle for Aenecia, but there is no graphic, and I get the "hostile environment" message when I try to land. There's also the regular ship traffic in the system/orbiting the planet. I know that many spobs are listed more than once (I guess because something changes). I wonder if there is a way to do the same thing using Res-Edit or something other utility. I keep trying to use PFE to get into orbit of Aenecia (instead of F-25), but I keep getting one of those "something Exception-must shut down" warning messages. I did backup my pilot file before leaving Quera (I think it was at Quera), so I may use that. Other utilities (EVOGod...) won't even work on the emulation! So, are you gonna tell us about the time you almost died?
      --------------------------
Nope. Tried swapping the backed-up pilot file, swapping the "used" "F-25 Data 2" for a fresh copy...no good. Even though I can go to DSN-6160, there is no graphic for Aenecia, I get the warning message, but there is the usual traffic. BUT, when I go to the map, all it says is that DSN-6160 is uninhabited and has no ports. My "Campaign II..." and "Campaign III..." are still on my mission log, (I guess C III hasn't finished), but I did get the next mission after C II was over. So, I've got three "missions" on my list: "Campaign II...," "Campaign III...," and "Return Home." Could that have something to do with it? I guess I'll just have to start off anew from the beginning.
      --------------------------------
Okay, I've zipped the files into one neat "little" package (64 megs). I'm on a dial-up (modem) with average 50.6kbps

Hmm.. I'm not too sure there's anything I can do without getting my hands on the files. I will be going home this weekend for my birthday, so I can always check through the files if I get the chance. Also, any time you could send the emulator would be great.. It might even speed up the production of my EVN project.

Well, I decided to go back and start over. I replaced the EVO data files with "new" ones, same thing for the "F-25" data files. I got up to the "Defend F-25," but even though I got the mission, went back to Aenecia, and landed, I got no messages. If I remember right, the Xarnez was supposed to send some backup for me, but none arrived. I even went to the Zachit system and to Mira, and got nothing (no messages, no Kytaan, nothing) When I was on Aenecia, I clicked on the Bar button, and got a message from some Kytaan raiders (not the message I was anticipating). • I've just been told to go to DSN-8071 to destroy some Kytaan ships. I can't find a system with that designation. Is that the right number? If it isn't, what's the correct system?
      -----------------------------
That must not be the right number, because I just took a looong "tour" around and within the expanse passing through each system. I found a couple of systems with numbers close to 8071, but with the numbers transposed... Also, even after using that "replace availbitset with -1" trick, I still have the missions listed on my board and the relevant systems are still red-flagged. If I go back or abort the mission, I get it again. I think I'm going to put "F-25" aside until I get my mac fixed.
