      Greetings!

I am an old EV enthusiast, and I recently came across the upcoming EV Nova. I used to be a ship modeller and worked on a few plugins (The best of which, The Visitor, which went AWOL) and I was thinking that EVN would be a fantastic challenge to create a worthwhile plug in for. So anyways let me get to the point.

I would like to coordinate a great plugin in for EVN when it is finally released. I know that is will be a long while till that happens, but I thought it would be in the best intrest to start collecting the best of the modellers, artists and developers to create a fantastic plugin. I know that we really can't start on such a plugin until EVN is released, but I thought that perhaps before then we could get together and make a new SUPERB plugin for EVO to enhance our abilities for the final project.

Now, if you would like to apply to help with the initial EVO plugin, send me and email that informs me of your past plugin experiance. If you worked with Resedit tell me where to find a copy of your plugin. If you are an artist (3D or otherwise) tell me where I can see your latest work.

I hope that we can come together to impress the current EV populace, and those yet to come.

P.S. For you 3-D artists, the below ship is an example of the minimal talent I would like you to have if you want to join the graphical side of the plugin.

    • Normally, I would love to help you out, but I've got my hands full heading up the development of "The Dreden War." Sorry...And by the way, I really like the last ship in your shipyard. It reminds me of the Rebel Cruiser...

    • It's relatively easy to make ships that look cute in a 320x240 graphic with thousands of colours... If you want people to really show what they can do, you might do better to ask to see a completed EV:O spin for a medium-sized (32x32 ?) ship.

I find that a lot of folks do too many twiddly little bits which you'll never see in-game. Things might change under Nova, but an EV:O plug will always be subject to palette and resolution limitations.

I got this .sig file at insanely_great.com - don't even think about taunting me!

    • I'd like to have done it to. But, like Cap'n Skyblade I have to do the "Dreden War"

Oh, and just start by making the graphics/missions desc/all writing so that once Nova comes out you can quickly turn it into a plug (in fact that's what I'm doing with a side project of mine called "Vive Le Revolution!").

Hey Diddly, you don't have to work on the Dreden War, it's your own choice. You are free to leave the team at any time, though you are very valuable. 🙂

I believe that Nova supports more colors, and if you look at what some of the avaible shipyard pict options are going to be, you'd want to have some very nice 320x240 graphics.

Actually I love doing it, it's just I was making the point that I have commitments.

Oh and I ought to have 0.2d up by tommorrow, I've just been having trouble finding a webspace, sorry for the delay.

Alright, I understand your point. Just don't ever feel like you have to stick with the Corsairs, though we need you. 🙂

Version 0.2d? Excellent...Carno will be glad to hear that, since he has been awaiting that release for quite some time. Also, if you are having trouble finding web space, just give me a holler! I'm open to hosting anything ranging from images to download files. 🙂

Correct, but Screamincheesz seeks to create an EV:O plug first. I have nothing against attractive rendered artwork. I merely seek to point out that a team artist who spends time modelling twiddly bits which will never be seen on the finished sprites is contributing less to the project than he or she might otherwise do. A good EV:O artist must learn to make their ships and munitions bold, simple, attractive and easily differentiated at game speed.

    • I can do topdown pictures any way you like, although I don't have any experience,
I think I'm the first person the volunteer, aren't I?

Holler! Should I email them to you, or what? And could I announce it? Not on the log, that's Carnos job, but on the other forums?

Announce it at our EzBoard on all the forums, but you needn't announce the release here, as only the Corsairs are permitted to download version 0.2b...

    • I'm out of my league posting here, but...

The Corsair people seem to be hovering around this topic, and i don't know how well known they are (i personally have high respect for Corsair, but i know of them only from Carno), but why wouldn't you want to join their group instead of forming one with the same basic idea upon it? If i wasn't waiting to devote my time to a Coldstone RPG, that's what i would do instead of joining a startup. I bet they could tell you horrible stories of what they had to go through to get as organized as they are now :). Just something to think about...
