    • Hmmm.....These are all very very nice theories, but I believe that the truth behind the Council is this: 1) The three Strands are all different races, because how else could they each have different home planets? 2) The Council is called 'Council' because it's a council of delegates from each of the strands trying to work out a peace plan, not harboring some deep and evil secret it wishes to unleash upon the other Stands to make them fear the Council. 3) I do think there is some reason that Igadzra, Zidagar, Azdgari, and Gadzair all have the same letters in them. Though that exact reason is unknown to me right now. 4) The reason the Council hate you for attacking any of the Strand is because it doesn't want you changing anything in the war, because they probly think if one Strand dominates the others, there won't be real peace between the first Strand and the enslaved Strand, and the other Strand (the one that wasn't captured) will still be fighting the first Strand, and if both Strands conquer the other Strand, then the two Strands will be at all-out war on each other over the other Strand, and might destroy a few planets along the way. And that's all of it in a nutshell!

      Peace out, fellow EV fans!

I'm the captain of a mercenary fleet, which has a very good deal of versitality. The ships include: A Voinian Cruiser (my own ship), a CW, and the capitol ships of each of the three Strands; a Zidara, and Igazra, and an Azdgari Warship.

    • Well the letter similarity is something simple along the lines of the namers ethier got creative or ran out of ideas when creating the names. (This also may be a secondary reason to having ships named after personell, the primary reason being the creators, quite understandably, wanted their names to be in somewhere players would see instead of credits which nobody reads. Anyway, I'm getting off topic.) And they probably figured nobody would really pay atention to letters in names.

Hmmm...I never knew that. One big race fighting each other? Very interesting. But even if Gadzair is the remains of a once giant strand, they still have a extrememly powerful defense fleet. 😉

    • Here's what I have concluded about the Council and the Strands. It might not be true but its my best guess.

      1. The 3 Strands are all one specie or race, but were separated into three different political factions. The EV Override pdf manual claims that this race's true name has been long forgotten, if it ever had one.

      2. Gadzair was the homeworld of this race. After centuries of bloodshed, the surface of Gadzair was almost completely obliterated to point where the planet became unihabitable. The 3 Strands left their true homeworld, and went their seperate ways, settling each on their own new "home" planet.

      3. The Council is sort of a United Nations for 3 Strands. Perhaps they each send diplomats to the Council to establish some kind of lasting peace or trading agreement. Council Station orbits Gadzair, maybe to remind the 3 Strands of their past and to send a warning to future generations of what war can do.

      4. The Council has the ability to order the Strands around, as was shown with the Azdgari. I think the game has the Council allied with all 3 Strands. Your legal status in the Gadzair system starts out as clean, but once you take a side in the Strand War it automatically become Galactic Scourge.

      5. All I know about Ali Saidi is that he was a beta tester for EV Override. I don't know his game personality's true connection to the Council.

      Agree? Disagree? Let me know.

    • Yes, a very concise conclusion :).

And the news message that you receive after unbalancing the strand war: after years of silence the mysterious 'council' is considering the future of the strands.. or something, suggests that it is definitely balance that they are trying to maintain. As to the crescent station, kept up to block the sole hyperway beyond the crescent, 'to the sane,' it is definitely a mystery why the council wants this. Presumably they know of what is out there, and I guess it can't be good!

Why is it impossible? Well, they only use Crescent Warships! ONLY!

I've dominated Council Station. It wasn't too hard (At least, not with my Azdara), just time consuming.

Also, here's the generally accepted theory of the strands:
The original race (Refered to as the Gadzair), after growing to cover the entire Crescent, fell apart. Separate factions grew to mistrust each other. Mistrust became war.

The rest is sketchy. I believe that a coup took place within the Council. The new Council decided that war-for-profit was a good idea. They used propaganda to draw all the faction's forces to the Gadzair system. During the ground war which took place, the Council released a biological agent which rapidly mutated its victims. Before the survivors could retreat, they were gunned down. The contaminated Gadzair were placed on distant worlds. Not remembering what had occured, their xenophobia, combined with Council propaganda, led them to war with each other. I believe that the Council wants the stalemate to continue because a war of attrition would weaken both sides. The corrupt Council could then come in and mop up.

    • Hmm.....I think I'm beginning to change my mind....I think I'm getting a new theory,,,, So, the Azdgari, the Zidagar, and the Igadzra were all originally one race whose name was Gadzair? Hmm....It could be that they were split apart from somewhere a millenia ago, and centuries later, each one colonized different places on Gadzair without knowing it, and suddenly came in contact with each other (and knowing the Azdgari they probably attacked immediately ;)). So then, they began fighting over territory on Gadzair and then went to their ships, then other fleets from the other strands came in and they had a battle, all but obliterating Gadzair in the process, as well as themselves. And then later they discivered other Strands' colonies, and, thinking they could be colonized, attempted to land were blown outta the sky. And then the war started and has been going on for centuries as we all know. And, another thing, what goomiester said about the 'mistrusting' each other, it might be true but it's really the Igadzra who mistrusts everybody. And so, I still think that the Council is like a UN for the Strands. And, also, I know that their race's name has been long forgotten, but , I think the reason why they each have a 'name' is because it's the name of their tribe or group. Their name could possibly have been Gadzair at first, but when they were 'split apart' from each other, they probly had those tribe names already. The fact that Igadzra, Azdgari, and Zidagar all have the same letters is probly supposed to be some indication of the three Strands being one race. And that's my brand spankin-new theory in a nutshell.
