    • If I demand tribute from a Renegade planet...

...will everyone else be pissed? It seems logical that they won't be, but I'm afraid to try.

    • Only other renegades.

    • Next time you wanna see what happens, just back up your pilot somewhere. If you do something, then everyone hates you, you can just trash the newer pilot, then restore the one that hadn't pissed everyone off.

    • Argh! I hate renegade bases! For some reason, even though I can capture Igadzra planets pretty easily, I can never capture a renegade one. I dunno what it is, but even 6 Igazra escorts can't stop a massive horde of beyond weak ships.

      ------------------

    • Which Renagades, North or South tip or UE?
Actually you'd probably be better off with faster escorts. The defence fleets go straight for you so they are probably flying straight past your fleet. If you can get some Azdagari warship escorts, complete with their Azdara bays. If not, buy a Azdara bay.

    • It is one of the unfortunate aspects of the EV:O engine that dominating a planet doesn't stop it from carrying on business as usual. I have a pilot file in which a large number of planets, moons and stations have been captured; just about every Azdgari planet, most Voinian, most Zidagar and most renegades.

Despite being dominated by a human overlord with firm ideas about which races should be allowed to live as a space-faring society and which should be bombed back into the stone age, galactic domination never affects the numbers in which 'enemy' spacecraft appear, or the technologies available to them.

Maybe things will be better in Nova... that's usually what people say.

Ok, concider this: You have dominated a Voinian planet in the Heart of Voinian space. Are the rest of the Voinians going to be happy? Chances are they will habg around in the system in the hope that you will return, so they can get their world back...
Or think of it not that you are governing the planet, but just accepting tribute. You can't govern a planet whilst galavanting around the galaxy dominating any planet you see fit... The last government remains in control but just pays you to not attack again.

    • I don't recall since it's been a while since I played EV:O(been playing POG, and waiting
for Nova to be released), but if you successfully dominate a planet are you able to then
purchase everything that planet offers in the way of technology, even if it normally
      wouldn't be available to you?

Ie, if you capture a voinian world that sold ships(as some do when you switch sides),
can you purchase their ships and technologies as if you had switched sides? I don't
recall this being the case, though if you had dominated the planet and were Overlording
it, their resources should be available to you.

The same for the Strands planets, where you need to go so far in their government
before some of their finer technologies become available to you. If you subdue a
planet where it would normally be sold to you if you had a position in their
government that allowed the sale of that tech, then it should be available to you
      as their Overlord.

      Will Nova address this?

Shoot 'em with everything you've got. If anything still lives, shoot 'em again.

    • No, domination does not change your access to their technology.

You can do this, in a way, although it will be a bit more of a 'universal' effect. What you do is have a mission start on a planet that has been dominated (a specific mission for each government would work best). Have that mission give you the desired "access codes" to purchase that government's ships on that planet. It wouldn't be too strange because, in keeping with the Voinian example, you probably wouldn't be able to land on another Voinian planet to see if you can get stuff there without defeating the defense fleet.
