I use a UE Crusier with 8 launchers and 65 pods and with this arrangement you can take out an igazra with minimun damage. 10 percent or less damage. When you have DP launchers they release in salvos of 8. But another neat side effect is that the more of these launchers you get the faster the whole unit fires. Its almost like a firing bonus. I can release all my pods on a target in a matter of seconds. In one on one battles nothing beats it.

As I said before, I have no trouble with big ships. I tested out the usefullness of the pods on smaller vessels. and I found none. problem solved.

    • My heart belongs to the Miranu Defense Pod. 😛 They're dirt cheap, completely trustworthy and decently powerful, and the whole system is so light you can pack a lot of punch even into small ships. A Lazira with 4 defpod launchers fights like a full-scale capital ship, while an UE Cruiser with 8 launchers is akin to an angry god.

The Zidagar beam is very powerful on AI ships but a bit too resource-hogging on your own (fuel drain, gun slot). I'd like to try it on an Igazra with 8+2 fuel units once. 😛

    • I used to be a regular user of secondary weapons: rockets (non-turreted) in the galactic west, and dispersal rockets or pursuit missiles in the Crescent. Whatever I can lift off disabled hulks, really. I don't like buying ammo if I can avoid it... especially if the nearest outfitter with the right items is eight jumps away!

I recently got really into an alternative to secondary weapons though: really heavy primary weapons, and leave it at that. I'm currently flying a 'Voinian Arada' - buy a basic Arada, strip it and fit four neutron cannon.

That makes for a primary weapon load that weighs as much as a crescent fighter bay! It's harder to use than an Arada with swivel phase cannon, because (a) you have to bother to aim, and (🆒 there are some blind spots at extreme range. It really rips up targets, though, once you start hitting. When you're laying down that kind of damage, you don't NEED missiles.

If you can live without engine upgrades, you could replace one or two of the cannon with turrets (neutron of course), so you can continue doing damage to targets right through each pass. It depends how often you want to hit the 'r' key. Personally, though, I like the clean feel of a front-mounted armament. It's like you're flying a Fairchild A10, or something. Try it today.

    • Secondary weapons? Who needs em!!! 🙂

I'm flying a freight-courier right now, and my only weapons are 3 phase turrets. I've experienced with a few of the missiles, but have never found them to be that reliable. Instead, I rely on speed and maneuvering to get out of a tight spot (say, a swarm of Crescent fighters). Afterburners, some ECM, and a nice layer of Dospect armor keep me alive long enough to take out the fighters. When I see them, and they see me, I do a quick 180 and haul ass. They eventually catch up, but it strings them out so I only have to deal with a few at a time. I'm down to about 1/4 of the armor by the time I nail the last one, but that's better than I did before.

Are there any plugins out there to make the missiles track better?

    • I never use secondary weapons. Oh, sometimes I equip my azdara with needlemissiles, quite funny 🙂

Anyways, VoinianAmbassador, why´d you bring this topic up again?

    • I love my primaries. The Neutron Turret kicks ass when moounted on a UE Cruiser. Put Aggy upgrades (shield, Fighterbay, turning) and you are set. Launch the Azdaras and let them chew up incoming fighters while you engage capitol ships.

Because we've got just about zero traffic on the board at the moment, and I wanted to talk about ship outfitting and tactics. There used to be about five pages of threads which had been posted o in the last 20 days... now there's two. Where have all the EV:O'ers gone?
