    • The BEST (legitimate) way to make money in PoG is...

      Drug Running...

Drop by Master Nohrga (you do need to be playing in Trinity), buy up as much of any of the assorted flowers, herbs, etc that he sells (plus one Nohrga gate stone). Go one square south and hop into the tunnel system. Come out at Gwyden Camp. Go two squares to the gwyden camp merchant, sell off all the plants at twice the price you bought them for, activate the Nohrga gate stone and...

voila, you have just doubled your money. Repeat until you get bored or have enough money for your wolf claws. The only problem is that your wrist may get tired from buying (and selling) so many echinoc flowers. This does make it essentially trivial to get yourself whatever ludicrous weaponry you want in a reasonable amount of time. And best of all, you havent (really) cheated. Exponential growth is your friend.

    • you could always buy books of minotaur for 6,000, then sell them at fungus's for 12,000 which is 2 sqaures away (one down, one to the right), and again, use the gate stone to return to the Noghra Village. ŇżÓ

    • i like to hang around the cyclops coast till I have about 10 - 20 thousand gp then return to fungus's and cash in all the stuff I found, but shuttelling from fungus's to Master Nohrga is faster.

    • can you tell me how to get to master nohrga?

    • What you're saying dos not work. Everyone else buys for 1/2 of what you can buy it for so the ppl who buy for dubble just give you what you bought it for.

We should note that this can only be done by Rangers. Norgha doesn't deal with other classes.

It does work because Nohrga sells herbs for half their standard price (what they cost at Gewin's place). Since both Fungus and Gwyden camp have buy and sell prices that are twice normal price, you are buying at half price, and selling at full price (half of twice the price). I just did it repeatedly, so I am fairly sure it works. It did make things a bit too easy though. After taking a lot of strength-enhancing powders and hard-shell powders, I killed the guardian ridiculously easily. He did four damage, and I didnt even block his blows. With the wolf claws and all the temporary potions I was doing 100-140 damage per hit, I think the ranger makes it a bit too easy. Off to try a game with the conjurer...

    • To make it 1 step easier and faster, find that travelling salesman and purchase a load
of Gwyden Camp travelling stones. Then when you get to Norhga's purchase travelling
stones to him. No more using the roads!

Just purchase all the ingrediants that you can(NOT equipment; he only sells ingrediants
cheaply!) and then use the Gwyden Camp stone. Poof! You are in the camp and it is
a couple steps to the merchant. Sell your payload and use the Norhga stone. Poof! You
are now in the village a few steps from Master Norhga.

I will say that this is ridiculous. In about 15 minutes I went from 2,000 gold to
512,000 gold. I started buying the Wild Thusy(sp?) herbs, which cost 75 gold / unit. Sold them for 150 gold / unit. When I had above 6,000 gold I was able to buy the minotaur tomes and then purchased cheaper herbs until I was broke. Once you can buy
the tomes things get faster(sucks selling 30-40 Wild Thusy plants.. much nicer to sell
      a couple tomes).

At that point buying enhancement potions, armor and weapons, etc, just isn't a challenge.
You can use a berglum stone(if you purchased a few of these) and then hop into the
Berglum tunnel(which is on the same screen where you "appear" with the stone, and hence,
no travelling) and travel to the Witches Finger tunnel entrance. At that point you can
hop into the cave, travel past/kill the red demon dogs, and jump out at Kalixa to buy
whatever you want. Then use the Norgha stone and you are back to exponential money
      growth.

So anyhow, not sure if this was intended by the authors or a "good idea with much
potential for abuse." But it is very doable.

This destroys the playingfield for the Ranger. I used this to generate 13.2 million gold in an hour. Im sure this was just over looked by Dee and the beta team but as a game flaw its not really a cheat. Nohgra should just not sell you more than one book. once you read it you have the ability to make the potions forever. then you be forced to use the wild thusle herbs and the boredom of buying and selling tons of items would be self limiting (after spend 7mil on potions i was DONE pushing buttons. if you drink more than 500 potions at once you crash almost everytime)

Limiting supply is good, but I also think nailing demand would also be a good way to
"fix" the economy. Imagine if there were a counter on each of the merchants, as well
as a gold slot. When the world loads each merchant is assigned a random amount of gold.
As time goes on their gold will slowly increase(they are trading items, and it should
generally be assumed they will be profitable). If you buy from them their gold will
also increase(as you are giving them gold for goods).

However when you sell items to them their gold supply should decrease. When they can
no longer afford to purchase items from you they should tell you that, and refuse to
buy anything. Then the waiting game ensues.

For most applications I think, if done right, the above would be unnoticed. As most
people go out on wild killing sprees and then return to town to sell items, well, the
time it takes to gain equipment would probably be sufficient to regenerate the merchants
gold supply. And if you have 20 ring of the gods, then you may have to visit every
merchant in the game to sell them all. But at the point in the game where you have
to worry about how you are going to sell all those rings, well, gold isn't really an
      issue anymore.

Anyhow, I wonder if something like this would be possible under the Coldstone engine
      to do inside a plugin...
