    • heres some thoughts: anyone remember EV 1.0.0? you could destroy asteoids!! I WANNA DESTROY ASTEROIDS AGAIN!!! that was so fun, i used to do that while i waited for my ramscoop to refuel me.

also, get rid of this sh*tty dumb thing where your escorts "tractor" onto your ship and follow you no matter which direction you're facing. i mean, since when could a UE freighter travel backwards at the same speed as my voinian frigate with afterburner? impossible, unless you implimented a reverse/sideways thruester option.

on top of that i'd like to be able to capture weapons that i dont have launchers for. i liked selling turreted rockets to paaren station after capturing a load from a voinian cruiser...as mentioned earlier, allow for non ammo stuff to be stolen, such as missile launchers and shield capacators (sp?)

finally, someone said they wanted a 3d map. i say we have a map that you can travel anywhere on, so that when you enter hyperspace, the screen zooms waaay out, and you can plot your course like with ares, except zoomed out even more, and better graphics.

    • Sorry, one more idea:

      5. Just for a little graphics fun, how about starlines when warp up to hyperspace speed, like Ares, and a flash to enter the next system?

    • I think a great feature in EV3 would be the ability to outfit your escorts. There could be a pulldown menu in the outfit window that allows you to select which ship to outfit.

You could have a completely personalized fleet if you used my other idea of choosing ship colours. Just think, a jet black voinion fleet of a Voinion Dreadnaught, with two cruisers and four frigates cruising through UE space, it would put the willies up anyone.

I didn't mean to do that.

    • In EV3 (or EV4 if one ever exhists, as this is very ambitious) when you land on a planet it would be cool to have a Harry-style top scroller, so you can actually GO to the mission computer, or spaceport bar. Maybe you could pick up hints for a mission at the bar. This would be more than eye candy, however, because it would allow you to be pursued by enemies, and maybe even pursue enemies yourself. The great part is that Ambrosia would (perhaps) have a semi-working engine for this with Harry the Handsome Executive. Unfortunately, the disk space for storing all the maps, along with the extra space you would need to have a Harry-like engine would make the game almost undownloadable... but a fellow can dream can't he? πŸ™‚

    • I've got a few suggestions dealing with tranparencies(sp?).

      1. I think sombody already said this, but I'd like for your shields to light up when you get hit by a weapon like on Star Trek: Generations (the movie) where the Enterprise shoots at the Klingon Bird of Prey.

      2. When your shields go down, it would be cool for weapons to leave big black spots when they hit you and start blowing chunks off your ship after lots of abuse.

      3. When your ship (or any ship, for that matter) explodes it needs to split into several pieces and have each individual piece blow up after a while.

      4. What if all the systems in the game were connected in a big map. What I mean is, you could just start flying in the direction of a system but unlike EV, where you hit an invisible wall after a while, you could fly into another system. It would take muuuuuch longer than a hyperjump, but it would be really helpful if you were just starting the game and you were low on fuel and didn't have a enough money to buy a ramscoop. Also, if you were battling an Alien Cruiser or something that takes a long time to kill, you would have room to keep fighting.

      Just ideas,
      Mike

    • I don't like the idea of walking around the spaceport. I like it just the way it is. The 'Harry' thing sounds cool, but I don't think it will happen. Plus that would make them have to show your pilot, and not everybody (or their pilot) looks the same. They would need to have other people in the spaceport to make it look real, too.

A multi-vector assault mode would be cool. There are multiple turrets on the ship, and multiple enemies attacking you. If one turret went to one fighter and another turret to another fighter, they would be more useful.

I think more detail in the story would be cool. I always wondered what the aliens looked like, but the game leaves it up to the imagination.

I wonder if anyone from Ambrosia is reading any of these posts...

    • i have three suggestions:

i would like to have a choice of a crappy ship from each race when i first start out, and be able to pick my race.

i would also like to be able to buy (one i get enough money) a laser that would take up all of my gun/turret slots and cost 20 million dollars but allow you to destroy (after two/three days of recharging) a planet, sorta of like in the gunboat missions where you destroy "The Rock".

thirdly, i would like to have a rival, some one else that is also a pilot and is trying to move up the food (ship) chain faster than me, and it'd be cool to able to get an igazra replace its turrets with neutron turrets then capture another igazra and make your ship an escort (a very powerful escort), or can you alredy do that?

      ------------------

    • The rival concept (Γ‘ la pokΓ©mon) is verrrry nice. (like in Ares)
While total multiplayability is impossible, perhaps TCP/IP 2-player games would work (they do in Ares)
Also, the star field in EV is sooo boring. I want a starfield with depth (like in Ares)
Also, Kinetic vector beams would be nice (like in Ares)
And exploding debris (like in Ares)
And Sparks flying off your ships when they are hit (like in Ares)
Also, using EVA troopers to capture stations (not planets) would be nice (like in Ares)
And destroyable asteroids that do damage when you collide with them (like in Ares)
And ships should not just fly through each other, the should bump into each other (like in Ares)
And, of course, make it expandable (like in, um, Ares)

    • To the latter post, in the last sentence if you are talking about plugins etc, then you are mistaken my friend. Ares is a good game, but so far the only editor is Hera, and that is way too buggy for anything yet. EV/O has so many more plugins than Ares(check the add-on files), and it also is much easier to create plugins with a copy of Resorcerer(my fav) or ResEdit, or EV-Edit(too buggy for me).

      thats my idea too πŸ™‚

    • ok, heres how it works: forget moving around in spaceports, you might aswell just make the game into a harry style game, and scrap the EV part πŸ™‚ armour CANT REGENERATE FOR CHRISTS SAKE!! this feature has puzzled me throughout my EV career...how does armour regenerate? have more beam weapons. have a deathstar type ship. allow for boarding of stations. make it multiplayer, this cannot be hard. let me explain: ambrosia buys a g4 with adsl. it loads the server software. it only has 1 port, one channel, 1 server. it allows for up to 500 people on at a time. because (if you take my above post seriously) you only have 1 sΛ™st resource, you dont need multiple ports/channels for each system. everyone would begin a new multiplayer pilot in a random inhabited system. all multiplayer pilots would be strict play. players would be able to give other players a mission. ect ect. if people wanted, they could host their own server and have an arena style battle. ect ect ect. 3d starfield is kinda cheesy, but i really dont care. cotton moose has some good ideas.

i think im done. maybe i ought to learn C++ and join the EV3 team, but im probably too young to get a job like that anyway πŸ™‚

      ------------------

    • Im new here, but i think that when you r outfitting your ship you should be able
to c a view your ship from the top and place turrets along it, ( put some at front, middle and back) eg blaze turrets at the front, phase turrets at the middle, and nutrons at the back.

I think that would look cool πŸ†’

ps i want to registered EVO but i havent yet because my computer keeps crashing and it says it has something to do with the registeration program. when i register will it still crash the computer. πŸ˜•

If you use the plug-in Femme Fatale, Martin Turner has created asteroid swarms that you can destroy but that also have a collision weapon.

Maybe it has little regenerator bots that use any dmaged armor and debri to rebuild the structural integrity...

When you say it cannot be hard, do you mean for the person to buy it, or what?... πŸ˜›

    • If anyone has ever played the game Road Rash, you get some cash and you can choose any bike that you can afford. This would be cooler than getting stuck with the human shuttle.

A first name and last name should be entered seperately, because it always bothered me that the characters would use a full name all the time.

I'm still asking for the multi-vector assault mode. Does anyone else think that would be a good idea ?

    • What exactly do you mean, multi-vector assault mode?

Anyway, for EV3, the thing I would like most is a lot more ships. I mean a lot. Over 50, more than EV and EVO combined. This would make for good variety, and spice up the game a little bit and make it more realistic. This would also include different companies with prices based on distinguished reputations (i.e. like cars, Mercedes are priced higher than Fords, and there is a quality difference as well).

Also, planets should hav emor ethan one spaceport. It could get a little confusing, but there could be a menu where you select where you want to land on a planet.

There was a game I used to play for the DOS platform called First Encounters... it was a little-known game that I absolutely loved. It was much like EVO, except everything was to scale, graphics were 3D, and planets, like I have mentioned I would like in EV3, had more than one spaceport. You would have to land at places by yourself (pretty cool) and get authoriztion to lift off. There were places to go to inside the spaceport, like in the bar several people would always come up to you and offer you various missions. If you took off without asking authorization, you were fined and police would come after you. You could bribe police away or lead them into an unknown sector in space and kill them off. Sometimes the game was too realistic though; crashing into spaceports was kind of annoying.

Ahem, sorry for that rant... just wishing I still had that game.

    • Armor CAN regenerate. Who says metal can re'bond' itself? Take some metal, scratch the hell out of it, cut it into a hundred pieces. When you melt it, it will go back to a clean solid form. Ever hear about the debris found at Roswell? They say that it would repair itself and bounce back to a straight forum.

Some polymers are self-regenerating. In the future streets will use polymers instead of concrete. Thus, whenever there is a crack or hole, the 'capiliaries' in the street will fill it in with new polymers. So =p
