Small problem here. I was making a ship and apparently no outfits are allowed. I check one item that takes up space, an example being afterburner. I hit calculate and I wind up with negative free space. So how can I make a regular ship?

Well, if you win melees you get bonus money to do stuff. I guess I'll give bonuses before the tournament starts too, that could be a good idea.

Also, your weapons don't get depleted; it'd be too difficult to figure out which ships fired how many missiles. They're refilled for free.

To keep you posted, I'll post results on this board as well as the EVO SMC page, and I'll also e-mail the contestants. So three sources (darn, that's a lot of work, but oh well). And it's on Sunday.

That's strange...it seems to work fine for me. I put an afterburner on a shuttlecraft and it still has 25 tons left. I'm not sure what the problem is; make sure the page loaded correctly and that you're not checking other outfits that you're not noticing.

If it ends up not working, and you want to participate enough that you'd be willing to give up convenience, you can send me your entry anyway, and I'll just tell you how much free space you have left. I don't see why it doesn't work though, since putting afterburners on stock Kraits and Shuttlecrafts still gives me positive space.

Otherwise, I can't fix a problem that doesn't exist for me. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I wish we could watch the contest... would there be any chance of pointing a webcam at screen of the tournament computer?

Or how about capturing a movie of some of the more notable matches, and posting it on the 'web somewhere, for future download?

Looks interesting - I sent in a very creative ship design (not sure how well it'll fight, but it'll be fun to see :D). Great idea with this contest.

I think I know why the form doesn't work for some people - it won't work right in Netscape, but works fine for me in Internet Explorer.

I assume the forklift is not allowed except as a cheat? It doesn't make sense to include it, since one hit with a forklift is enough to take out all but the strongest ships.

Firebird, I'm really sorry, I sent two extra ship on accident. The one with neutron turrets and needles that fits into all of the requirements is the right one. Sorry about that.

Yes, of course. Have fun trying to fit that on your ship though. BTW, I put the forklift there for a reason; I thought it'd be interesting to have it there. Of course, if it turns out to be too powerful, I can always adjust the stats and stuff.

Hmm, this is probably the shield regeneration problem; Netscape might not like the repeating decimals. Oh well, I think most of you have a good enough idea of your stats anyway.

Well, the problem with a webcam is that my connection to the 'net is a 33.6K modem (that never connects higher than 28.8), so the frame rate would be something like 30 seconds per frame. :frown:

As for a movie, I haven't purchased the latest version of Snapz Pro; I can't give any movies. I'll do some screenshots, but that pales in comparison. Also, the bandwidth is also a problem with movies, since I can't be uploading multiple 20 meg movies very easily on my dialup.

I'll write stuff though. If I have the time, I'll try to turn them into stories of some sort.

It is my assumption that you will be making a plug with a new system in which you will place the ships. If you could post this, then we could watch our own battles. I don't think that it would be more then a few K since it doesn't have any graphics.

Yes, but then you'd be able to figure out other players' exact stats. It's my intention to keep things fuzzy but give you an idea of what opponents have in the reports so that you can't figure out exactly how to fight others (otherwise people's stats would have less variation, making it less interesting).

I'll release the plug-in after each contest though, like Jason Meltzer did for his supership contest (I lost that plug-in; does anyone have that by any chance and can e-mail it to me?).
