    • Krait - 'Crew of One'

The Krait has a 35 ton capacity. Considering that you need to buy a Cargo pod (as the Krait has no cargo capacity) in order to do the required missions; how would you set up the ship? MartiNZ - tell us how you did it? I've tried the 'Crew of One' challenge in the Crescent Fighter and was amazed at how good this ship is. I'd never tried it before. With a couple of shield capacitors/boosters, 5 swivel phase cannons and an afterburner it was incredible.

    • Finally the people are coming around to support the glorious Crescent Fighter! And about the Krait Crew of One challenge - I think that's only a Krait for combat missions, and a Shuttle otherwise.

Or start a crew of 100,000,000 challenge(which isn't much of a challange) and use any ship you want. 😄

As the french probably wouldn't say.

    • well, part of the Crew of One challenge was no aggy stuff... so, that kinda rules of the Azdara.

I much prefer my "Crew of Igazra" challenge. (I made it up myself!) 😄

    • I don't know if anyone else wants to, but I would like to participate in a new Crew of One challenge. I wan't to take part in the last one, but it had already started.

    • Admiral Benden - when the next 'Crew of One' challenge starts I'll be there in my Crescent Fighter. Please let us all know if you hear anything!

    • What is this "crew of one challenge" bizniss, and how do I join?

No, the way MartinNZ did it was: Trade using the shuttle until you can afford the Krait, plus a small budget for improvements (cargo bay extension vital, for instance!). Buy the Krait, and keep the Krait. Use it for everything. That's why his achievement really blows me away. I was trying the same thing, but in a Krait you can get killed by a needle missile and one blaze shot. Even the humble Helian is a nightmare adversary!

    • Beowulf - In answer to your question, the Crew of One Challenge is something I created a couple of months ago. The idea was to get players who were tired of playing through the game in supersize warships to try something new. It was supposed to show what a lone pilot of enough skill could accomplish in the EVO galaxy. The challenge was about not having to depend on anyone but yourself.

As for joining the Challenge, it was never something that you had to join at a specific time. Anyone was free to try at any point... and in fact, you don't even have to tell us that you're trying, although most people did.

So feel free to give it a shot if you're interested. If you want something more formal, then consider the Challenge officially active again. The gauntlet has been thrown: who will pick it up?

Official Rules to the Crew of One Challenge (Revisited)

Complete the three Core Objectives (and as many others as possible) with the following restrictions:

      • Crew of One

      • No Escorts

      • No Azdgari

      • No Monty Python

And if you really want to impress me, do it all on Strict.

      bon chance,
      Paradigm

      ------------------

    • Would it be possible to compile a list of the various challenges out there?
("Crew of one" is definitely one of the more daunting ones.)

Another (not so much of a) challenge could be "The Voinian challenge?"

      1. Do at least the entire Voinian string
      2. Use only Voinian technology
(i.e, No earth ships - switch to voinain ship from shuttle asap,
        No captured non-voinian ships
No crescent or ue outfits/upgrades )
    • I tried something like this a few months ago: an 'Emalgha Challenge'. Instead of a human, you think of yourself as an Emalgha. Trade between Sol and Centauri until you can afford two fuel tanks, then held for Emalghion. Buy an Emalgha fighter, and get to work.

It hurts... worst of all is the upgrade path. An Emalgha freighter and then a warship conversion, and that's it. Those ships are so damn slow, that you can't run away from anything! I did manage to push back the Voinians, but there was a lot of reloading the game... you usually get toasted in the big fleet actions.

I once wrote a series of short stories about an Emalgha freighter with a human crew, so I felt obliged to test my story. Let me tell you though... nothing is easy in those ships. The fighter is actually not too bad, but the 'warship' is worse than a Freight-courier.
