      I've decided to undertake this task, but I really can't remember the rules. I'm not playing strict play BTW.
      Are you allowed to hire escorts?
      What ships can you use for hauling cargo? (Other than the shuttle).
      Anyone got any advice?

      You can really make your own rules... no azdaras or azdgari and no escorts were the most important I think :).

      Sheesh! Is this challenge actually possible without Dospect? My shields seem to go in under a second in the strand!

      Heh, it might be a good idea not to go into that sort of hostile space yet :). Stay in the shuttle and do the Paaren Station missions, then as you say, dospect helps out no end!

      Its possible, but I wouldn't want to try it.
      Just finished it myself, using crescent fighters for UE, miranu, and Azgari.
      Ended up going through six of them, since having to constantly switch
      between having dospect armor and cargo upgrades....

      I'm doing the Zidagar string in my CF but I can't find the second half of it! I need that space upgrade!
      Incedently, why is it I can equip my CF with 5 phase cannons, but only 4 of any other type of cannon?

      Heh, make sure your CF is the one you want to keep for a long time before you get the systems upgrade :). And I think that the phase cannon is, for some reason, the only one in the game that you can ever have 5 of.. not just for a CF :).

      Personally, I think that the UE Fighter is the best ship to use for the Crew of One Challenge. You can get 4 swivel phase cannons, 2 fuel tanks, a fuel scoop, and 2 cargo expansions, which gives you 21 tons of cargo space and around 5 jumps of fuel. Pretty nice!

      Hmmm...

      From memory this is the current incarnation of the Changeling:
      Cresent fighter
      5 phase cannons
      2 Fuel tanks
      1 fuel scoop
      Dospect armour
      Needle jammer
      ECM system
      Zidagar ECM system
      Afterburner
      All sensor upgrades
      Cloak
      auto-refueler (absolutely vital.)

      Speed: 450
      Turning: 180/second
      Cargo space: 5 tons
      Fuel: 5 jumps

      This is a general Strand fitting. When fighting Voinians I generally replace 4 of the phase cannons with blaze and either keep the other one or replace it with another fuel scoop. If I need to ferry cargo I will usually sell most of my cannons to by a cargo upgrade and rely on speed and dospect to get me through blockades.

      But enough statistics. What should I do with the extra 20 tons?

      I actually like the Voinian heavy fighter.

      Don't laugh! It has a lot of space if you buy lighter weapons, and if you can survive in it long enough to get somewhere with maneuverability and speed upgrades, it can be a damn good ship. The armor is especially useful in the crescent, and with all that room you can haul cargo and have decent armor at the same time.

      I couldn't complete it on strict. For a start fighters tend to blow up before I can remember what the eject key is.

      Incedently, the 20 tons has gone to an RCS upgrade (which has proven extremely useful) and 2 shield Gens.

      (incidentally the Voinian Interceptor has 2 crew, disqualifying it as well)
