    • Who are the "Council"?

I know this has probably been asked before but scince the search feature was taken out I guess I'll have to repeat the question. Who are the Coucil guys on Council Station and the very rare ship that comes by labeled as them (which I've only seen once in Sol). The only time I've ever been on the station was when I got a Ferry Passengers there once. I don't even know what spieces they are since they're so close to the Agzadra/Igzadra/Zachit borders.

    • I believe that EVO just leaves the Council as somewhat of a mystery. For plugs concerning the Council, I'd recommend beyond the Crescent.

    • I've always wandered the same thing...Who on earth are these Council people? I'll have to get Beyond the Crescent sometime...I also don't think the Council let you land at their station.

    • WarBeast, I think the council are kinda of all the strands...I'm not sure, but I think the strands got separated once, and started fighting...But really, I'm not sure.

    • Oh boy, not this topic again. I must have seen this topic 10 times, but I don't mine. Anyway...

I personnaly think that the Council are the 4th strand and that they bombed out the Strands homeworld; Gadzair, and that they control the other 3 strands. Pretty simple, but I could go into a lot of detail.

    • The Council? Well, aren't they overlords of the strands? My understanding was that they set the Strand Wars running in a balance to maintain the economy - which constant war is good for, economists. As such, that is why they get so annoyed when you upset the balance of the Strands. Other points - Don't they run the station blocking the crescent's east side? (Well, commanding the Azdgari to, anyway) Which shows some whack with the Strands. And if you try to dominate them, don't the strands all hate you?
I've always assumed that the strands and strandless could all interbreed= one species kept at war by some one (unless the gene for paranoia reacts with the melodrama gene?)
One sec - maybe its those ever-so-nice Miranu are secretly running the show? Or a people descended from Matt Burch/ Hector shenanigans?
Insert conspiracy theory here, as they say...

    • "try to dominate the station". You type this as if you HAVE dominated the station! I don't think, without cheating, it is possible to dominate that blasted station! If you haven't read my story about my attempt in "Moments of Pride and Accomplishment".

Why is it impossible? Well, they only use Crescent Warships! ONLY!

    • Yup! Only try! Every ship eventually goes down... But I kinda meant that an unsuccesful try radiates out a much larger red patch on the map than usual - or is it just me? I think that all the strands have Gadzair (or at least the Council govt) as an ally. Its been a while since I looked at the res files...

ps Nice to get a reply so fast! I broke my teeth on EV 1.0.1, but haven't been to this site for something like 4 years - its "internet-lonely" in scotland.

Yes, I think everybody is allied with the Council. If you bother them, then most of the strand races will start hating you.

    • I think it's perpetual fear of annihilation that keeps the strands in line. The Council, though they only show that they have normal Crescent technology, may have some dark and sinister secret that makes the strands fear and obey them.

Probably. Does "Beyond the Crescent" portray the Council as a deadly and technical race?

    • Another thing you notice:
Rearrange the letters in Azgardi and you get Zidagar.
Rearrange the letters in Zidagar and you get Igadzra.
Rearrange the letters in Igadzra and you get Gadzair.
      All contain the letters A,A,R,G,I,Z,D.
Coincidence? Heh heh heh, I think not!! 😄

Wow. That's interesting...I'm sure Ambrosia had some reason for having all the strand races contain the same letters. Definately not coinicidence. 🙂

    • Whatever happened to the Council Station website, the site dedicated to the mystery of the Council? I tried to look it up so I could include a link to it in this thread, but it isn't listed on Evula's webring. Sorry about that, but I can't find it! Maybe somebody else has it bookmarked, and can confirm if the site is still up.

    • But whats with the incredibly rare Council ship? It was in the Sol system, and that was even just a few months (game time) tops after I established trade relations with the Minaru and Humans.

Actually, the "Override Civilisations" chapter of the EVO documentation clearly states that the strands are all one race, fighting their own people. My guess is that the Council is the remains of an overall government they once had, kind of like UE, and that the dead planet Gadzair was the homeworld of this race and was destroyed by civil war.
