    • Secession/ Disabling the Disco Bison

I've been given the mission to disable the C.C. Bomber (in Afen). When I got there, the comm pict shows it as the bomber, but the "screen" shows the Disco Bison. I've tried to disable it with SAD's, SAE's, Pursuit Missiles, Dispersal Rockets, and even the Forklift. Very little effect. I've got the Mass Flare, but unfortunately, even one shot is enough to destroy him. Is there any effective way to disable the Disco Bison?

    • Are you using a plug-in? Which one? If not, what mission is this for?

he is using a plug. as that mission doesnt exist in the normal scenario. what plug i do not know.

I have never disabled the Dico Bison(probobly because i never tried). all i can suggest is to get the longest range primary in the plug and MP him. or get a **** load of SADs or SAEs and beat on him untill he is low on armor. beat on it wiith your primaries and youve done the deed.

    • I'm using the "Secession" plug (from the addons page). It continues the Huron storyline in which various independent worlds decide to band together and stop paying taxes to the UE to fight the war with the Voinians, a war which has no effect on their lives. They band together with the Strandless, take over FreePort, begin building a fleet, and eventually secede from Council rule. Also involved is the continuation of the F-25 storyline. Here Nathis plans to market the NPD, but because of problems with the device in the Ji Nebula, needs to fix it. After doing so, F-25 gets colonized... Not a bad little plug. Before playing you need to have completed the UE Central Objective, UE Cruiser string, freed Huron, done the Miranu/MTC missions, and done the Nebulae missions.
As far as the Disco Bison is concerned, usually you see just the one. But with this plug you see two! Also in my plugins folder are: "Ultimate Ships," and "Sound Makeover." I also was using MAGMA. Either I removed MAGMA or I did something else, but when told to disable the C.C. Bomber (which was being crewed by traitors), I went to Afen, and even though the target pict showed a picture of the Bomber, the target text said it was the Disco Bison, and the screen picture showed the Disco Bison, for that's what it was! Later (after being unable to disable it), I guess I removed MAGMA and everything showed the C.C. Bomber, which was veeeerrryyyy easy to disable (just a few shots of primaries). I was getting tired of getting hit by that darned Disco Machine Gun!
Try Secession! I really enjoyed it!

Heh, what a mean bug 🙂

    • I don't think it was a bug. I use "Pilot File Editor" and even though I am in a Frog ("Ultimate Ships") the picture it showed was of the C.C. Carrier (which carries two C.C. Bombers and two C.C. Fighters, not in bays, but on ship-mounted racks, like bombs. Cool, huh?). When I wasn't using MAGMA or Ultimate Ships, I could see I was in the Carrier. Unfortunately, the Carrier's shields are atrocious (they went down fast!). The only problem I had with using the Carrier was that it hadn't even been built yet! The only ones that had been built were the Bomber and the Fighter.
Now I'm trying to play "F-25" and am having trouble. I got the mission to escort the cargo ships to F-25 (which I did...they showed up!). I got there, the cargo ships showed up, and I landed...no dialogue box, message in the bbs, or anything in the bar. Apparently I landed, but the cargo ships didn't. Wonder why? And why take the long way around, through Hikeeba, when there is a more direct route through the Nebula?
Here's something else screwy: I'd max out on SAE launchers and SAE's (I think that's three launchers and 240 SAE's). When I'd hit the firing button, I would expect three SAE's to come flying out. Right? But in the game, it was if I got 240 launchers and 240 SAE's. When I hit the firing button, 240 SAE's came flying out in a circle around me! Sometimes the SAE circle would expand out, then contract back in, again and again! Boy was that weird. I think my most favorite weapons would have to be the Mass Flare and the Disco Machine Gun.

    • I'm afraid you really do need to bo just one plug at a time, or you run the risk of incompatabilities. It might be worth creating a fresh pilot and doing NO MISSIONS AT ALL. Simply fly around the 'fertiliser run' gradually hiring escorts so you're making decent money. In this way, you could legitimately get yourself a few million without setting any mission bits which might upset any large-scale plug.

Dismiss your escorts, land, leave, and quit the game. Then duplicate the pilot file. Thus, you can have a quick start to any large-scale plug you care to download. It's when you can't face working it all up from scratch again and you decide to just lob an extra plug into the folder to see what'll happen... that's when you start corrupting things. Small plugs such as 'Mars colony' and 'Beyond the Crescent' shouldn't conflict. Cosmetic plugs such as 'Magma' shouldn't interfere with other plugs, except that the other graphics will probably still be in top-down view. Large plugs such as 'Reign of the Voinians' and 'F-25' will do horrible things if you try to run 'em together, because they demand the same resources.

    • One of the plugins I was using was "Ultimate Ships." This plug gives you the ability to buy either the Disco Bison, a Kestrel, or a Frog (a weird-looking, but my favorite, ship). Each of these ships are invincible. So in my Frog, I encountered the Disco Bison (C.C. Bomber). When I took the plug out, I find myself in the C.C. Carrier, and simply "primaried" him into disable-ness. I finally finished!

      Ahem. Listen.

      Don't. Mix. Plugins.

I think we've said that enough times now.
