This just isn't my strong point.
After recently beating EVO again, this time with the Reign of the UE plug, i decided to record my ships names. Here is the list in order of purchase or capture:
Adventurer : Shuttlecraft - default.
Lightyear : Scoutship - taken from toy story. i just loved it. its real spacey.
Hell's Fury : Arada - fast as hell, in speed and firing. very good at maneuvering.
Starlight Intruder : Lazira - taken from a Star Wars novel, good name, also spacey.
Excelsior : UE Carrier - "ever upward" - the top ship and yet only the gateway to another...
Titan U.E. : Voinian Cruiser - taken from Titan A.E. With an EVO twist. Titan because its the most powerful ship known to anyone.
Incisor : UE Cruiser - Incisor, meaning the cutting tooth at the front of the mouth. Consider the mouth the U.E. Navy, and my ship the cutting tooth, the piercing edge.
And buy this. i downgraded in force to my ship of choice because i know that it will proove better in the long run...
Vengeance : Miranu Gunship - Vengeance, the act of revenge. My ship is unstoppable and i will stop at nothing to get back at the voinians and the other strands! fear me!
Armageddon : UE Dreadnought - Well armageddon is the end of the world, and i have the biggest and most powerful ship in existance. this sucker takes out voinian cruisers like a voinian cruiser takes out laziras!!!

I call all my ships the same thing, even in the original EV my ship is always called "Rebellion's Demise".

I know it's weird but I've had a shuttle called the Pathetic Shuttle, a cargo transporter called the Crappy Transporter, and my favorite, The Lazirian Falcon.
I was trying to decide on a name one day when I came up with "Galinia", and its been my ships names ever since. I doubt it means anything (if it does I probably look like an idiot).

I like to call my ships with the first letter of the govt I'm working for and SS, eg.
U.E.S. Galaxy (UE cruiser)
Z.S.S. Halogen (Zidara)
U.S.S. War Memorial (UE Dreadnought after the Battle of Voina, plug in ROTUE)
Once I named my shuttle as U.E.S. Drednought :rolleyes:

I never baptize a ship with the same name of another one of old.
As far as i can remember i named them with great sci-fi authors like Asimov, Anderson, **** and so on. But there were also other names as "Barbarella", Nixen (it means Mermaid), and so on.
As a suggestion: never use the same name two times: it brings you bad luck! 
It's far better to use a name and add some numerals (as instance: i can remember that someone used Warrior and then added I, II, III, IV...)
