I think this may be impossible but try to do the game with just the original ship (No modifications).
Rules:
1. No upgrading other than buying a new ship.
2. No plug ins
3. You must finish all the central objectives to finish.
4. Strict play is optional!!

Aside from the fact that it is impossible to complete all central objectives...
Modification of ships is one of the most loved features in EVO. It gives pilots more individuality than just a ship choice. Sorry to burst your bubble, but thats like saying play the game without a good part of the game.
