I've noticed this station in EVO and I've never landed on it. Gadzair i think. It's official government is "the council" I think. Is there any significance to this system, any special items/missions you can get there?

Actually, you can't land there unless you conquer it. The Council are a mysterious group of Gadzair, who, in my opinion, are insanely corrupt. Crescent Station in the Kade system was designed to seal the one hyperspace link that leads beyond the Crescent. Also, they vetoed the Miranu attempt at creating peace between the Strands, and get really pissed off at you if you side with one of the Strands. I think it's fairly obvious that they want the Strand Wars to happen, so that the three Strands don't work together to figure out what they're up to and destroy Crescent Station. What they're guarding beyond the Crescent, nobody knows...

I believe it was made for plugin developers to fiddle around with. There are plenty of plugins that do this. Beyond the Crescent is a good plugin of that type. And you can land there without conquering it, by finding a mission (just an ordinary mission computer mission) with a destination of Council Station. Such a mission, however, is very, very, very rare.

Yeah, I figured that out during a break with my driving instructor (don't know why). It just hit me all of a sudden and I was like - WOW. Yes, like - WOW definetly describes it. I played the game for a year and never figured it out. I thought they might have a common ancenstor but it was only once I came to these boards that someone told me it's the Gadzair, that's one I didn't get.

My theory on the Council goes as follows:
Long ago,far beynd the Crescent,there was a race known as the Gadzair.The Gadzair used their advanced technology to seed their galaxy with sentient life,obeying a strict covenant of randomness in their creations,never interfering with the development of one of their Children races.
Then a renegade group of Gadzair commited the ultimate crime-they created a race soley to serve them.
The Gadzair drove the renegades out,and purged their galaxy of the renegade's servitors.
The renegades fled through a strange form of hyperlink to the Milky Way.
Settling on a world they named Gadzair,they began to build a new empire upon newly created servitor races.
Eventually news filtered back to the Gadair,who sent a punitive force to eliminate the renegades once and for all.
After Gadzair had been razed,the renegades orbiting command station managed to defeat the Gadzair strike force.They were the only renegades left.
To prevent further retaliation by the Gadzair, the renegades sealed off the hyperlink to their home galaxy.
Yet they continued to plot revenge upon the Gadzair,and created a race they considered perfect for one purpose;strife.
The race was seeded on Igadzra,Zidagar and Azdgari, and left to expand.
Careful manipulation by the renegade Council brought the Strands into war.
It is a war which has continued for ten thousand years,with militsry technology escalating in it's power and destructiveness.
Which is precisely what the Council wants;when the technologies of their Children are good enough,they shall step from the shadows,take control of the Strands, and direct them in the long-awaited crusade agains the Gadzair.
