OH! Ok...Sorry about that.:D. By the way, my new ship is an Arada called the El Diablo's Fury. Cool name isn't it? I'm sorry, but I'm still outta stories. I'm trying to find some interesting battles up in the north tip, and I think I will since I've been asked to raid Outpost Zachit as part of the north tip renegade misison string. I'll have the story about it by tomorrow! Till then, I'll probly be outta stories.

    • Alright, I'll share another one. πŸ™‚ Please note this is a story from Escape Velocity.

I was proud to own my brand-new Kestral, bought straight out of the good 'ol renegade planets north of Spica. I liked me lighting fighters, and all the extra firepower I had added to my ship. I carried three proton turrets, two torpedo tubes with fifty torpedos, and lots and lots of javelin rockets along with a few missiles. As was my reputation ever since I started playing EV, I was the "most wanted" of the Confederation, and a loyal follower of the Rebellion. Since I currently couldn't find a mission with the Rebels, I decided to head for Sol and have some fun. On the way there, I was attacked by a few patrol ships here and there, nothing much. But when I arrived at Sol, it was a different story. Two Confederation Cruisers, one frigate, and two gunboats inhabited the space outside Earth and Outpost Alpha. As first, I was thinking what most pilots would under such a force: "RUN!!!" As I was about to hit the jump button, and I decided that I would give these ships a try. As the Cruisers launched their patrol ships, the gunships were heading my way. I was out of range of the frigate's missiles, so they didn't hurt me. And for some reason, the Cruisers didn't fire their torpedoes like they normally did, to my surprise and relief. The gunboats were on my moniter-viewing area, and I launched my lightings. I immediately ordered them to take out one of them, while I went for the other. My fighters obeyed well, in which they fired a deadly array of heavy rockets, javelins, and energy weapons at the poorly-protected Junkboats. It then went off in flames, and I ordered my fighters back to my ship for repair. The other Junkboat fired a heavy rocket at the rear of my ship, and I answered with anger. My three proton turrets quickly dealt with him, and my shields, now around 80%, recharged and I headed for the frigate who was far ahead of the cruisers. Since my shields were in good order, I decided to charge him straight-forward on my first and maybe second run. As I headed for him at top speed, I was able to release around 10 torpedoes before we were in turret range. His shields were depleted to somewhere around 30/40%, and I switched to my javelins. I fired them as quickly as they would allow, at the same time firing my protons at the Confederation Bozo. As I passed him, I received a heavy rocket and proton fire, knocking my shields to about 70%. But I was in better shape then he was. I came around for a second pass, this time releasing my fighters. As I charged him again, I ordered my fighters at him also. Fortunately, I was able to receive most of the fire while my fighters shot up the back of the frigate. I took two more heavy rockets and proton fire, and both my fighters were around 80% shields. I then watched gladly as the frigate lurched to a slow pace and burst into flames. Hah! Uh-Oh...I forgot about all those patrol ships that were headed my way...=O About eight or so patrol ships showed up on my radar screen, and since they were faster then me, I began to run and attempt the Monty Python. While my fighters entered my ship, the first patrol ship came on my moniter-viewing area, and as soon as he was in range of my protons, I gave it to him. The first two patrol vessels were simple to take out, but the next four were bunched together, making them hard to destroy. I was only able to knock out one while the other three patrol ships fired their protons. (They were now out of missiles, which had fallen short of me previously) My shields began to drop as I turned to fire off some javelins. About 20 seconds later, I finally took the trio down, but my shields took a beating. 40%. The other two patrol ships came my way, and since there were only two or so (I can't remember if there were only two left...I think there were) remaining, I let my fighters deal with them. The patrol ships were easy meat for my lightings, and they were quickly destroyed. As I recalled the fighters, I then began to make the long journey back toward Earth to fight the Cruisers. By the time both the ships were on my radar, my shields were fully funtional, and in good shape. I circled around the first Cruiser, far enough away to stay off my moniter-viewing area. I fired all forty torpedoes I had left, bringing his shields down to around 35%. Since I had a few missiles, (10, I believe) I fired them as well, and the Cruiser was then left with about 25% shields. I then made a swift strike at the backside of his ship, firing away with javelins and protons. The Cruisers proton turrets were hurting me, but I was hurting him, too. After my first pass, he was at 10% shields, and I was at 60%. I made my second pass, doing my best to stay behind him and avoid most of his turret fire. Finally, he was on his armor, and the Cruiser and I had a dull to the death. By the time I disabled the blasted Weirdo, the other cruiser was on my screen. As I flew away from him, I released my fighters to destroy the disabled cruiser, then recalled them. My shields, which were close to armor after fighting the Cruiser, were slowly recharging, so I decided to wait out the time and wait till I had full power. While I was waiting, my red alert siren went off, and a patrol ship headed for me. Once again, I was able to avoid his missiles, and I took him out without any damage using turret fire. By the time my shields were up to full, me, my 150 or so javelins, my lightings, and the cruisers were left. I headed for the cruiser, and gave him all I had. After the first pass, his shields were around 80%, while mine drifted down to around 70%. I made a second pass, this time circling him and being able to avoid some of his turret fire. I then flew away, aware of the damage I was taking from the Cruiser. I released the Lightings, and my ill-fated escorts made their way toward the Confederation moster. I waited a moment and watched. The Cruiser was knocked down to 50% shields, much thanks to the heavy rockets. As I ordered them back, one of my lightings was destroyed by heavy proton fire. The other was badly damaged, but managed to make it back to my ship. I then made my way once again toward the beast, and fired my remaining javelins and proton turrets. I brought him down to around 30% shields, while I was around 40. I released my remaining lighting, and sent him towards the Cruiser. Of course, he was destroyed, but he did his job. The cruiser, was down to 15% shielding, and I was about half normal status. I made my next run, hoping to finish him off. We both shot at each other like angry bees, trying to bring the other down. Finally, I disabled the Cruiser, and my duraplex armor saved my life. I then destroyed the Cruiser, extremely relieved to know I had pulled this attack off. I headed away from the blast of the Cruiser, and made my way toward my Rebellion friends. Boy, was I happy, even if I had lost my highly-valued lightings. Anyway, this was one of my favorite stories on Escape Velocity. Hope you liked it!

    • Nice. Kestrels are pretty cool, but I likes me Reb Cruiser a lot better, with the Mantas and lotsa proton turrets. Hmm...What was the Kestrel's name I wonder? You must've had a lot of money to buy the Kestrel, which I think are either 7 or 10 million credits or somewhere in between. BTW, have you tried the 'Galactic Scourge' plugin for EV? I have it and it kicks ass, adding some cool new ships (like the new Confed Battleship), and cool new weapons (like the Death Ray). And I'm STILL out of stories, but I think I should get one today.

    • Wow Skyblade! That is amazing skill! I never did anything like that in EV, as I went plug-in happy, and pretty much ruined the game, what with all the cheats and stuff. Oh well.

ESPilot - The easiest way to get a Kestrel, is just go into the Serpens Nebula (i think thats what it was called) and spend a day in there, destroying tons of pirates. I personally, didn't like the Kestrel too much, I went for the Rapier. I guess the Arada takes the Rapier's place in EVO.

    • Nice story, Captain Skyblade. It has been awhile since I played Escape Velocity. I've got another story, by the way, just happened today in my old "Hunter" Pilot File. Hope you like it!

I was flying along in my modified Zidara, the (i)Z.S.S. Beam(i), when I decided to take a foray into Igadzra space to kick some butt. I entered the Mark system, and saw a couple of hostile Igadzra Aradas and an Igzara. They begin launching SAE's like crazy, but since I had a Zidagar ECM jammer, that didn't do much. I steered away, preparing for a tricky Monty Python. The Aradas came at me close together, forming a small bull's-eye for my Dispy Rockets. I knocked them back with two rockets, then charged and fired my two Phase Turrets at one of them, taking him out. The other blasted me in the side, so I spun around and nailed him with a burst of Phased Beaming. Then, I flipped through my radar screen, and found to my horror, that there were not one, not two, not three, but FOUR IGZARAS IN THE SYSTEM!! Overcoming my initial panic, I resolved to fight until I dropped too low for comfort, and then retreat. The first Igzara steered toward me, looking menacing, and I tried to match its speed. I shot it with my turrets, and was doing fine 'til I recklessly launched off a rocket. The minute it connected, the Igzara's turrets erupted with fire and pummeled the poor little hull of the Z.S.S. Beam well down into its shields before I got away. It seemed to shout, "Wagh! I have five turrets. Come and get me, little purple fool!" I slowly eased back into the Monty Python, firing Phase Turrets, knowing that one bad move could mean the end. Eventually, it disabled, and instead of boarding it, I ruthlessly destroyed it. An igadzra Arada was coming at my side, so I launched my Fighters and went in, turrets blazing. Once the Arada was toast, I recalled my Fighters and prepared to take on the warships. I was back in my shields by now, and feeling good, so I slid into my Python, hoping that I would live to tell the story. This Igzara went like a breeze, and he was toasted with a minimum of trouble. The next two Iggies were grouped together, and I decided I'd have to be extra careful. Just then, another Igzara warped in. Grooaaaann. I was firing turrets at the two grouped Iggies, and doing well, when my hand slipped and I hit the turn button. My ship veered directly into the other Igzara, and only a lightning fast thrust forward (past the bad guy) saved me. I'd had quite enough of a thrill, and was ready to go, when the two grouped Igzaras cut off my escape. I launched my Fighters and attacked, circling, firing my Beamers and turrets, when I ran out of fuel for Phased Beams. I switched to D. rockets, and continued circling. Both my Fighters were toast and I was in my Armor when one of the Igs disabled, and I focused on the other. It disabled quite soon as well. I boarded one, stole his fuel, boarded the other, stole his credits, took them out, and left the system. And that's it. Not as good a stroy as some of them, but pretty cool, no?

    • WOW, another amazing story! So you took out a total of what, 5 Igazras and 6 Aradas on one run? Thats pretty amazing. Because the Phased Turrets have a longer range than the Swivel Phase Cannon, I have a little trouble with keeping my shields in the "comfort" zone when fighting an igazra.

BTW, Samurai, how's that plug-in coming along? The one where you were going to make a new Renegade Station, and add in a bunch of new outfits that could only be bought at the station. I'm eager to get that plug-in! πŸ™‚ How's it coming along?

    • Not that many, Stud, but quite a few. Let's see... 2 Aradas, 1 Igzara, 1 Igzara, 1 Arada, 2 Igzaras. 3 Aradas and 4 Igzaras total. I lost both my Fighters, though... had to buy 'em back. Ah well, it was worth it.

Oh, the plug-in? Yeah, it's coming along very well. I was waiting for a PICT from VoinianAmbassador, but now I've kinda given up on him and am getting back into ResEdit for some serious plug-making. There might be a beta version out soon, or it might be a little longer. It depends on how this next bit goes. I'll post a new topic about it when the beta version is ready.

I bought the Kestral for about 9 million. If I had access to a Rebel Destroyer at the time, I would have certainly bought one instead of the Kestral. Nothing beats the Destroyer. πŸ™‚ I've never heard of the "Galactic Scourge" plugin...Sounds good. Confederation Battleship? I'll bet it's one tough ship. If you want, I'll post another story pretty soon.

    • You bought the Kestrel for 9 megs? Interesting.....CW's cost the same. And there's a CW named Silver Sky Whale on EVO, and a Kestrel named Silver Sky Whale on EVO.....Hmmmmm..And yeah the Confed Battleship in one tough cookie, seeing as how it has like 11-13 neutron turrets and tons of shielding. There's also a Confed Heavy Carrier, which looks like a Confed Cruiser that has 3 opened tubes sticking out from the center, from which suicide shuttles are laucnhed, and the shuttles slam into you blowing themselves up and, usually, you as well. Still outta stories. Nothing seems to be happenning much. Well, it's back to the front for me. Cyaz!

Yeap, I got the Kestral for 9 million credits flat at the planet two jumps north of Spica. Atleast, I'm pretty sure that's how much I got it for... πŸ™‚ The Confed Battleship carries neutron turrets? I don't remember those being in EV. Also, the escort carrier sounds very interesting, and somewhat crazy. Suicide shuttles? Ok... πŸ™‚

    • Ok, this just happend to me about an hour ago. I was in my CW "Galinia" that I had recently captured and a Vonian Frigate, Lazaria, and 4 frieghters as escorts.

Anyway, I'm on the last mission of the Huron series and I jump into the Troub system and find a huge swarm of fighters, at a glance I estimated 3 dozen kraits and a dozen CFs, not to mention a sizable group of warships (most common of which I saw were turncoats). So imediatly my escorts go zooming off the screen do engage whatever they could find while I turn around and head toward the edge of the system, luring the entire swarm of rapidly approaching fighters towards the range of my 3 phase turrets. One by one the fighters catch up, then 3 by 3, then 6 by 6, and I blast each small swarm as I come up. By now I can't see my escorts and I figure chances are they're already dead. Eventually the swarm of fighters are dead and I'm left with about 10% armor. Then I press the "target closest enemy" button and see the nearest (and from what I could tell, last) ship attacking was a Turncoat who was quickly firing rockets. Any one of his rockets could of taken me down and I figure I've lost the battle, but then I relize the guy I had captured the CW from had it eqquiped with 3 CFs. So as a last ditch effort I launch my fighters and order them to attack the Turncoat. 2 minutes later I got the "target destroyed" sound and 2 of the 3 CFs returned!

So I head back towards the planet and to my suprise, my Vonian Frigate, Lazaria, and 3 of my 4 freighter escorts regrouped with me! I checked and amazingly the Frigate still had 87% armor and the Lazaria still had 90% shields (I didn't bother to check the freighters, which I was planning to get rid of anyway).

    • SkybladeΒ—The neutron turrets on EV are part of the GS plug. Here's a battle I had just minutes ago in thw Vastan system.

So, I'm flying around Vastan in the S.S. Blackstar my Azdgari warship. So, I'm at say 95% armor after just beating an Igazra with some help. There were 2 Zidaras, and ordinary one and the Z.S.S. Serenade! So, I decide to have some fun, and I sick my six Azdaras on the Serenade. He launches his fighters and fires 3 phase turrets, as well as SAD's ! So I fire at him with all 4 of my turrets and launch a dispy rocket, and in about 20 seconds he's at 20% shields and all six of my fighters are fine. And then, the Serenade did something that I had noted Zidagar warships to do: it ran away!! So, I send my fighters back on him, making him stop to fire. I get in and disable him with my phase turrets and tell my fighters to hold position. I board the Z.S.S. Serenade and found an easy 1.03 million credits awaiting me. So I swipe the money and two more Zidaras seem to wanna give me trouble. So I sick my fighters on one of the Zidagar fighters, whilst attacking the fighters myself as well making short work of it. I did the same on the other, leaving 2 fighters left. So I tell my Azdaras to attack, and the Zidagar Fighters is charging me, and I fire a dispy. rocket and shower him with phase blasts reducing him to scrap in about 2 seconds. I do the same with the other, and send my fighters on one of the Zidaras. I take out the other easily enough with phase turrets and dispy. rockets, and once I finished him my fighters had reduced the other Zidara to 50% shields with no casualties whatsoever. So I fire on the Zidara with my phase turrets, while my Azdara fighters swarm him with their swivel phases. We take him down and one more fighter jumps in and attacks. So, I let my fighters take care of him, and whole ordeal only left me with what would probly be 30% armor if it told you the exact amount. Also, it turns out that Vastan was the only system mad at me, so I went off to Terapin to regain my shields and restock my dispy. launchers.

And I do know that the neutron turret is the confeds' counterpart for rebel mass drivers, but Neutron Turrets are turrets which fire the same ol' red energy blasts and EV Neutron Cannons. And when I said Confed Heavy Carrier, I meant Confed Heavy Carrier, not the Rebel Escort Carrier!! There's also a Mass Driver Turret. Mass Driver Turret is to Mass Driver as Neutron Turret is to Neutron Cannon. And there's the Turreted Deathray, which is my personal favorite since it takes out any ship in 2 seconds or less (hence the name Deathray). There's also a Defence Platform, which looks like a large immobile flying saucer used by the feds, and they have an insanely large amount of shielding and armor. There is also another type of Defence Platform which is propelled out into space at high speed, very high speed, and could be launching both Confed Patrol Ships and Rebel Manta fighters, which is used by Independent systems. Another new ship for the feds is the Confed PT (patrol, I believe) Boat. It's like a bigger beeffier but slower confed gunboat. And there are bays for all three small confed ships: Gunboats, PT Boats, and Patrol Ships. There's another new Confed ship in Glactic Scourge called the Light Frigate. It looks like a smaller confed Frigate with a hole at the front end, which is a patrol ship bay I believe. The GS plug is pretty cool altogether, and there's a lot more new stuff in it than what I said above. You should d/l it someday!

    • I've already killed Disco Bison before. Even though it was really hard, I still beat him, and nearly got killed myself. No one seemed to care about my battle with the Z.S.S. Serenade, either that or they didn't take time to read it :frown:.
