    • Requesting assistance on, er, requesting assistance

Hi - I've been playing EV and EVO for years, and there's one thing I've noticed in both games which seems a little weird. When hailing a craft, there's the option of 'requesting assistance'. It obviously comes in handy when you've run out of fuel, but when under attack it seems every, and I mean every neutral ship (ie not one that is already an enemy or an ally), even the massive sinister planet-stomping civilisation-destroying...(snip)...ships will say something like 'No way' or 'Not a chance'. Any ideas why, or if i'm wrong, which ships will respond positively? - Cheers 🙂

    • No ships will, because they are all buttheads. 😉

    • Wrong, my friend. In EVO, the Zachit will respond and fight for you. (if my memory serves me)

Hmm, I understand that that would work if under attack by pirates, but they'd attack them anyway, right? But say I was working for the Zidagar, and some Azdgari attacked me, would the Zacha come to my assistance then, assuming I was already a member of the Zachit?

    • I've noticed that also. But I agree with Overrider.

    • It's not just a feature to annoy you. You can have ships that will help you; it's just that after much thought and consideration, it was obviously decided it wouldn't fit in both EV and EVO galaxies. I think that plug-in developers will be able to use this.

A feature to look out for in the upcoming NOVA, perhaps? 😉

Indeed. There is a DoGoodSamaritan (or something along those lines) flag you can set for governments -- while I'm unsure of what exactly that does, I'm sure that it makes that government more helpful in some way.

EVula, I'm shocked. You of all people should know what the (sp?) DoGoodSamaritan flag does! it makes it so that if you attack anyone not an enemy, that includes a trader, in their space, the govt'll attack you.

Oh, and the Zachit will probably attack the Azdgari.. I dont know.. I know that I've gotten a Zacha fighter to attack a pers. that was hostile... for like 10,000 credits..

In the latest revision of the EV Nova Resource Bible posted recently by Matt Burch, the description of the 'Ignore ships of this government in the DoGoodSamaritan function' government flag has been changed to read 'Nosy ships of other non-allied governments ignore ships of this govt that are under attack'. What you're talking about sounds like a combination of the 'interceptor' AI and the 'nosy' ('Ships of this govt will attack the player in non-allied systems if he's a criminal there') government flag.
