    • The 12th Brigade finallly reached Sol! The massive Fighter vs. Fighter battle was underway, but several UE Destroyer groups were approaching the battle. He ordered over the intercomm "All right this is it! Arm all rocket launchers. We can avoid the main fight by going around to the Voinian capitol ships' flank, then we'll have an advantage. 12th Brigade move out!" The destroyers flew in very tight formation to hide their real numbers, and flew past the main battle along to the back end of the Voinian fleet where there was practically no fighting. They then split up and ambushed the nearest capitol ships and the scant fighters that remained, the capitol ships mainly being Frigates. Caught unawares, the Voinian ships were disorganized and fell fast under the heavy rocket fire and blaze turrets. At least 6 Frigates fell quickly this way, and before a proper retaliation was organized the 12th Brigade had retreated behind the waves of UE Fighters. They came around from the back again, but from the opposite side, catching more of the ships off guard. The retaliation was quicker though since the Voinians were partially ready for another assault on their flank, although they were still slightly disorganized and they ships weren't fast enough to close the gap between the Destroyers, who would stop, fire off several rockets, and then retreat further back and fire more rockets with deadly effeciency. They then charged head-on, firing rockets and blaze turrets like mad, and suddenly retreated back around to the fighter squadrons that hadn't gone off to battle yet. They'd lost one Destroyer, but had taken out at least 12 Frigates as payback. We might stand a chance of winning after all... ESPilot thought as the fighters engaged madly, but the numbers were diminishing fast.

Cough, cough I'm afraid that's extrememly unrealistic. As agile as a krait may be, it would be easilly toasted by Voinian heavy fighters. In realistic terms, just the mass numbers of Voinian Fighters would give the krait fighters three to four times as many losses...

But remember, the fighters were ambushed. That means that the back half or so would have been unable to respond to the Krait fire. Sure, the rest of them could but with the amount of fire that a Krait can put out in a small period of time there are going to be a good amount of dead Voinans.

    • From the Bridge of the Triton Corsair Captain Skyblade was watching the battle. Vicious dogfights were breaking out all over the system, despite the heavy fighter's strict orders to stay in formation.
Slowly the combined Voinian fleet was making ground through the United Earth defences.
But the progress was painfully slow. Far too many brave Voinian captains were losing their lives.

      ===
In his quarters Aben Zin knew that time was running out. The ship was in uproar and it was quite clear what was happening. They were attacking Earth. It was time to act to, do or die.
All this he knew, but he didn't know how.
Just the the door swept open. Two heavily set Voinians entered. They were carrying neutron rifles and didn't look easy to overpower.
"Human, Commander Skyblade wants to speak with you. You are to come with us."
Zin got up and was marched along the corridor to the personel lift. He got in and was flanked immediatly by the Voinians.
The lift made it's way to the the Bridge.
Suddenly the lift was plunged into darkness. One of the fighters must have got through!
Zin barreled into where he knew one of the guards to be. Grappeling with the man he managed to grab a heavy neutron pistol and fire point blank into the Voinian. The flash from the gun was blinding. Luckily for Zin the other guard was finding it hard to bring his rifle to bear in the close confines of th lift. With another blinding flash he also slumped to the floor.

      ===
Struggeling to regain his breath, Aben Zin stood gasping in the lift. What now?
It was no use standing in a lift all day.
Standing back and closing his eyes he aimed at the door of the lift.
Then the lights returned and the lift continued it's ascent to the bridge.
Looks like he'd be meeting Skyblade after all...

The bar was silent, aghast at the images of destruction pouring in from Sol. As they watched, the holovid transmission, the one from the Golden Eye in orbit around Mars, showed a rocket approaching the camera fast. There was an explosion, and then the image flickered into static. The bartender quickly changed channels to the view from a robot probe a little outside Jupiter, which afforded as good a view of the carnage. Literally thousands of UE fighters weaved in and out of the slow-moving Voinian formations, wreaking havoc as they went. Hundreds of Voinian Cruisers poured heavy fire into UE Destroyer after Destroyer. A hundred or so strange-looking new UE ships spewed more UE fighters into the fray. The holovid screen was filled with blue and red fire and tens of thousands of rockets and hunter missiles. Hundreds of transient explosions lit up space for a second or two. It was hard to imagine that each meant that one young soldier was dying. By far, this was the biggest battle anyone had ever seen.

It was shayborg's and Starkiller's turn to stay in their ships at the moment, with a few dozen new recruits in helians; they'd launched to take down a krait or two that was harassing a few freighters in the system, and show the new helian pilots the ropes. From the cockpits of their ships, they all watched the battle. Suddenly, over the intercom came the voice of shayborg, emotion choking his voice. "We can't sit here and watch. We've got to go help. If they lose this battle, we'll all be Voinian slaves for the rest of our lives. Who's with me?" A chorus of "aye aye, captain" calls echoed on the comm channel, Starkiller informed the remaining HMF forces where they'd gone, and they jumped towards Sol ...

    • OOC: Hi Guys, This is my wopping second post. I love webstories and read this whole thread, in two days. Well here goes.
Ok im gonna represent Stellar Corp since that slot is not yet taken. I don't know what my fleet is yet so that will come later.
My ship is a modified Helian, stats later.

      ============================

LaVec was standing in the empty board room looking out the window at the silent night sky. Earth seemed so far away, and yet it was very close within the confines of his mind. War had come home, to Earth. But that was not his concern, who cared about the fate of earth, as long as the bottom line was kept in the black. He looked over his shoulder as the last of the members of the board filed out of the room. This meeting had been on that very topic.

There was a beep over the intercom, "Mr. Kordun, Katherine is here to see you, should I let her in".
LaVec turned from the stary nightscape and pressed the button to respond, "Yes Heather, show her in".

Moments later the door opened and Heather led Katherine into the room. It seems that Katherine had brought a friend along who entered the room hesitently behind Katherine. He was a tall man, and yet, he looked small as a mouse in LaVec's presence.

LaVec spoke with a smile on his lips, he had not lost his edge, "Tell me Kat who is your timid friend?", and he turned to Heather, "You may go home for the evening". With that the secretary shuffled out of the room. Kat looked over her shoulder at her friend, "Derek, come here, I would like you to meet Mr. LaVec Kordun, recently appointed Executive VP of Stellar Corp".

LaVec stepped forward to shake Derek's hand, "It is a pleasure to meet you Derek...?". Derek accepted the handshake and replied, "Jenson sir, its an honor to meet you". LaVec looked over at Kat, "What is this all about, I thought we would be alone this evening?". Hastily she replied, "We will be, its just that I wanted you to meet Mr. Jenson here, as he represents the group of individuals that you have been trying to make contact with. And besides we have plenty of time to be alone later", she said with a smile, "But this couldn't wait".

LaVec smiled at Derek, "I am sorry if I am being rude but im under alot of pressure what with Sol under attack and all".

"Thats ok sir, its no problem at all, I understand. I just wanted to meet you and tell you that the meeting is on, other than that I can leave, which I will. If its no trouble I will go now".

"No trouble at all Mr.Jenson", LaVec replied. And with that Derek let himself out.

Kat winked at LaVec, "Well now we have time to ourselves, hmm, dear". LaVec silently looked back at the nightscape that continued to filter throught the window, "Im afraid not hun, I have to leave within the hour, actually I must be off right away. I will see you when I get back, if I get back". Katherine nodded slowly, "I understand...".

"Oh by the way, would you get me in contact with the Captains of Freeport, I have to speak with them. Have the transmission routed to my ship. I will see you later Kat, and lots of love", he said as he departed the room and headed towards the spaceport.

Thirty minutes later he arrived at his ship the Starhunter Omega.
With well precticed precision he preped and climbed aboard his modified Helian.
Flippin on the comm, "This is the Starhunter Omega requesting clearance for take off, over".
" This is New Chicago traffic control, clearance is a go, you may lift off ".
With a smile LaVec kicked on the engines and took to the skies.

An hour later he had cleared the system's gravity well and was ready to enter hyperspace heading from Thoso to DSN-6004 on his way to Iothe. Looking down at the Nav panel LaVec made the final adjustments, checked the computer, and activated the hyperdrive. Everthing started to stretch as it allways does, the starscape tore into a field of lines, and everything went black.

      He was on his way...

    • The Triton Corsair was in hyperspace along with the rest of the 17th warfleet division (the humans don't yet know where we are) when the door of Skyblade's quarters exploded and fell to the floor. The human pilot who had been captured weeks ago stood at the smoking doorway with a neutron rifle, looking as if he were ready to kill Skyblade in a second's notice.

      Skyblade rose from his chair.

"Looks as though I should have kept you in a prison cell after all, wouldn't you say?" Skyblade said in a matter-of-fact tone. "For awhile I was beginning to trust you..."

Aben Zin pressed the neutron rifle closer to his chest and threatened to fire. "Sit down, commander Skyblade," he said in a hostile manner.

As Skyblade walked back to his desk at the risk of being killed, four Voinian marines who had heard all the commotion grabbed Zin from behind and forced him to the floor. The neutron rifle slid across the floor, safe from the hands of Zin.

The marines picked Zin up and approached Skyblade's desk.

"Let him go," Skyblade ordered the guards, "and leave me alone with this human. Only be sure to take the neutron rifle with you."

The marines exited the room, and Zin stood alone in Skyblade's quarters.

"Have a seat," Skyblade requested. "I understand you wanted to see me, or perhaps take my life? That I can't blame you of, for you have just as much reason to take my life as I do to attack your homeworld. What do you have to say?"

      = = = = = = = = = =

I'll post more on Ry'sern and the 92nd warfleet division's progress at Sol later. It's hard being the only Voinian poster, you know. 😉

Exactly. Not only that, but there hasn't yet been enough time for such a number of kraits to be manufactured. So (spl-cadet), why don't we just keep the Battle of Sol a United Earth / Voinian conflict, the way it really was...

    • Current United Earth Defense Fleet Numbers at Sol
      2300 Destroyers
      6000 Fighters

Admiral Ry'sern's Current 92nd Warfleet Division Numbers
      223 Cruisers
      475 Frigates
      1450 Heavy Fighters
      150 Supply Ships

      = = = = = = = = = =

Warships of both the Voinians and United Earth had now fully engaged in battle. The UE's strength came in numbers, while the stiff firepower of the Voinians prevailed. The Voinian cruisers were performing well, since the humans had no capital ship to combat them one on one.

The Voinians were gaining "ground" against the United Earth, though losses were mounting. The cruisers of the 92nd warfleet division spearheaded a counterattack against the human defense line, creating a clean hole. The UE on the other hand, fought back with all they had.

Ry'sern's cruiser came under attack by six United Earth fighters. Rockets pounded the thick armor, and blaze fire emerged from all directions. Ry'sern's modified flagship cruiser finished off the fighters in minutes, however, thanks to the eight neutron turrets which ripped the small crafts to dust.

Heavy Fighter losses were rising rapidly, however. Over 400 Voinian fighters had already been lost in a few hours of battle, and many more were suffering from the rockets of the UE destroyers and blaze fire of the fighters.

At one moment, a few frigates and a cruiser could be seen decimating a duo of destroyers, while seconds later, bands of UE destroyers could be seen shredding heavy fighters and frigates. Both sides were fighting bravely, but the Voinians couldn't afford heavy losses for much longer.

During the Voinian counterattack, the United Earth fleet was badly disorganized. The faltering defense line crumbled, and the humans began to withdraw to form a new defense line farther back. For the moment, the Voinians had been triumphant, but the battle was far from over. Both human and Voinian fleets spent a few hours regrouping and preparing to strike once again. Earth was to the human's back, while empty space was to the Voinian's. Ry'sern was beginning to seriously doubt Skyblade arriving in time...

United Earth Losses In This Post

Although the UE might have had a few more losses within this post, bare in mind that the number of Voinian cruisers would reck havoc against human vessels. Only two different classes of UE ships exist at the moment, so it is only realistic.

    • Red Squadron was now in the heat of the battle. They had managed to keep a tight formation the whole time, and so far, no one had been lost. So far Red Squadron had taken out 3 Vonian frigates, and 12 Vonian Heavy fighters. The extra reinforcements from Earth had made a huge difference in the battle, and the UE were definately winning. Thousands of destroyerd poured out blaze into the Vonian fleet, and explosians were everywhere, causing the kind of havoc that fighter pilots savour. "Red Squadron, let's go after something a little bigger this time, let's say, a cruiser! How about that one high and right."
"Righto Red Leader, it already looks like it's itching to die!" Red Squadron pulled a perfect turn and opened fire on the Vonian Cruiser. The Cruiser, already distracted by a pesky UE destroyer, didn't even knew what hit it. Azdara Ace knew, as did all other good pilots did, that seven UE Fighters firing in unison was equivalent to about 9 UE Destroyers firing. That's why Azdara Ace liked his squadron so tight.
The damage Red Squadron inflicted on the Cruiser was catastrophic, and it exploded in a gigantic fireball, taking 3 Vonian Heavy Fighters with it. "YEEEEE HAAAAHHH!!"
"Don't get over-confident guys, we got to be one-hundred and ten percent focused!" Azdara Ace knew that this was probably the end of his life, and he was ready to give it for the cause, but he wanted to kill as many Vonains as he could before he died.

      ------------------
You would have to be ignorant, derranged, demented, or dead to turn down the oppurtunity to fly an Azdara.

    • While the United Earth defense line regrouped several thousand kilometers away from Ry'sern's 92nd warfleet division, human fighters continued to make minor skirmishes on the Voinian line of attack. As the United Earth fleet pushed forward, the fighters had already began to destroy key warships.

The gigantic wave of human destroyers and fighters pushed forward. Once range permitted, thousands of rockets and blinding blaze fire thrashed the Voinian fleet. The Voinians responded with neutron fire and turreted rockets, but the focused numbers of the human counterattack were too much to handle. As the Voinian fleet line broke, it began to be repulsed. The United Earth had made a major counterattack.

As the 92nd fell back, losses were extrememly high. UE fighters swarmed the frigates and slow heavy fighters, while the destroyers made successful attempts to reduce the cruiser numbers. At this point in the battle, Voinian victory seemed impossible... The humans were content to die for their homeworld.

The human fleet pressed on. Explosians rocked the front, and Voinian hull parts were becoming more numerous than UE. The entire 92nd would soon be lost if this continued...

    • The 12th Brigade was fighting with the other destroyers, grouping into packs and ganging on one or two Voinian frigates and totally annihilating them. ESPilot ordered the 12th to retreat and let the ships recharge their shields. From the bridge of his destroyer he surveyed the massive Voinian attack fleet, and saw one particular Cruiser that seemed to be sort of guarded by a bunch of other ships. And there was just something about it....ESPilot said over to intercomm "Hey, you guys see that one Cruiser near the back, with alot of Frigates and some other Cruisers guarding it? I think that's their flagship. If we can get above most of the ships, and spearhead that one from above it, we might just turn the tide of this battle." (Since this isn't the actual game EVO we shouldn't be limited to moving in 2 dimensions) The 12th Brigade went up and forward, unti they were totally above all the combat. They flew right above Ry'Sern's flagship, which was guarded by about 12 Frigates and 3 Cruisers. "All right 12rh Brigade, aim for the bridge with rockets and fire all blaze turrets at will. Go!" All 21 destroyers hurtled down towards the Cruiser, firing off their remaining rockets and firing the blaze turrets like crazy, tearing away at the Cruiser's armor and taking it totally by surprise. As the first couple of fighters were being launched and the Frigates were just aiming their rockets, at least 3 well-aimed rockets struck the flagship's bridge! The thick but translucent armor that was the bridge window had shattered, sucking most of the bridge crew into space, and utterly destroying all the equipment. Exlposions boomed all over the ships hull as it exploded on a huge ball of flame, rocking all the ships and taking a few fighters with it. The 12th Brigade hit the afterburners and flew out at top speed, having sustained reasonable damage but caused alot more by destroying the 92nd warfleet's flagship, and Ry'Sern along with it.

    • The entire 92nd warfleet division was collapsing under the huge numbers of United Earth vessels. Now that Ry'sern and his flagship had gone down, many of the remaining Voinian warship commanders were beginning to panic and take their ships into total retreat. The broken Voinian offensive line had all but disappeared.

"Sir, I'm picking up a large fleet on my radar, coming directly behind us," a sensors operator aboard one of the United Earth flagship destroyers reported. "They are approaching rapidly, but I cannot yet detect what class vessels they are."

The captain seemed to take the news lightly. "No worry," he replied. "They're likely United Earth reinforcements, entering the battle to help us finish off the remaining Voinians."

The destroyer suddenly lurched forward. Flames and explosians emerged all across the bridge. Engines had been decimated, and many of the crew members had been wounded from the severe hit.

"What's going on!?" the captain said as he attempted to climb back into his chair. "Why is our ship disabled?"

The sensors operator glanced at his only functioning viewscreen. "The 17th Voinian warfleet division had arrived, sir. We've been ambushed."

Seconds later, the bridge exploded, and the destroyer was no more.

-Message Buoy - "Admiral Skyblade to the 92nd warfleet division. Help is on the way."

The United Earth forces which now had the 92nd warfleet on the run began to suffer extrememly high losses in a matter of seconds. Skyblade's fleet had attacked them from behind, and the humans were now paying for their nasty counterattack. Ry'sern, if he were alive, now would have understood Skyblade's delay. After receiving Ry'sern's message of the mined entrance from Centauri, Skyblade had gone through the Saalia and Liat systems days before the battle had begun. The payoff was utter surprise, and no mine strikes.

Thousands upon thousands of fresh Voinian vessels slashed at the backs of the United Earth defense fleet. Rockets fired, and neutron beams flew. In under a minute, hundreds of human destroyers were decimated before they knew what hit them. It wasn't until now that the United Earth realized they were in a trap, being attacked from both sides. With spirits raised, the shattered 92nd division turned around and fought back fiercely. UE fighters were seen exploding everywhere, in which the amazingly large rocket and neutron screen from behind had totally taken them from surprise. The humans were no longer certain of victory. Instead, defeat seemed likely...

The Triton Corsair plowed through the United Earth defense line with neutrons blazing. The hundreds of cruisers which escorted Skyblade's flagship decimated any destroyer that came close almost as fast as it could be seen. Entire fighter squadrons were being whiped out by the unavoidable amount of neutron fire. It was becoming a slaughter...

Although the Voinians were still outnumbered, the number of cruisers just couldn't be beaten back. The humans began to retreat in panic as their losses sored. Many more destroyers and fighters were lost as they attempted to withdraw, and some of the bravest United Earth commanders lost their lives in a small period of time.

Ten minutes of death and destruction later, the entire Sol system was quiet. The United Earth defense fleet had completely withdrawn to earth itself, which was barely visable from the Voinian's position. At last, the first day of the Battle of Sol had come to an end. Both sides regrouped their fleets and prepared to fight yet again the following earth day. Human sprites were shattered, but they were content to fight to the death.

Skyblade, learning that his friend and fellow commander Admiral Ry'sern had died, took the remaining 92nd warfleet division and joined forces with the 17th. There were now a very decent number of Voinian vessels, and the upcoming battle would be all the more even, if not in favor of the Voinians.

Zin- If you happen to reply to my old post regarding your entry to my quarters, we'll say it takes place while the 17th warfleet division is still in hyperspace.

    • Pyotr was sure he would have to use another escape pod soon. The Destroyer whipped into the skirmish, slightly below all the combat. It dodged (almost) most of the rockets slung it's way by the gaurding VH. fighters. It swooped up under a Frigate and fired 3 rockets and innumerous rounds of Blaze fire. The Frigate was... well, 'terminally disabled' after the attack. The Destroyer had blown the port side engine off, causing a meltdown. Pyotr felt the explosion from his living quarters, and braced himself for future impacts. He was ready to run for the escape pods, as he always was, at least after the two previous incedents. He looked out of the porthole, and saw a VH. fighter.
"Buh-lasteh heem!" He exclaimed. Instead of the fighter just going all-out on the Destroyer, is swerved to the side and hit and asteroid with a rocket. The asteroid shuddered, and careened toward the Destroyer. It started to move as Pyotr got up to run to the escape pods. He was already in one when the asteroid hit...

      What signiature?
      Ohhhhhhhhhhh...

    • OOC: Hey I have a quick question, don't you think that the UE would have some armour. At least a ten ton version, no way as good as even dospect but something. Like added titanium, or Carbide, or ceramsteel. What do you all think?

LaVec flipped on the comm as soon as he received the hail, "You may refer to me as Mr. Kordun, and I see that you are a man that gets right down to business. I would like to set up a meeting with you as soon as possible, I can be at Freeport in two days if that is acceptable. I cannot tell you anymore than that I have an offer that you cannot refuse and that I must meet with you in person. I look forward to your response, over ".

The outter doors to the twin ramscoops opened in the Starhunter Omega's hull. There was no time to waste, thought Mr. Kordun, as he patiently awaited a reply from OF. Barring conversation the Starhunter Omega was topped off and ready for hyperspace to Freeport from Iothe within the hour.

OOC: Katherine used her contacts to get ahold of the Captains and as usual Stellar Corp's name was never used. Just to let you know OF. To the rest have a happy battle of Sol -pulls out party favors and dances-.
