That's a pretty pathetic assumption. I always beat the Dreadnought in a UE fighter, and I don't use the Monty Python (the closest I use is a rocket taunt, which is a far shot from cheating.)
I use exactly the same tactic as firestorm mentioned, and I even call it the spearhead tactic (although it's not as widely recognised as the Monty Python.) I never bother with rockets, though, as they just run out. That aside, it's a mostly unmodified UE fighter...
The trick to spearhead is to recover armour or shields while you fly away from them after each pass. UE fighters regenerate faster than the Voinian dreadnought point for point (as well as % for % by a long way), therefore as long as you have patience, it'll fall. I tend to only retreat when my armour gets below 30%.
