    • Is Demanding Tribute Impossible?

Can someone spare a clue? I've tried to 'Demand Tribute' a few times on a couple of different Voinian and Renegade worlds. Each time I've wiped out more ships than I can count and eventually give up due to boredom (or my fingers get too tired). Am I missing something or do you really have to wipe out 200+ ships to dominate a world?

      ------------------

    • You have to wipe out loads. Some Voinian and pirate worlds, however, don't let you get tribute from them ever.

In keeping with the middle ages theme of today's Blue Peter, we'll be learning how to make our own Iron Maiden.
You will need: Some Thick Cardboard
      Some Kebab Skewers and
      A bicyle chain.

    • If you demand tribute from backwater worlds the defense fleets tend to be smaller. In fact, there's a Voinian system (I think it's Voinian) that has little more than some paltry fighters, interceptors, and civilian ships.

      "You are?"
"Well, either that, or you're wearing a large trout on your head."

    • the voinian system to the west of their space (it satarts with DSN) only has human shuttles freighters and cargo ships.

    • that planet was quite fun, i must say.

    • Another good target is Sumer, reputed to send out only one (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard1.html#helian")helian(/url) or something It just depends on what you try to capture. If you go for some large, well-protected world, it's natural that they'll send a huge defense fleet at you. Go for the smaller targets, like the small Independent and Strandless worlds. And make sure you have a ship and the skills to kill a (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard3.html#cresw")Crescent Warship(/url), as many bounty hunters in these ships will be coming after you as soon as you capture a world. 🙂

    • If you're after cash and don't mind making the Miranu just a little bit mad, try taking over Priat. They send less than 100 to more than 20 Crescent Fighters, and you get several thousand sweet credits a day. However, stay away from the human independent planet with those monks. It took me several hours to kill way too many kraits+helians. And for what?... a thousand credits/day.

"Arthur Philip Dent?" pursued the alien in a kind of efficient yap.
      "Er...er...yes...er...er...," confirmed Arthur.
"Your're a jerk," repeated the alien, "a complete kneebiter."

    • bribe the landing control at freeport, land and hire six krait escorts (serious!). jump to mavs (two jumps down), each time telling your kraits to hold position. when in mavs, disable as many renegade aradas/laziras/c. warships as necessary until no new ships jump in (i think you need 5).

now, tell your escorts to return to formation, go to the system boundary, and demand tribute. your kraits should kill almost all of the c. fighters and aradas that come out. don't forget to speed up the game as much as possible (caps lock, 225% speed). don't leave the room--there may be a stray defender who gets through.

    • Or do the same with Crescent Fighters......... <smiles>

And you don't mean Defender, I think. You mean Krait?

no, no. this isn't ev classic. what do you call someone who belongs to a defense fleet? i'm talking about mavs anyway, not a human renegade system.
