    • A question I need answered, please


      Ok, here's my problem: I'm trying to create a TC plug that has the same graphocs, but all new systems, govts, ect. I want to use the same graphics because I have neither the skill nor the software to make new pictures. Is there anywhere that I can get a file which contains all the pictures and masks, or amI going to have to export every single freaking one? An answer would be much appreciated.

      Ummm, why don't you just replace the system, government, etc. resources while keeping the spins resources the same? That sounds like all your doing...

    • Ok, I have already tried clearing all the govts and missions, ect. It was tedious but it worked fine. However, whenever I try to mess with the systems, EVedit ends up with a mess of new systems and old, even if I delet the old ones first. I can't just remove the data aliases, cuz then I don't have the pics.

    • Solution: Don't use EV-Edit. It seems good, but it's amazingly buggy.

      Use EV/O (Depending on which one the plug is for) Developer's Map.

    • Ev-Edit has this pull down thing called armeggedon in the galaxy section it erases all the planets and systems i dont see why you would see aliases of the other systems.

    • Use Developers Map, Mission write and touch it off with Res-Edit.

      Make sure you don't have the original EV/O plugins in the EV Edit support files folder (if that's it's name, its been a long time...)

    • Yeah, I'd use EV-Edit for this job. Wouldn't use it for much else though! You can export the graphics that way, no worries... or use the Armageddon option described earlier.

      It's a shame you can't team up with someone and have new graphics; I'm sure there are more artists than coders. Perhaps the 'TC' part has scared them off. It scares me... too many of these projects never see the light of day.

    • don't be ashamed of your lack of original graphics! a well-designed universe with a well-designed plot will make up for many other deficiencies. and perhaps, once people see the work that went into your plug, there will be graphic designers lining up.

      i myself am working on (or working up to) a TC that will also use mostly stock graphics (and a few others i hope to get permission to use); but rather than starting big i'm teaching myself how to do things in res-edit with progressively larger plugs.

      one thing i've learned about ev-edit is that it's great for checking the progress of your plug-in, but not reliable for actually making the changes. even developer's map has some quirks, especially with desc's. and visbits are always weird.
