There are only two ways out of the system, one of which is already blocked by a Kayan minefield in the next system out. I could easily set up a minefield in Mavs and block the other exit from Akrahyek as well. I'd never have to break the ceasefire, simply wait for your occupation to die of starvation when they can't get any supplies into or out of the system, unless they'd like to take up lives as farmers on Kayia. Thunder drops out of hyperspace into the former RA system of F-25. His previous visit had been aboard a blinded Kayan arada, but now he was there aboard the Storm, and as the leader of the government now in charge of the system. After taking in the view of the lush blue and green world against the backdrop of the nebula, Thunder lands at the small spaceport of the newly formed colony.

After an hour of seraching, Thunder manages to track down the scientists responsible for creating the F-25 upgrade packages. He informs them that he is funding them an additional 500,000 credits to improve the design and strength of the anti-armor weapon contained in the F-25 upgrade packages. The scientists, though still shocked by Daedalus's death and the RA's decision to join the Kayans, thank Thunder for his support of their project and inform him that they had completed construction of 50 additional F-25 upgrade packages bound for former RA planets, and that Thunder's fleet should return with them, and that Daedalus had more stored on Mavs and Freeport before his untimely death. They marked on Thunder's planetary maps where to find them. Thunder thanked them for their time and prepared his ships for launch.

On the contrary, Thunder. Nova6 could wipe our half your colonies within 48 hours if he wanted to with minimal losses. You are in no position to make insults and threats against the one of the two largest empires in the world. I suggest you agree to his plan.

That would not be a smart move. Your forces would never survive a trip through a Kayan defense pod minefield. Is it worth the loss of your entire warfleet stationed at Akrahyek and the loss of the cease-fire simply to demand a few more credits? I am trading a border system for a system trapped deep within Kayan territory. Already you're getting the better deal there. If you attempt any action against South Tip Station or Kayia, I will set up a minefield in Mavs and refuse to withdraw from Ariane. In the interests of diplomacy, though, I will offer 300,000 credits, but no more. Respond if you accept.

All is silent in the Akrahyek system, the Voinian forces having departed. Suddenly the silence is broken as two dozen Kayan militia vessels, the vanguard of the recolonization force, enter the system. After confirming it is clear, they send the message out, and the floodgates open. Thousands of civilian vessels come pouring back into the system, Kayans eager to return to their homes on Kayia. Over the chaotic activity of the comm channels, the sentiment is clear. "The occupation is over! Kayia is free once again!" Aboard the Storm, Thunder smiles as he watches the freighters streaming toward the shimmering sphere that is Kayia. His homeworld is back in Kayan hands.

Even as all this is happening, three dozen Kayan freighters arrive in Bakoom and begin scooping up the defense pods making up the mine field in that system. Soon all of the more than seven thousand defense pods are collected, and the freighters make the two jump journey to the DSN-4611 system. There they release the defense pods once again, positioning them directly at the exit point of the hyperlink from Mavs to DSN-4611. As a result, Akrayhek is now within the blockade perimeter.
