FOr fighting Voins, the UE fighter is good. It's just the right speed, that without upgrades, you can do a strafing run on any Voin ship (not fighters) and only get hit by one (1) Neutron round. It also can M.P. nicly.

The best ship (IMNSHO) is the Enhanced Azdara, although you can't buy it (because it's essentially invincible, and that would take the fun out of the game.)
