    • Type 2 errors on launch

      Hello!

I've finally managed to DL the full game via FTP (actually accomplished this last week), I finally found a credit card with enough credit left to purchase (yay!), but now I cannot successfully launch the game. Usually, I get the Ambrosia Screen, The Beenox screen, then the starting splash. I get the progress bars as various things load, then. . .type 2 errors. . .the freaking dialogue box is screwed up, too. It says that PoG has unexpectedly quit. Well, by now I've come to expect it! 😃

mac G4, OS 9.1, 1.5 G RAM, oodles of HD space.

Also, since registering, the demo version I had downloaded before (that convicned me to buy) does the same thing. If I double click on a saved game, I get as far as the screen with my character appearing, but type 2 error as soon as that appears.

Please help me! I'd really like to play this game before xmas! Thanks in advance.

    • I'm getting a type 3 error. Please help me Ambrosia!

    • 2 things to try:

1st increase your memory. I suggest alloting POG about 100megs or more. This helps
      a lot.

2nd locate and delete a file on your hard drive called "emitgop" which is a preference
file for POG. I've read of people having strange problems with crashes after upgrading
from the demo, and the problems being solved by deleting that file. It is worth a try.

      Good Luck!

      ------------------
Shoot 'em with everything you've got. If anything still lives, shoot 'em again.

    • Tried to locate "emitgop" on my HD. Also tried variations of that. No luck finding this. Deleted the file named Pillars of Garendal Prefs and it still crashed w/ type 2 error.

Inceased Memory Allocation by 100 MB (hell, I've got 1.5 GB). Still crashes.

      ------------------

    • Have you updated to v1.1? That is a whole new executable and is about a 15meg download(so
no 150 meg downloads again! Woo!).

I know they addressed quite a few bugs, some of which I believe caused crashes. If you
are still running the normal v1.0 version, it is a worth a shot to upgrade.

And you searched your entire drive for emitgop (pogtime spelled backwards) and couldn't
      find it? Bummer. Sorry.

    • We are trying to reproduce the crash here, but there are a few other bits of information we need from you...

      1. Open the Extensions Folder and find what version of CarbonLib you have installed.
      2. Open the Preferences Folder, drag out the "Garendall License" file, then see if the crash persists.
      3. Install Macsbug and perform a "stdlog" after you crash, then mail us the logfile.

Please try (1) and (2), but (3), while most helpful, also requires a fair bit of computer savvy as well. Of course, the more information you can give us, the faster we can resolve this problem.

    • Hi!

      1. Carbon Lib is 1.4

      2. Removed Garendal Register from prefs. Game did not crash. Reregistered. Crashed again. I think this is what they call a clue! Something wrong with the reg app?

      3)I'll contact David re:macsbug

thanks for the help so far, everyone.

Also, which update will give me PoG 1.1? I thought I had the latest, which was 1.0.1. Did stark skip a zero accidentally?
