The Warship convoy arrived at the outer sensor range of the Azdgari system and waited for a pair of Azdgari Arada's to come and scan them. However, as soon as the Arada's got within range, all of the ships opened fire on them and the three Crescent Warships sped towards each of the three moons.As soon as the Aradas were destroyed, the other ships formed a defensive screen around the CW's and armed the rest of their weapons.

The Fallen Angel , Angel's Lair , and the remaining dozen Crescent Fighters were in low orbit of Azdgari,within the orbit of Veltes,the closest orbiting of the three moons.
All the SADs on the two warships had undergone the quick and easy retooling process to make them into HAK modules,which were faster and more accurate.

Accessing CresNet(the Crescent-wide information network) traffic reports and comparing with the distress beacon triangulations of he three disabled Aradas, Saraine figured out that the Aradas were moving through Zidagar space,heading for Azdgari territory.Yet they were disabled-how could that be?

Saraine was happy to see the Miranu vessels enter the Azdgari system and shocked to see them open fire on the Azdgari.
As Azdgari vessels swarmed to the defence,Saraine sent the dozen Fighters to join the attack.
Far from the battle field,the Fallen Angel and Angel's Lair could only launch HAKs from long distance at the three Miranu modified Crescent Warships, trying to disable them.

The Miranu had clearly betrayed them the only good point to it was that no Strand would trade with an untrustworthy race like the Miranu anymore.In several years,much of the Miranu's economy would be kaput.

MOD: The Zacha have to upgrade a certain weapon, a general upgrade wouldn't accomplish anything. Keep in mind there's a good chance the miranu would share their primary weapon- how about upgrading the pursuit missile for more hit power?

The Azdgari soon find out of the Miranu attack, and decides to defend their space, and send 6 azdgari warships to the Azdgari system, careful not to show any of their new ship classes.

Two Laziras broke off of the defensive formation and headed straight at the Angels Lair and Fallen Angel. When they had closed to a few kilometers, they opened their cargo bay doors, armed the SAD's(50 Each), and gave them their targets. The six CF's from the CW's Broke off and engaged the Dark Angels squadron of Fighters.

OOC:REDchigh,Azdgari is ithe home system of the Azdgari.Wouldn't they have a large fleet insystem at all times anyway?
OOC2:Benden, there's no way your CWs could get to the moons in "only a few minutes" even under normal, peace-time conditions. Right now they're being battered by the Dark Angels and the Azdgari system defence fleet.

As there were only six Miranu CFs compared to the dozen of the Dark Angels, the Dark Angels were able to pair up their CFs to go after one Miranu fighter each.
As the Dark Angel fighters were faster and more powerful,they easily finished off the Miranu fighters.

The pair of Miranu Laziras were immediately targeted and came under a hail of HAK fire, as well as fire from the Phase cannons.
As the Angel's Lair had the shielding of three CWs and ten phase turrets, the Lazira attacking it was quickly ripped apart, and the Angel's Lair turned to focus it's attention to the other Lazira.
The Fallen Angel was massively upgraded for a CW, and the two Dark Angel flagships used their phase turrets to quickly destroy the other Lazira, while continuing to fire HAKs at the Miranu CWs.
By focusing their HAKs on one CW at a time(8 HAKS launch at once), they managed to destroy one of the CWs.They'd been trying to disable the CWs, but when the CW exploded it's antimatter detonation ripped through the defensive formation, blowing apart Miranu Aradas like paper.
The pair of Dark Angel ships turned their HAK fire to the next CW, and waited for Azdgari reinforcements to arrive.

Paul recieved a message just after the first of the CW's exploded. "Captain, transmit this code to our ships in the Azdgari System. They will know what to do." They were goining to transmit a code at FTL speeds so that the message would get there in a few seconds instead of minutes. The computers would read it, display the appropriate message to crews, and run a different nav program on the Suicide Warships(SW's). The remaining SW's assumed new targets, and warmed up their hyperspace engines. The remaining ships moved in closer to the SW's, and began defense barrages against the fighters, 3 of them immediately fried, with another 4 taking damage to their shields. 80 out of the 100 SAD's launched by the Lazira's had hit, doing damage to the Angels Lair and Fallen Angel. Paul then sent a message to the Voinians.

OOC:Benden,the Azdgari have the best shields.Modified Voinian ships cannot be "many times better than any of your foes".
OOC2:No, you can't jump in a system. The readme which comes with EVO states "In order for a ship’s powerful hyperdrive engines to operate properly, a ship must be free from a planet’s gravity well and have a relatively low velocity, and the coordinates of the destination star system must be locked into the ship’s computer. In addition, starships can only hyperjump along “warp lines,” which are regions of equipotential relativistic flux between two star systems. Each systems has a few warp lines to other star systems, and you can only jump between two systems which are linked by a single warp line."
You don't find warp lines indide a star system, so you can't jump in a system.Besides, if you could jump in a system, as soon as you got into a gravity well the gravity well would do weird things to the hyperspace and probably smear you over the star system.OK?

Saraine watched as his fighters were destroyed or disabled.
The Fallen Angel and Angel's Lair had taken damage- it was only a blessing that conventional SADs were as inaccurate as they were.
HAKs, by comparison, had much better guidance, and always hit their target.
Seeing that the defending Miranu ships had moved closer to the CWs, the two Dark Angel starships frantically stepped up their fire, concentrating on the most damaged CW.
Although it had better shields than a standard CW, the CW was still unable to stand up to the near-constant barrage of HAKs, and it's shields dropped and it's antimatter containment bottles failed.
The antimatter explosion took out the few remaining Miranu Aradas-most of them having been destroyed by the destruction of the first Miranu CW- and destroyed two Laziras as well.
All the other escort craft were damaged by the blast wave, including the final CW, which was now coming under HAK fire from the Angel's Lair and Fallen Angel.

Ships CAN hyperspace in system for ramming.

As the six azdgari warsips jump in, it is too late.. The Dark angels are being battered hard, and even with the HAK's doing their part, the battle is still not going well..

"Shade, Back away, let the miranu do what they want. I repeat, retreat all forces."

The Miranu barely notice the Dark Angels actually backing off, and suddenly realize their chance to take out the moons. They initiate hyperspace engines on a ramming course, and the Dark Angels dont even see it happen- hyperspace is so close ot the speed of light, the moons are nothing more than debri before the pilots in system realize what happened. Although the moons are completely destroyed, all if not lost. A message was sent to the Kade system, sending all data on Azdgari weapons and secret documents, and even though nearly 10 billion civilians were vaporized, the Azdgari shed no tears, for revenge will come soon enough. A message is sent to all reaches of the galaxy, with pictures of the miranu assault.

Attention. Earlier today, the miranu launched an unprovoked assault on the three Azdgari bases in the Azdgari home system, and, unprovoked, they vaporized several billion inhabitants with antimatter. Their plan was deadly, and struck with suprising efficiency. Their ships were loaded with antimatter, then rammed into the Azdgari planneds at hyperspace speeds. There was no chance of escape for the inhabitants. We know that we have not been the most honorable race in the past, but we have pictures of the miranu attack, and the aftermath, and any test will show the pictures will not forged. The Miranu will claim that We attacked them, however we were only defending "The Rock", a Renegade Base in North Tip, and we didn't destroy any more Miranu Ships than we had to, and when we asked for mutual compensation, we sent them several million credits to build us some ships, and what do they do? Destroy our most important bases. We will not tolerate this, and we hope that other members of the Galaxy will not be decieved by this chaotic and vengeful race, named the Miranu.

Severely battered,the Angel's Lair and Fallen Angel retreated from the Azdgari system, heading to Kade.
The only good point about the whole thing was the fact that all the Strands would probably no longer trade with the Miranu-after all, who would trust them not to exaggerate some slight beyond all proportion and bombard a civilian planet with antimatter freighters or some such?
As the Miranu were a trading nation, their economy would probably collapse within several years if this happened, or at least suffer a major blow.
But Shade was already beginning to plan, to make the best out of a poor situation
Firstly,Shade had decided that their HAKs, although faster and more accurate than standard SADs, were not powerful enough.
By replacing their conventional phased-plasma warheads with highly volatile ionised hyperspace fuel,the HAKs would be made only a little less powerful than the Igadzra SAE.
The emphasis would again be on making them easy to convert from SADs into the new form, so that the Dark Angels could save on costs.
Shade named the new idea TRack And Kill modules, or TRAKs.

Also, the destruction of the moons of Azdgari had left many ore-rich asteroids- previously the moons' rocky cores- orbiting Azdgari.
If the Azdgari would let the Dark Angels mine these asteroids, then they would have a substantial and secure source of revenue.

Cap'n Redeye orders that in three separate locations around Voinian space, thirty frigates apiece should be completed within 9 posts(27 posts total) to defend the Empire's borders.

He then looks at his reports and notices that a facility to speed up research has been constructed on Voina, so he orders the facility to help cut the time to research the Gunship in half. He assigns three other research facilities to do the same, so the Gunship, which is due to be completed in sixteen posts normally, will now be completed in four posts. The Ekiup station upgrade is done, and is concentrating on upgrading the Interceptor, due to be completed in eight posts. The secret project will be completed in 9 posts.

Paul stood in behind the podium, and looked at the holocameras that were broadcasting to worlds all across space, and spoke. "Fellow beings. Minutes ago, I incited an attack against the Azdgari worlds in retaliation for their consortion with the Renegades which have plagued us, and for taking part in the deaths of several Miranu. I call upon the Zidagar, who fought along side us at the Rout of the Rock, and the Igazdra, who have their own personal reasons for fighting the Azdgari. All should know now, that for every Miranu life hindered or extinguished by any foreign agency, we shall strike back at you. We have stood idle long enough. Help us now, or stay out of the way." With that he walked off stage, toward a group of scientists who had arrived during his speech. "I have talked the Voinians into helping us," he told them. "However, they wish to have something in return. I need you to go back to your research, and make shields which recharge much faster. Military Intel has some information for you from a few captured Azdgari vessels, and a few little tidbits of information which they have gleaned from talks with Azdgari scientists. I wish this ready as soon as possible." With that, he walked away from them to, toward his new ship the M.D.S. Argentium Vengeance. It was a Command-Class CW, recently purchased and just put into service the other day. He typed up a message to the Provisional Council, and told them that the Wartime Funds were to be placed in the military credit accounts from which the miranu could purchase ships, and that the researchers he had just talked to were to have as much as they needed to get the shielding researched as soon as possible.
