    • Help! I need help! (Besides mental help)

My current ship, the Daikatana IV, is a nicely outfitted UE Destroyer, with 3 Blaze Turrets and 2 Hunter Missile Launchers, an Afterburner, etc. I'm doing the string of Huron pirate missions. I can't seem to defeat the huge squadron of 10+ Turncoats and all those Kraits and junk, even with the cloaking device. So, I have two questions:

      1. Does anyone know a simple strategy to defeat those turncoats, like a bunch of escorts? (I have almost 2M credits...)

      2. What ship should I buy to destroy it them. Keep in mind, I do courier missions oftenly, but like to get into battles too. 🙂 Should I do the Crescent Warship or what?

      Thanks!

    • Well you can't buy a Crescent Warship with 2M cr, I think it costs around 9M. My strategy in that case is to buy a needle launcher (the more the better), get around 100 needle missiles, and either hire as many escorts as you can, or capture var. Helians, from say Hatuli.

Then, when you go into battle, immediately start running to the edge of the system where Turncoats, et al can't catch you so only Kraits can make it (use an afterburner to attempt to outrun the missiles fired). Aim your needles at the Kraits nearest you (R on the keyboard), and be willing to use your turret. You will be damaged by them, but hopefully, not enough to reduce you to your armor. Then start after the Turncoats. Attack them with Hunters first (if you don't have any, then use the Needles) to cut down their strength. After that, the UE and Huron ships ought to have destroyted a lot of them, so just go in their with your blazes, well, blazing, and you've won.

It's a hard mission in the beginning, but with that kind of ship you ought not to have too much trouble (I usually fly it in a Helian!).

      Anyway, hope that helps.

    • You have several options. You can a)get the Crescent Warship, and have better odds of beating the Turncoats 🆒 Wait and get the UE Crusier c)Use the Monty Python d) get a warship escort (This will cost a lot)
By far the cheapest is to use the Monty Python. Since you do courier missions, buying a warship might be bad, because it has a slower hyperdrive.

This just isn't my strong point.

    • I'd recommend buying yourself a Lazira, and using some of the strategies mentioned here. This mission can take several attempts, and is probably the only one where kraits are used very effectively.

    • You need some Netrun turtents. If you go back wards and start shooting rockets left and right at the karits that are coming at you. But you must have a fast ship to do that and a lot of rockets. Or you should get some Disprite Rockets. I think they kill a karit in one shot. Don't let them get in fireing range of you. Then singe out the Turncots one by one. Just land on the planet if your shields get to low.

I know how you feel...I couldn't complete this mission for a LONG time! I was flying a UE destroyer, also, and even using the Monty Python, it is impossible to destroy all the rediculous numbers of kraits that come at you. Buy a really good, FAST (you have to have speed for this mission) ship, like an Arada or Lazira or something with upgrades, and you can rid the kraits one by one. Then taking on the Turncoats shouldn't be a problem.

    • Afterburn away from the battlescene so that the Kraits have to follow you in a long string. Equip yourself with phase turrets instead of blaze - then you can kill the Kraits before they can even fire on you most of the time.. and can easily kill the Turncoats from out of their range.

      ------------------

    • Take out the Kraits with your lasers, than use missles to take out a few turncoats then go kill the rest of the Turncoats.

    • I reccomend equipping Swivel Phase Cannons, 3 Dispersal Rocket Launchers, and as many Dispersal Rockets as you can hold. Ditch your Hunter Missiles. Enter the system, and use your afterburner to escape the Kraits. Fly away in a straight line. Don't swerve. Slow down, and pick off the Kraits one by one with your Dispersal Rockets. After the last Krait bites the dust, wait until the system is empty of Turncoats before leaving. If the Turncoats kill the Destroyers, don't attack them. If nobody else engages them, they will leave the system, and you complete the objective of driving them off.

    • Thanks to ALL of you. I tried the very first recommendation, and it worked (almost too well). Anyways, I'm 3M credits happier. 🙂 My personal thanks to diddly for that. Anyways, now I need to decide on my next ship. :frown: I'm gonna go for, eigh, a Lazira?
