    • 'Super' Ships

This may seem a tad stupid, but has anyone out there taken on a 'super' ship, like the UES Incontrovertible, (heaven forbid) Matt Burch's ship, or any others, and survived to tell the tale?

      Regards

    • In experimenting, yes. The UES Incontrovertible is basically like a Carrier in the body of a Destroyer, i.e. it has several fighters. Nothing too big...However, I wouldn't just take on a UE ship. I have these twisted morals in EV, as in, unless accidental, I will never just take out a UE cruiser for fun(even if I am an Honored Leader...)

    • I got in an accidental firefight with Andrew Welch while hunting renegades. I captured the ship, surprisingly. I was seriously hurt by those Neutron Turrets. Why a UE Freighter? At least a CW or something.

    • I often attack uniques. Once you've got the best ship money can buy, where else does challenge reside within the game?

I've killed the Disco Bison, but I had a full set of escorts at the time. I wanted to capture the thing, but it blew to pieces before I could call off my dogs. Next time perhaps...

When capturing uniques, don't elect to use them as your own ship... keep them as escorts. It stops them reverting to basic form as soon as you land.

What were you piloting? I've sat on it with an Igazra, fully armed and extensively upgraded, and if I remember correctly, it's shields didn't go down...

    • Now here's a tale to tell. Who's managed to beat John Cook with no cheats? Huh? Huh?

Yeah, i've tried. I always lose though 😄

    • Does the Monty count as a cheat? Depending on which board i'm at it seems that people think it's either a strategy that takes advantage of the AI :D, or that it is as blatant a cheat as tinkering with the files with Res-Edit :frown:. If it's not a cheat then yes I have disabled Cook without cheating. 😛

It's not a cheat to simply find yourself doing it occassionally, but it is a cheat to use it in situations where you would otherwise not win (i.e. it's okay to use it as a shortcut instead of strafing, but in your case, it's a neat).

And other boards talking about EV:O? This is the EVO board. Where you looking, man?

    • Was it me, but did John Cook attack everybody, regardless of what vessel they were piloting?

    • Well, Chef Boyardee (J. Cook) here does attack everybody. EVERYBODY! HE WILL DESTR...sorry, lost my head. The barbarian accountant. Not easy to kill.

Andrew Welch has a Luxery Liner in EV, but that was easy to take down.

I've taken on Matt, Andrew, and the UES Incontrovertible, and won. Sadly, I use version 1.0.0, which doesn't seem to feature the Disco Bison I seem to hear so much about. Pity, I'd like to take it on some day......

    • I take on every unique ship I see. Even if it will ruin my status. I usually then take over the systems. I'm not scared of fighting any ship because I know with the strategy I've been using since I first got the game(when it came out) that I can take out any ship.

    • John Cook is fairly easy to take out in an upgraded CW or better, I couldn't come close to toasting the Disco Bison however. Maybe that has something to do with my affinity for escorts.

    • I encountered the U.E.S. Incontrovertible pretty early on in a Helian, suffice to say I didn't risk engaging it. I was doing a mission in the Zachit string, can't remember which one but I had to blow up a lot of ships, and Matt Burch happened to be there. He layed the smack down on those renegades and didn't leave a whole lot for me to do, in contrast, I accidentally shot the Disco Bison whilst fighting voinians and it nailed me. I've also encountered an Azdgari Warship that attacks everything it sees, but I can't remember what it was called though.
