What happened to this plug-in? Is there any place I can download it?

It is still in development, but at a rate best measured in geological time. No place to download at present, but if it ever gets as far as a beta level, there probably will be.

    • I was just thinking, the different governments should all have different types of weapon technologys. Like one would have heavy particle weapons (neutron and beta-particle), another would have EM radiation (lasers), another would be small particle (tachyons or nutrenos(sp)), another would have progectiles (chainguns, railguns), and yet another would be masters off guided ordinance (missles, torpedos). I can't think of any other weapon types right now, but tell me what you think.

Well, there are some sub-categories. Rockets, mines, and space bombs are unguided weapons, perhaps these are also used by the projectile gang. You can also categorize the particle/energy weapons by whether they fire a burst or beam: some govts may specialize in beams, others may use the burst mode.

You could also characterize goverments by the type of defensive measures they use. Some may have massively shielded/armored ships while others depend on speed to avoid attacks. This would also affect the type of upgrades available from each government. The "invulnerability" govt would have shield and/or armor upgrades, the "agility" govt would have speed/maneuverability upgrapdes. And of course for EVO the different levels of ECM/ECCM would allow further categories. You could even make a govt that doesn't have any particular strength in any area of technology, but their ships always travel in groups, so nobody ever fights one but a fleet.

Why don't you, Dave, take the first slot (0-199, 0-17, 0-63, etc) I'll take the second slot (I've decided to make a full portion of the galaxy) and people just pick up ID numbers as they come. If people need more resources, they can try to get them from other people or ask the organizers to let them have some of the remainder resources.

      Bubbles

PS. Outfits seem to be in a little bit short supply, maybe there should be a bunch of universal outfits (like the map, escape pod, etc) that everyone can use. Perhaps 16 outfits per person? Does that sound reasonable? Same with ships, perhaps...

(This message has been edited by Bubbles (edited 06-17-2000).)

    • Sounds good. No one use those 1st or 2nd slots, or it would really make it difficult puting things together.

Reserve a slot for me, too. 🙂

Yep. I think we should reserve a whole slot for the Independents and their common items/ships used galaxy-wide. (How about calling them the LoAE? The Legacy of Ancient Earth? ;))

My race is most likely going to be the heavy-industrial socialist government with well-armored ships using somewhat low-tech projectile weapons (gatlings for primaries, heavy railguns for unguided secondary, slow dumb-homing cruise missiles for long-range).

They're not going to have fighters as we know them (neither do the Igadzra, BTW). The cannonship will be the smallest ship they have (which is comparable to a Pirate Arada... the railgun kicks serious butt, but it's ammo is limited (like the twin dispies of the P. Arada), while the gatlings are rather weak in comparison to other race's primaries. Furthermore, there's going to be two types of cargo ships (necessary for an industrial race), a missileboat, and a cruiser.

Their heraldic colors are red and beige (see my cannonship...). I haven't decided on their name yet, but I'll come up with it soon.

      Does anyone object?

    • Oh, everyone, remember to add 128 to each of those numbers to get the IDs.

With spins, such as weapons, make sure you grab a copy of EV Formula Calc and make sure that your weapon index number has the right spin, to aviod confusion. Lets see, 3 people doing a whole section, now we need 4 more. And some people to create graphics for the graphically unskilled. My graphic skills are being used alot at the moment, so I will only be doing graphics for myself. Sorry =P. Can't help anyone.

They will be democrats, and they want to kick the commey- er I mean socialist's äss. 😄 Well, the plot for the player will be a bit more complex than that.

They're super-intelligent and they wage war over political differences? Think again. Any super-intelligent species is supposed to be pacifist. Apart from that, you'll have to watch out very carefully not to disrupt the game balance with super-shïps or super-wëäps.
