    • Emulating For EV under Linux or Windoze?

1st. I do NOT like windows.
2nd. I do am not interested in your opionion of PCs, windows, linux etc...

All I want to know is if somebody can suggest a macos emulator for Linux or Win(2k, 98 whatever).
I used to have a mac...but my current work requires the use of windoze and linux only thus buying a mac just for EVO is a bit excessive.

I remember getting some emulator to run EV on a PC, it ran...sort off...no sound and a nasty memeory leak that caused a crash ever hour or so.

I'd like to get suggestions on good/stable emulators for Windoze or Linux(Obviously Linux is prefred...Although I never heard of one for Linux). Any suggestion of comments are welcome.

      Once again, please no flames.

    • If you have any trouble at all you can search around on the site and you should find instuctions on how to set up executor as well as EVO specifically.

    • Trouble? Yes indeed...

      Well it installs...it runs...no sound...a bit slow.
But if that was all I'd be happy...it just won't seem to actualy display the graphics.
(funny thing is that when I go back to the main menu I see them for a split second before the menu comes up)
This is under Windoze...it might run nice and smooth under Linux...(copying files now)

I will try to search the site for info (You mean msg boards?) and poke around desparetly...

Got it to work....nice and smooth now...no sound but thats ok.
Very smooth for now, probably because I have insane amounts of RAM.
      Thanks for the help..

    • SoftMac is also a good emulator that actually runs MacOS. Unfortunately I haven't tried it with EV because the shareware version has a virtual-RAM restriction just under what is required for EV, but it works with other stuff such as Harry. I can't remember if the full version supports sound or not.
      It's at softmac2000.com.

    • The current demo of Softmac 2000 is less restricted - 24mb ram, which should make it enough. I would have tried it except none of the old systems I've downloaded seem to work :frown:. Have just got EVO going on Executor though - no sound is a bit of a pain, and having only played it on LCIII before, I'm having trouble believing that it should really go this fast! Plus, for whatever reason, the freighter and cruiser graphics still go fuzzy when they turn facing 9-12 in terms of a clock :frown:.
