The Battle of Mira raged like no one had ever seen. Not in centuries had combat been seen outside of the orbit of beautiful Mirava. Now, in this fierce exchange between these very different, those captive on the planet below were stunned by the sight of combat, a concept shocking the peace-inclined culture that they were.
The Voinian force was substantial, much more than there had been at North Tip Station. Cruisers and Frigates were everywhere, as were the fighter complements. It was, by all accounts, a formidible force.
But, the Zacha now knew the nature of their enemy. The element of the surprise belonged to them now, not their enemy. They had the full weight of a united Crescent fleet behind them. Most importantly, they knew they were being led by someone who knew how to defeat them on the battlefield.
Crusader was emotionless, his determination rock-solidy set as he gave orders. They may rule the field in close-range combat, but they can't strike us in a long-range battle. "Fighters and Aradas, fire pursuit missile barrage now. Gunship fleet, go!"
The Voinian fleet closed toward their enemy, but too late. They were too slow, the enemy too efficient. A hail of missiles and SAD modules soared through the Mira system like a cloud of death, so dense that it was all that you could see....before the end. The modules decimated their weak shields; the missiles finishing the job against the armor, like mighty arrows being launched against an armor that, while holding for a time, would eventually fall and give way. Giving way is exactly what the dense Voinian hulls did, as a third of the fleet was decimated with but a couple volleys from the massive Zacha forces. What the Zachit didn't kill, the Crescent forces did.
But they wouldn't die lying down. Crusader, along with most others, caught the sign of secondaries being launched....
"Here come the rockets people, lets do it just like we talked about!"
Slowly the rockets came upon the Zacha's location....until, that is, they moved from it. The hundreds of Zacha fighters and aradas darted out of the way instantly long before they arrived, with most of the Gunships able to follow suit. Some rockets missed while others collided; but there was minimal damage to the fleet.
"Now, blitz them!" Crusader commanded. With that he moved in with his CW, with ESPilot, Thunder, and the Gunships not far behind. Another volley launched by Crescent/Zacha forces, more Voinain warships destroyed. Finally, with the numbers now heavily in their favor, the Zacha took the fight to their enemy with the intent of finishing it. The superior but few neutron turrets of the capital ships feel to the huge cloud of phase fire; the slow but powerful Voinian fightercraft proved no match for the pesky Zacha fighters, who made sport of them. Circles they made around and around them while using periodic phase fire, until finally deciding to end their play by emptying their missile reserves.
"Our work isn't gone, guys. There's still the matter of liberating Mira," ESPilot said.
"Yeah, that's gonna be a problem." Thunder commented.
"Don't worry," the head of the Crescent fleet said. "We've got it covered." As he said this over 20 Freighters entered the system. "Each one of those ships are packed with elite troops. Mirava will be taken back in no time. We've also taken back Zanat, and the Voinains are already appealing to the Miranu for peace terms."
"They WOULD." Crusader breathed.
But it doesn't matter whether I like it. What matters is what the people I work for think.
Within a couple days, Miranu space was totally secure. And the Miranu Elders called for a meeting with Crusader and his comrades ..
"ESPilot, Thunder, care to accompany me and see what decision the elders have come to?"
OOC note: Sorry if this seems a tad short (maybe it doesn't), but I wanted to get this done so people wouldn't have to wait any longer.
