Yes, the (url="http://"http://storm.prohosting.com/cyml/evosmc/")EV Override Ship Modification Contest(/url) is finally here! (okay, so I haven't said much about this before, but here it is)
What is this contest? It's a contest similar to Jason Meltzer's EV Ship Design Contest years ago when contestants "designed" ships that had certain values for shields and speed and weapons and stuff and were battled against each other using the EV engine (actually using a plug-in similar to Arena).
The different is in the SMC, contestants will start with a ship hull and outfit it with outfits (duh), under certain restrictions. Instead of a generic tournament, I'm turning it (well, trying anyway) into a sport. The system most closely resembles NBA basketball, but in future contests I'm willing to listen to suggestions.
So head over to the (url="http://"http://storm.prohosting.com/cyml/evosmc/")EVO SMC Page(/url) and check it out (and it'll be explained in more detail there). The registration deadline is this Saturday. Keep in mind that this is the first time I'm doing this, and I may change certain things, since I don't know how things will go (for instance, I might change the division structure according to the number of people who sign up). In that case I'll let everyone know. If people have suggestions for future contests, please suggest them after I have a chance to see how this turns out.
If you have any questions, or if you have any problems, please either e-mail me or reply to this post.
---EDIT---
A few things have come up, so here are some updates:
1. Forget the class requirement. You can now submit any ship class you want (if you submitted earlier, submit again; I'll take your most recent entry). I'll update this on the actual page when I get time (probably tomorrow). The 25 million credit limit still applies.
2. Don't forget to click "Calculate" before submitting your entry. This lets you check on your ship's stats (so you don't end up with a ship with -500 tons of space free).
3. At some point, you might want to read all the info on how the contest is run if you haven't already; you don't have to now if you don't feel like it. It's a good idea though, because you might miss the parts on how to modify your ship. I'm going to make another change too -- before the actual tournament (after regular season) starts, all qualifying contestants get an extra 20 tons of space and 2 million credits, regardless of what they had earlier.
---ALSO---
If you sent an entry and didn't get a reply, it most likely means that I received it and there was nothing wrong with it. I'll send confirmations when I get time to organize everything, probably in a day or two.
---YET ANOTHER EDIT---
Argh, someone just pointed this out to me...there's a limit of 5 fighters per ship since EVO has that 36 ship in a system limit (too messy for melees). The tournament will allow more, since it's all dueling, but that's the tournament. Again, I'll fix this on the page tomorrow, yadda yadda yadda.
