I've seen UE Carriers go up against Voinian ones. The UE win.
It also has to do with AI play style. The voinians go slap happy on the rockets, while the UE just fire off their hunters right away and then when they're in range, go at it with the blaze turrets.

You notice how everyone else in this thread agrees that a UE carrier beats a Voinian Cruiser?

I have actually created a plug-in in which I tested out the UE ships against Voinian ships. The result was (Without Asteroids):

UE Destroyer wins against Voinian Frigate (duh, I always knew this one. Common knowledge)

UE Carrier and Voinian Cruiser Tied (Yup, It's true. They are TIED!! However, the only reason the UE Carrier wins is because of its Hunter missiles. Take them out, and the Voinian cruiser always wins)

UE Cruiser usually beats Voinian Cruiser (although I did see one time where the V Cruiser died and the UE Cruiser ended up disabled. It was pretty close. Depends on how close they were when they started attacking. Close, Voinians. Far, UE.)

I haven't tried out any of the fighters yet. I must also note, that all these tests were done in asteroid free systems. I will now test how they do, with asteroids. You can also expect, a full tactical report on the UE vs. The Voinians.

UE ships are superior to Voinians, it's pretty simple.. The UE has long range AND short range attack capabilities! The Voinians only have short range... hence, the empire of idiots has met it's doom.

Yes.... hunter missiles give the UE a big advantage. If UE and V's start out far away from each other, UE basically always wins. Close, Voinians win, as has already been said. And every time I see a UE Destroyer vs. a Voinian Frigate, the UE Destroyer wins, usually with about 10-12% shields left.
And another advantage the Carrier has (besides Hunters) is the fighters. UE Fighters are more maneuverable, but what I think is even better for a fighter than maneuverability is rapid-fire weapons. The V. Heavy Fighters can only get a couple neutrons in there before they finish the pass, while UE Fighters can get lots and lots of blaze bursts into their target before they pass or are destroyed.

Yes, it's the fact that the UE has the hunter missiles AND the better fighters. That's why the UE ships always win.

Now, the fact may be that in your plug, the Voinian ship was able to destroy the UE ship... that's cuz all of the voinian fighters went after the carrier, while the UE fighters went after the Voinian Cruiser..... you have to look at "in the end, what ships were left?".. I would imagine that it would be the UE fighters (in that case)

For me I have never seen a Voinian ship beat a UE ship 1on1 in ANY circumstances.

Yep... the reason for that is that UE fighters have 25 Shields and 5 Armor, whereas Voinian fighters have it the other way around. Since rockets only do 7 damage to shields and 18 to armor (ResEdit values; I'm too lazy to calculate) It only takes one rocket to disable a VHF. Also UE Fighters disable at about 2 armor; VHF's disable at about 8 armor.

I beleive a V heacy fighter has 2 sheilds and 20 armor, maybe 15.

In EV:O, we are fortunate enough to have a game which is sufficiently well-balanced that it's not the ship that matters, but the pilot. You can kill just about anything in just about anything else, and there isn't a single ship in which you're guaranteed to be safe if you go looking for trouble.

The best warship, from the five the person who posed the question suggested? Who cares? Try each of them in turn, either with the same pilot file or a mess of seperate ones. Gives you something to do when you run out of main objectives. Learn to take advantage of the strengths of each design, and mitigate the shortcomings. Consider Patton - he goes to war in a souped-up Emalgha freighter.

You also have to consider WHERE you are going with your warship. In the Crescent, a Voinian crusier can beat ANY other vessel. In Emalgha space, however, the Voinian cruiser is dead vulnerable. In the Crescent, an Igazra is pretty good, but not unstopable. However, in Voinian, UE, or Emalgha space it is the dreadnaught of the galaxy.

The Voinian Cruiser or the UE cruiser may well be the strongest ship, especially when used in the crescent, but definately neither is the most deadly.

The problem with the Voinian and UE cruisers is their speed and maneuverability. Almost any ship can outmaneuver the UE cruiser, and even some of the faster asteroids can outrun the Voinian Cruiser. While both ships pack quite a punch, any pilot can easily get away from them without trouble, and can use their speed disadvantage to take them down. Not to mention that they are pathetic against guided missiles of any kind...

The title for most dangerous ship would probably go to the Azdgari warship, since the Azdaras can be a real pain in the butt and it is fast enough to keep up with some of the other ships.

My favorite of the choices listed would have to be the Crescent warship, simply because it is neutral (no inherent gövt tag) and so you can go anywhere and not get shot at by the AI ships (unless you've got a bad legal rating). My favorite overall, though, is the Zidara (which was somehow left out of the choices, probably because it doesn't have enough shields to be considered a "heavy" warship.

I think (if you guys know me, this is no surprise) that the UE Cruiser is the best ship in the game. If you make a rough comparison, the UE Fighter is to the V. Heavy Fighter and the V. Interceptor, the UE Destroyer and the UE Carrier are to the V. Frigate, the UE Cruiser is to the V. Cruiser and V. Dreadnought (if, in fact the Dreadnought should even be counted). Clearly, as has been stated several times before, the UE Cruiser is better. The only time I have ever seen a UE ship being destroyed by a Voinian ship is when there are 2 V. Frigates and a V. Cruiser against a UE Destroyer (which is obviously unfair). The Igazra isn't bad, but when the damage that phase cannons do against armor is considered, it really has to take 2nd place to the UE Cruiser.

Obviously a UE Cruiser could kill many Voinian Cruisers(especially if you know how to manuver right) but The Azdgari Warship could kill the zidagar and Igazdra(not at the same time) so it depends who your fighting.
