I completed the Azdgari string and unless I missed something, failed a mission, or got unlucky in a random branch, the experimental shield generator I ended up with is not the final version with the aligned crystals but rather the only slightly successful initial prototype. I remember being given the initial prototype to keep, but was told after the first test that it was only a little better than the one already available at the outfitter. Then I went on the crystal hunt, test missions and the final assault, but my generator was never upgraded. In the final assault by the enhanced Azdgari fleet, I mistakenly attacked an Azdgari Prada (thinking yellow meant Igadzra). I was flying a custom Lazira and gave it enough phase cannon fire and pursuit missiles to destroy at least 3 standard Pradas. Its shields never went below 30% and I had to hit the afterburner and cloaking device to disengage when I was down to armor. I was certainly not getting the kind of shield enhancement it was. As far as I can tell, the 'real' enhanced Azdgari shield generators only exist on the ships in the final test and assault missions of the string. After you get the prototype generator there is no more technology in that string, only money. Someone please correct me if I missed something here.

Here's an effort to answer these questions. (Am I becoming the Azdgari shield mission expert or what? :D)

The shield generator the Azdgari give you is 5 times better than the normal outfitter one. It subtracts 50 points from your shield regeneration time, as opposed to -10 from the normal Azdgari generator. If you are in a ship with 50 shields or less, it gives you the shield regeneration capability of the Enhanced Azdaras. It is the best shield regenerator in the game. Period.

This is both true and untrue. The ships in the final assault have certain, preset shield regeneration values. The Azdgari Enhanced Azdaras (the little green fighters that have insane shield recharge rates) have the preset shield regeneration value of 1, which is the best possible in the game. If your ship has 50 or less armor, the experimental generator will make your ship have this value. If you have 60 or less shields, the experimental generator plus the normal generator will give you this result. The assault ships used in the mission have no upgrades, just preset values.

This is true. You have the best Azdgari technology at that point, which is the experimental generator, and you have access to the Azdaras, Azdara bays, Azdgari engine upgrades, and the normal Azdgari generator in the outfitter.
It was a good, thorough question you raised. I hope this clears it up.

what about if you have an Arda? You only have three enhancers, and one generator? I too do not have the "final upgrade" to the experimental gen.

What you need is an outfitted Igadzra. It has enough firepower to overcome the shield regen rate of the Enhanced arada. What I am saying is this....abort the enhanced arada mission......disable the E arada......capture it. Then get the normal upgrade and dospect armor. The dospect is very important. Your shields has the same recharge rate as your armor. However phase cannons are 3 times weaker against armor than shields. This means that your pretty much invincible. The ship with the highest possible recharge rate is the voinian heavy fight. I know what you are thinking but you just have to follow this recipe for that ship.........One normal shield recharger, one experimental shield recharger, 4 shield enhancers (VERY IMPORTANT)and a layer of dospect armor. This ship can only be defeated by the Disco Bison. I have attacked the drednought before and just sat in front of it without attacking. The 6 neutron turrets could not overcome my recharge rate. Buy a fleet of (Cresent Warships) and conquer all the systems in the game while you eat a sandwich watching TV. Yup you just let your fleet do the work because you can't be killed.

The Voinian Heavy Fighter with that exact upgrade scheme is my favorite ship. However, it can be even more fun if you have a UE cloaking device.
To reiterate the point: The combination of shield generator + experimental generator is most effective on fighters (Azdara, Crescent Fighter, UE Fighter, Voinian Heavy Fighter) and light cruisers (Aradas, Azdgari Aradas, Enhanced Azdgari Aradas).
If I ever find the time, I will redo the entire mission string for the Azdgari to get the exact mission layout, although one could just go and look at the Mission Map in the addons section.

How do you get a fleet? Is a fleet just a
fleet of escorts? Is that "recipe" you listed for the Arda or the Vonian Haevy fighter?------------------

Anyway.... if it was for the "VHF", do you (or anyone really) know one for the Arda?

You can hire 6 Cresent Warships at just about any strand or Miranu planet. Go to the spaceport bar and then hit hire an escort. You can hire six of these ships. Now if you captured 6 azdgari warships then the number of ships exceeds what EVO can handle. This means that only a few ships will come out of a planet that you have demanded tribute from before it gives up.
The recipe I spoke of was for the Voinian Heavy Fighter. With that said the Enhanced Azdgari Arada has the same upgrades except for the exp. shield regenerator. This is because it happens after the exp shield generator mission so you lose it when you trade ships.
This part goes out to Solel. I have been playing with that upgraded VHF for a long time. I usually put on 3 neutron cannons (I still have 1.0.1). I also have the plasma siphon and the cloak on as well.
If you want to know more about playing with 2 strands without cheating just reply back to this post.

The plasma siphon is not so great in 1.0.2 (or is my version just wacked?). I've heard that it used to kill a dreadnaught in 30 seconds, and mine never could manage that. The Voinian Heavy Fighter...anyone who won't play with it because it is 'ugly' can not appreciate the inner beauty of the ship.
Aradas could probably do well with a normal generator, exp. generator, 4 shield enhancers, dospect armor, standard system upgrades, and, depending on your galactic region, decent weaponry. Problem is, that costs a large sum of money.
But it's well worth it.

This is the Kauthor. I was (I think) the first person to bring this subject up. It has to do with the fact that you can not work for the other 2 strands once you have completed the recruitment mission of the other strand. However the key word here is "Complete" and not "Accept". The easiest is the Igdraza and the Zidagar(Example 1). Pick up the Igadzra mission on Kitrak (its been a while so I am not 100% positive). Fly to Pozdag 3. Accept the Zidagar recruitment mission. Finish that mission (Land on Pozdag after you defend it). Continute on to Igadzra and finish that recruitment mission. Now you are in with 2 strands. This is the best way to go if you like capital ships. The other is started the same way on kitrak. (Example 2)Go to the south tip (pick up azdgari recruitment mission). Finish that mission and go on the Igadzra. This is best if you are going to use fighers. Now heres the disclaimer. I still have 1.0.1. You probably can still do the first example. However the second example is extremely hard so it might not be possible in 1.0.2. But I think you can work for all three strands if you use 1.0.0. This is because the Zidagar recruiment mission did not have a time limit in the first version. This meant you could just pick up that mission proceed to example 2 and finish up the Zidagar mission last.
It is possible to complete 2 strand objectives in 1.0.1
