Now I have seen the "disco bison" before.
But never bothered to fight the wood ship.
Now I have taken over the Emaguala system,(Spelling right? bah who cares)
all 3 planets in 5 min so my question is...
How hard could the "Disco Bison" realy be?
I mean they are made out of wood

Thanks for all the comments guys, and for correcting me on my errors. At first, when I heard of the "Neutron Turrets," I thought you were talking about the Voinian weapons in Override, not the old, heavy red gun in Escape Velocity.
Also, the stories are all getting better. Keep posting away, everyone! I'll try to get another story here soon.

Hey everyone, I've got another story. Once again, I was rooting with the Rebels, and this all took place a long time ago, but I remember very well...
Atlast! I had completed all of the Rebellion missions. Some of them had been hard, from bringing Rebel Commandos to Luna to destroying the Alien fleet. I had been collecting money, so I had the funds to buy my favorite ship (besides the destroyer). I bought me a Rebel Cruiser, outfitted it with everything I wanted: lots of proton turrets, heavy rockets, torpedoes, and mantas. I then hired four destroyers, and two ketrals. (I highly respected the kestrals for their quick strikes and lightning fighters) Then, I headed for some Confederation worlds. First, I went to Sol. When I arrived, a little to my dissapointment, there was only one frigate, two junkboats, and a couple of patrol vessels. The junkboats were intercepted and destroyed immediately by the lightings, while my mantas swarmed and destroyed the patrol ships. My fleet had fun with the frigate, where for about 15 seconds we bombarded him with everything we had. Before long, he shot away in flames, and I decided to head for Centauri. Now Centauri was a different story from Sol. Usually, Centauri is a quiet place, with little if any war activity. When I arrived, there was one cruiser, a rare four frigates, around three junkboats, and 2 patrol ships (not including the ones being carried on the cruiser) My fleet immediately went to work. One of my mantas was hit and destroyed by a nasty heavy rocket from a junkboat, but the lightnings avenged the manta. Two junkboats were destroyed by the weapons-packed lightnings, and one of my destroyers feasted on the other with a barage of torpedoes. Now the frigates were a problem. Even though we could easilly beat them with our huge fleet, they could inflict some serius damage. I got my fleet together and headed away from the cruiser so we could engage the frigates alone. By now, the cruisers patrol ships headed torward us, in which a couple were once again destroyed by the lightnings, and our deadly array of proton fire took out the rest. Now we took on the frigates. I took my fleet straight towards them, in which missiles and torpedoes began flying from both sides. My ship was in the lead, and had taken a few hits. I ordered my mantas at one of the frigates, and the lightnings began to do the same. Our ships met with a loud clash of heavy rockets and proton fire. My ship was now down to around 60% shields, but I had faith in my cruiser. The frigate my mantas had been fightings was just about crimpled from my torpedoes, though I had lost two of my mantas. I ordered my remaining mantas to return to my cruiser, while me and my fleet continued against the frigates. I finished off the frigate that had destroyed two of my mantas with a few more torpedoes, and gave him a evil laugh as he burst into flames. The other three frigates were still fighting, in which were all targeting one of my destroyers. "Oh no you don't!" I said to myself, as I took my ship towards the frigates. I released my mantas, ordered them at another frigate, and four lightnings continued to swarm the battle lines. I destroyed another frigate, in which my heavy rocket disabled him and I finished him with proton fire. However, my destroyer was now gone, making me rather enraged. My fleet continued to pound the frigates. By now, the Confederation Cruiser was getting closer, so we had to hurry. One of my kestrals and destroyers turned another frigate into dust, leaving the other frigate alone. Three of the lightnings were now destroyed, but we could take it from here. We all gave the last frigate some wrath, but it didn't die without a fight. While his shields began to fall at a alarming rate, one of my kestrals that had slowly been wearing away was destroyed, at about the same time the frigate exploded. I had lost two capital ships, but my two mantas somehow lived the firefight, and I ordered them back to my cruiser...They had done enough this battle. The single lightning was the first to reach the cruiser. Although it was destroyed, the cruisers shields were now around 95%. Our fleet made a dash for the lonely cruiser, and we showed him the meaning of anger. Proton bolts shot in all directions, heavy rockets flew, torpedoes sounded...The noise was amazing! We continued to fly circles around the cruiser, taking advantage of our swift tactics. One of my destroyers suddenly jerked to a stop, and was then destroyed. I hoped that was the last ship I would lose...Finally, we took the cruiser's shields down, and his armor was all that was left to deal with. proton fire finally disabled him, and he was destroyed. It was one big battle, that's for sure. My fleet now numbered my own Rebel Cruiser with a shield status of 28%, two rebel destroyers, and one kestral. I had lost some good vessels, but I had made the Confederation pay with their lives. Oh well, thought you all might like this story. Please share any you have!

Nice story I must say, but this is the Override web board, and although stories such as that belong on the EV web board, I'm not trying to say you're not allowed to post EV battles on the EV:O web board. I've taken time to read all the stories, and I think they're all quite good. Here's a story of a battle I had just yesterday.
I'm flying through an unhabited system in my trusty ol' S.S. Trailblazer, when a Voinian Frigate jumps in. Now we should all know that taking down a even a Voinian Frigate is tedious work in a Freight-Courier. So, I challenge him by firing a rocket or two and my 3 blaze turrets. He fires a rocket back as well as some Neutron blasts. I fly away a little distance to recharge my shields which are at about 75%, and he's shooting rockets at me, and Voinian rockets keep flying until they hit something, so I'm pulling the best evasive manoeuvers I can in my Freight-Courier, dodging the rockets. So, I fire my own rockets, which most hit although some miss. So, I've fired about 8 rockets at him, with my shields at about 90%. I go in and fire all my blaze turrets and a few rockets, while he fires rockets and neutrons. I'm into my armor when I fly away again, with 3 rockets left. He fires more rockets at me, I think "Crud. I'm dead meat if even 2 of those hit me". So I'm evading the rockets when I get back into shields, and I spot him on screen. So, I fire a rocket and it hits him, and I fly away to regain shields. By the time I'm at 50% shields, I have 2 rockets and I'm hoping the Destroyer is out of rockets. I fly in and fire a rocket, shooting off my turrets at him. I'm almost at 40 percent armor when I fire my last rocket, and the Voinian Destroyer is disabled! I fly in and blow him up with my blaze turrets, and hyperjump away to Bakka.
Nice story isn't it? And about my rockets, I had gotten then in exchange for the missiles, in case you're wondering. Even though taking on a Voinian Destroyer doesen't seem like much, doing it in a Freight-Courier is tough, as I said earlier, and it was a real death-defying excperience!

I don't remember who said it, but, just because the EMALGHA are weak, doesn't mean the DISCO BISON is! Have you ever fired on him? He has SAE modules and his amazing Disco Machine Gun! He isn't related to Emalghians whatsoever! He just flies one of their ships!
-
The Disco Bison doesn't fly a CW, and can't. He was programmed in an Emalgha Warship. The game doesn't change it.

Nice stories Aluben (sp?) and Skyblade!

I've scoured most of the Crescent now, and still haven't found Mr. Bison. I promise I'll share the battle on here, whther it be good or bad.

Nice stories Aluben (sp?) and Skyblade! I rarely saw such a big fleet in EV, let alone decide to go up against it! Especially in Centauri, usually when I would go into Centauri, there would be NO ONE there. Even a shuttlecraft was rare.

I've saw the Disco Bison down near the Proxima Nebula. A Turncoat attacked him, and he unleashed SAE's on the Turncoat and it was scrap in moments. When a Krait hit him with its blaze cannons, the Bison started firing a super-dense line of Emalgha bullets. After seeing this I figured I'd be better off leaving him alone....

**No no no! Skyblade! Feel free to share! A good story is a good story! It may be from EV, but if its good, share it!:)Matt Burch! After a long and stressful hunt, I had finally found the guy I wanted to destroy...I had completed all the Confederation missions. (for once: I've only done the Confederation strings once, and the Rebellion string about five or six times. ) I was now proudly flying my Confederation Cruiser: The most powerful vessel in the game, besides a high-tech kestral with the name of "Matt Burch." Since I had now completed all the missions, all I wanted to do now was blow up the rediculous kestral, and I was content to do so. After stumbling over him in a system in the southern portion of the galaxy, I decided it was time to fight. I fired a single torpedo at him to announce I meant bussiness. Of course, he released his enhanced lightings at me, and we dulled it out. The lightings fired rocket after rocket and plenty of javelins and laser beams, but they weren't a match for such a large capital ship. My proton turrets slowly tore through the lightings shields, and my neutron cannons and heavy rockets continued to fire as well. Before long, both the lightings were a flaming ruin, and my shields were at 60 percent shields. I now headed away from Matt's approaching Kestral to give me some time to recharge my shields. Since his ship was faster then mine, I released my five patrol ships, and ordered them at the powerful ship to evade his attention from me. The patrol vessels didn't last to long, but I was firing torpedoes all the while. (I had three launchers, so I could shoot them pretty rapidly) By the time all the patrol ships were destroyed, Matt's shields were now at 78%. I still had a long way to go, but I was going to try. Now that my shields were around 90%, I made a dash at the enraged kestral. As I headed torward him, I was able to release about ten torpedoes in rapid succession, followed by two heavy rockets and plenty of proton fire. As I past by, I took a couple of heavy rockets and proton fire in the front as well, depleting my shields to about shields to about 70%. Matt was now at 50% shields, but they were recharging quite rapidly. I decided to head away from him, and let him slowly catch up with me, while I fired my torpedoes. Since I had a rediculous store of 100 torpedoes, the supply didn't bother me. As Matt got closer, I released around thirty torpedoes before we were in turret range. His shields now dipped to 27%, and we began to dull at close range. I then received a huge number of heavy rockets, which brought me down to half my normal shield status. We continued to face one another, and my torpedoes and protons continued to fire. I quickly switched over to me neutron blasters, which I had no idea how much of an effect they had on the kestral. Atlast, Matt was down to 2% shields, and I was down to 10% shields. Matt began to flee in an attempt to leave the system. I wasn't letting him leave this fight after such a long engagement! As he fled, I released a long volley of torpedoes, finally disabling him. I was so enraged at the galactic menace that I didn't care to steel all the money he carried. I destroyed him instantly, roaring with laughter at the same time. "I got you, Matt! You are no longer the most powerful vessel in the universe!!!" (no offense, Matt, but I just had to share the story. ) Hope you all liked the story. Also, I wanted to know how you all have been able to destroy Matt Burch? What kind of tactics did you use? What ship did you fly? Share away!
Also, Stud, it wouldn't be so bad if these stories did make you want to play Escape Velocity again...Maybe you've forgotten how much fun it is!

Hahah, got that right Skyblade, nice job by the way on beating Burch! Although I pretty much ruined EV (I went on a plug-in frenzy, and ended up with about 20 cheat plug-ins, and modified data and such) I still remember the time I saw Burch, and decided to attack him. Because I was in a mega modified Alien Cruiser (yes thats how much I ruined EV :frown: ) it didn't take much to kill him. I got him disabled, and because my crew was 32767 or something like that, I decided to board him. Because I liked Heavy Rockets at the time, when I boarded him, he had like 2567 H. Rockets or something like that, I couldn't resist trying to take his ammo. I don't remember if he had money or not, and the capture rate was like 95% or something, this happened a LONG time ago, so I don't remember too well. I wanted those Rockets, and clicked the ammo button. I waited.....and waited.....and waited...and waited for about 15 minutes, I assumed my computer froze because I guess EV didn't know how to handle what I did, or it was taking a LONG time to load all the rockets onto my ship, so I forced restart. I never did capture the guy.

Yeap...That's one thing that ruins games: cheats. Fortunately, I never got to far with them in Escape Velocity, and it was then that I realized how much they could ruin the game. I promised myself I wouldn't use them, and the fun has payed off. I feel really proud beating Matt without cheats, since you have the feeling of "I did it without the help of some super ship that comes with a cheat." Anyway, have you got anymore stories coming up? I guess if you can't tell a story that happened in EV or EVO, you could make one up. I haven't done that yet, since I still have plenty to tell.

I betcha you run out of stories before I do, Skyblade! This next one comes from my very first EVO pilot file, Paladin.
I was doing the last Zachit mission, and I'd made it this far in my Miranu Gunship, so I decided I'd take on the Rock. Needless to say, I got demolished the first few times, but then I got a lucky break. I came in to the system, and only two of the CWs attacked me. The rest were busy toasting the Zachit. I took out the six Crescent Fighters with no big problem, only a few slight shield hits. Another group of three came, and I took 'em out. Another group of three, and I took 'em out. Then the Zachit had been cleaned up, so the remaining seven fighters came at me. I had a little trouble, but with the use of my trusty repulsor beam I made it without getting into my armor. Then I noticed the seven, menacing CWs bearing down on me. First, I flew around, trying to run them out of SADs before I attacked. I at length was successful, but I took a few hits. After charging my shields to about 60%, I went after the first CW. In these days, I was unfamiliar with the Monty Python, so I went straight in, firing Dispy Rockets and Phase turrets. He disabled with my shields at about 5%, and I took him out. I recharged, and tackled the next CW, circling, firing, and finally winning. Then I'm thinking, "Hey, I've got a chance here!" The next two CWs were in a group, so I approached with care, and accidentally achieved a picture perfect Monty Python. Once those two were out of the way, I reflected on my great luck and the absurd stupidity of those CWs. (it wasn't till later I figured out it worked in other scenarios. ) The next CW I charged head on, and with the help of my Rockets, took him out. The remaining two were near each other, so I devloped a new maneuver to help me out, I call it the Shelton Slide. I powered my engines, shot by at an angle, and pounded 'em with turrets. With the help of this tactic I took out one of the CWs, and was about to defeat the other when I was struck by a spinning SAD. It pounded me down to a sliver of my armor and I beat a hasty retreat. Once my armor had charged to a decent rate, I took out the CW with a coupla long range D. Rockets. And that's my story. Howdja like it?
