    • So what to mods raise your karma for?

One more smiley and I'll throw up πŸ™‚ ohhhh, all over my keyboard...

    • Don't know, but I've got this one negative for spamming on a thread that hadn't posted on in 1 year, 3 months, and 6 days (I think. I can't get to my e-mail so I'm not sure). Also, sometimes mods warn for encouraging/supporting piracy (I don't).

It's a title I don't deserve, but Andrew seemed to think otherwise. πŸ™‚ A month or two ago, Andrew started changing a few "member" titles to phrases such as "Rommel Reincarnated" (Desert Fox) and "Raster Blaster" (Jormungand). There are many more...

It's very subjective and depends on the moderator in question, but generally it helps to give meaningful answers to newbies and remain sensible, especially in topics where everyone else is busy flaming each other.

To raise Karma, just do what David is doing right now: answer someone's questions. πŸ˜‰

I've been praised for helping board newbies (including explaining how karma works, ironically enough πŸ™‚ ), for asking thoughtful questions on Just Chat, and (once) for politely flaming an idiot who was repeatedly pestering the Coldstone board claiming to be a beta tester and begging for the password to decrypt the file. I wouldn't recommend the latter route, though; a flame is rather more likely to get you a warning than praise. πŸ™‚

Basically, if you're helpful and thoughtful, you will gain karma. If you're rude, inconsiderate, or just plain annoying, you won't. πŸ™‚

Was this a hint david? πŸ™‚

Also, I think that the best way to get karma is not to go looking for it. Just be decent and helpfull and don't stress over it. It's just a little number next to your name on the internet. It's not like it affects your day to day life at all. Look at the bigger issues.

Many of them had titles before becoming moderators. Soviet mikee's was, as he said, "linux geek," and TomWoozle's was "horse fondler."

    • "Linux Geek"?

Mikee came over to the ferazel boards once while we were having a discussion on some poll and we started talking about names and karma and subtitles. Then Mikee popped up:

No, that was someone else who had that title. I don't recall who though.

    • Karma originated as a religous belief of the hindus. They believed that ones karma was raised when one did good and was believed to be used to determine what a person would turn into after reincarnation.

    • Nope. That was Mikee:
