    • Ok, if I Am going to work on this plugin myself, someone's gonna have to give me some tips. I know what to change now, but I don't.

The way I like playing this game is the lazy way: let others build the plugins, then I play them, and if I think the builder is worthy of praise, I'll heap it on them. In this case I've already played enough to know that Bomb deserves plenty of praise, but I Am going to point out things that need working on. And if I have to fix everything, then He wont and the next release wont be as fixed as well as it could of been.

    • You're right, but I am too impatient to wait for a plug-in update and the truth is that there ARE several small bugs that make the game unplayable. So I do what I have to.

By the way, I threw out the pilot builder and I don't want to download it all again. Can someone tell me what mission bits are set when it's completed so I can make one myself?

That's what making good plugs is all about.

Glenn, you really ought to check your facts before you make these kinds of statements. Just because I haven't posted here announcing every bug and fix and emailing it personally to everyone here doesn't mean I'm not maintaining it. In fact, it is the exact opposite. I've done nothing but maintain the files. There are currently patches online. A big one with all of the above mentioned bugs sits on Ambrosia's site waiting for approval, and I've even gone through on a case by case basis and fixed people's pilots and sent them patches. So please, don't lecture me about making a good plug-in and then maintaining it because I guarantee that I've been working my ass off to get this thing good and fixed. And it's certainly not helping the cause to be backstabbed by my fellow developers, either.

I don't know why it's not on ASW, but you can all get the fixed files at:

    • CAN SOMEONE TEll ME HOW TO EVEN START THE GAME? I GOT THE PIOLOT BUILDER TO WORK BUT NOW WHERE DO I GO?? AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

      ------------------

    • Well, after some farting around, I finally worked out how the Pilot editor works!
Im now flying around 'normal' EVO space, just re-earning my 10mill credits and getting my 'fighting status'(cant remember the exact terminology) up. My question is...Just how much of normal EVO do we have to play in order for the F-25 stuff to start? Id like to be able to get the marines etc from the UE missions (as I need big crew numbers to collect the escorts I like to have!), but since the voinians are no more...how do I do this? I did try to follow the voinian thread for a little while, but eventually EVO crashed on me, so I have stopped that for now. How do we get all the stuff we would have normally had access to, had the voinians not disappeared?
It would appear that some sort of introductory Read Me file is in order, as it is not at all clear how either the Pilot builder functions and how the player should progress thru EVO to the start of the Plug-in missions.
Anyway, regards so far on having done all the work that made the plug exist.

Hmm, I have got a read-me file with my download. While I had some problems with the pilot builder (essentially, have no other plugs in the plug-in folder, even, or in my case 🙂 especially, F-25 ones, start new pilot, land on Earth, go to bar, take missions etc. Remove pilot builder, add F-25 plugs, go to Priat, bar, begin). All the other problems you refer to are referred to in the read-me. Don't do EVO's missions (they screw up the plug) and don't go into Voinian space because it's not really there anymore.

      ------------------

    • Alan, does your new Pilot Builder-built pilot file 🙂 also include "access to several UE vessels for exploration" as mentioned in the Read-Me? Or do they come later in the plug-in?

Also, does your Read-Me tell you to go to the Priat Bar to start the plug-in? Mine (F-25v2.0ReadMe, modified 4/23/01 9:21pm) doesn't seem to include that info. Or, does the very first mission you take at Earth tell you to go there?

    • BURNNNNNNN!!!!!!!

      Spindly?? What's a Spindly??

    • Bomb, it was not my intent to "backstab" you. And I'm sorry if I was unclear enough that you interpreted it that way.

I read cheese's post as basically saying "don't bother Bomb about bugs, just use ResEdit to fix 'em yourself." Which I still maintain is a stupid assertion. Expecting the average player to 1) be able to find a bug using ResEdit and 2) know how to fix it is ludicrous. And certainly, I would want to know if a bug was found in my work so that I could fix it ASAP, and I assume that you would too. (I know that you were quick enough to fix the bugs found in the first version of ROTV, and I know no reason why you would have changed.) Thus, I disagreed with cheese's statement.

That said, I am surprised at how many bugs have cropped up in F-25 so quickly. I do hope that you continue to put out patches as quickly as possible, because IMO, early bugs are a quick way to get a plug a bad name which it may never recover from. Your work doesn't deserve that.

      Peace?

No but who needs them? 10000000 creds suits me just fine.

The Priat bar is just where it all begins (began). I didn't see it as a spoiler.

    • Mr. Bomb! Mr. Bomb! Alien here for Loyal Players! It seems the disabled scout isn't appearing even with the fixer patches!! What is your answer to this?

      Sorry, couldn't resist..

    • If I had a fast conection I would download all the patches and everything. But I am on AOL, and everything takes a good half-hour to download. So I just don't. And I feel bad for bomb because of all the little fixes he has to do constantly. And I guess I am just naturally a do-it yourselfer. So if you have the computer and conection to download patches for all the bugs, that's nice.

It isn't? It should be... Actually, the URL was slightly wrong. Sorry about that.

Don't feel bad.. I've actually only done three or four complete patches and the rest were either typos or individual problems I helped people through.

    • Hi folks, I've been stuck on the "Locate unknown vessel" mission a few real days now, where you're supposed to find a Xarnez Predator and disable it. I've landed at Mira, then loaded the pilot each time before going to each of the adjacent systemsŃTufel, Mezt, Zimla, Nemnel, and Leita. I've also flown through those systems all at once, and through their neighboring systems too. At every system I wait a little while, and then tab through all the ships in the system. I've never seen it. Am I missing anything obvious? Are there any other tips or hints anyone can give me? I'm ready for a spoilerŃI've spent enough time on this one mission already, and I just want to move ahead in the story line.

      Thanks.

    • It's south of the Saffara or whatever system in Zidigar space. It's an uninhabited system.
