"What is it?" Carnotaur asked the lieutenant.

"Our patrols in the Tinak system discovered a cloaked probe scouting out there fleet (when an Azdara accidentally collided with it). The probe was destroyed, but we think there may be more."

"Could they be preparing to invade the Tinak system?" Carnotaur asked.

"Maybe. Our sensor array at Rizgarik (If you read one of my earlier posts, the Azdgari already had this sensor!) detected a large fleet buildup in a nearby Raman system. We think they may be preparing to attack us."

"Put our entire fleet on alert. Send 40 more Azdgari warships to the new sector. Prepare to send another 50 if needed. Contact the Igadzra. Tell them to send some of their Igazras over here." Carnotaur ordered.

"Shoud I contact the Zidagar?"

"Yes, tell them to start assembling a large fleet that we may need to stop the Ramans if they invade us. Also, start working on plans for the invasion of their space. Once they initial attempt is beaten, we will take the offensive. How do our disruptor beams fair against their ships?" Carnotaur asked.

"The Azdgari patrol that destroyed that drone found that Disruptor beams work exceeding well against their shields."

"How are our efforts exploring the space to the south of the New Sector going?" Carnotaur asked.

"So far we have colonized two planets. We are still working on getting to the others."

"Good. Contact Rooster, Oasa, and Daedalus. Tell them of the situation and order them to start amassing fleets to stop the Ramans. Now go!" Carnotaur ordered.

Rama's map is fine, Carno. I just misunderstood. And no wonder you never knew of the Ancara, Rama! You're way south of them. Ok, Corocian fleets have repositioned to the new borders.

Rooster, aboard the Zodiac plans for decisive action. Buba sits with him in the conference room. Rooster: "We just don't know enough about their society. Someone has to get in." Buba: "Most of the galaxy is unaware of these new discoveries, and only our forces here on the line know about the Ramans. We lost all our best people at the Battle of Malcontent against the Ancara. That leaves you and i." Rooster: "It's a good idea, and no one else would be stupid enough to go. Let's do it!"

Rooster and Buba went to the bay after notifying the fleet they were leaving. They both marveled at the C.X.S. Pultaq in the bay. This was an expiremental fighter, with on command slipstream, photon charges, subspacial cloak, and many other various marvels of the technology brought forth by the Corocian/Oasan Private Expo held on Earth. They boarded it and brought it out of the bay. Buba: "Particle masking online, slipstream prepping." Rooster went in back to a cylindrical containment like that on the Ancara Nexus. He inserted a slipcrystal a quarter of the way into the slot. two sets of locking mechanisms hovered above it.

Rooster: "Ready!" Buba: "Activate slipstream charge, authorization Buba Ganoosh, High Lieutenant, Corocian Alliance, Slip 4364 Kappa Slip!" The first pair of lock attached to the crystal, and a klaxxon was heard. Rooster: "Active slipstream charge, authorization Rooster Pultaqui, High Commander, Corocian Alliance, Slip 3267 Gamma Slip!" The klaxxon toned three times, and the second pair of locks attached. Buba: "Engage slipstream!" He pressed a green button on the console and the locks pushed the slipcrystal the rest of the way into the slot. Subspace screamed around them as the ship shot into a slipcorridor. The masking would keep the corridor from being located, and their cloak would protect them after in normal space.

The ship passed through most of Raman space relatively quickly. Rooster: "Best to try the capitol on Xanu, eh?" Buba nodded. The ship screamed as it reentered normal space in Xanu cloaked. They passed through the many huge Raman ships unnoticed. Coming down on the planet, Rooster noticed a grouping of population on the eastern hemisphere away from the capitol areas. It seemed to be relatively unadvanced. They got clothes appropriate for the area from a farmer, who didn't really care who they were for the generous pay he got. Rooster and Buba then set out into the city to learn about this newfound culture....

High Peon: Rama, we have detected another alien ship, this time in our system. We ignored its presence like you ordered. It is strange, it just jumped in as if we couldn't see it. Is it possible that they stupidly landed on our homewerld without even bothering to research our technology.

Rama: Yes, it does show that they are an extraordinarily stupid conglomeration of races. We will easily devour them. Prepare my psychic amplifier suit. I wish to follow them un seen.
Oh yes, one more thing, your report on their evolution is very interesting. It certainly does appear that they stopped evolving many hundreds of years ago. They never thought to kill of the weaker members of their races. They have halted the evolutionary process. I want a shipload of captives from each of their races, begin researching their biochemistry. I suspect they are all corbon based. It would be very fortunate for us if they were.

MODERATION: Subspacial cloak is based on slipstream technology, which you have already noted you don't have. Thus you would not have the capability to detect it. We must stand on the facts that you have not detected Rooster and Buba and that you are as carbon based as we are. Racial advancements are not available in the rules.

The Ramans are a silcon based species. Scientifically Carbon and Silicon are very similar and it has been theorized that a living creature could maybe be made out of silicon. Also, because the Ramans kill all of their weak members they have developed a kind of psychic mental power and have found ways to creat nural amplifiers which increase their psychic range and strength. That is my justification for detecting your ship. I don't know if psychic powers would detect a corridor cloaked ship. I would be much happier if made a short description on how the slip corridor works. Like the distruptor beam works by tearing space and mending it again. I was assuming that you were using the energy from a crystal to disguise your ship. These crystals are remarkable and their energies would probably be able to be detected by psychic. I await your jurisdiction.

The slipstream drive masks itself with the slipcorridor's ion particles. It uses a crystal to form an opening into subspace with a one time burst of energy. After this point the ship glides through subspace without the crystal's input.

Maybe I should just ignore my knowlege of ion particle but ion particles really exist and they would not be hard to detect on sensors. Ions are basically just normal atoms missing a few electrons which were replaced with energy. Since you were using these to cloak your ship you would be detected. as a blob of energized atoms.
But assuming you were in the slip stream and have some kind of navigation device that allows you to land on planets in subspace, then I suppose you could have entered undetected.
I think you should throw out the "let's use a strange kind of hyperdrive as a cloaking device" idea. if you were in the slip stream you wouldn't be able to spy on my fleets.
Basically you can't cloak and gather info in my systems because with the slip drive you can't see anything and with a normal cloak you would be detected by my psychs.

Then, out of nowhere off the souther border of known space, a small warfleet jumps into the Adzari Empire. The massive ships are all but falling apart, and are heavily damaged from some battle. There are only 5 capital ships and 2 fighters. The lead ship hails the Adzari planet:

"We are the only ones of our kind left - the invaders killed everyone else. Please, we only ask for sanctuary so we can rest for a few days and repair our ships. We come in peace."

The Adzari respond...

To Species 8472: I was thinking about making a small plug based on it, but I really ain't sure.

To Rama: Actually, if the cloak worked by phasing the vessel into sub-space, you would never detect it. You cannot scan sub-space. Only the Azdgari can. The Azdgari have been researching sub-space technology and thus have a keen understanding on how it works. They could have given Rooster such a cloaking device.

To Digital Boy: The Azdgari respond that they will gratefully welcome them. Then, once their ships are on Azdgari, Intimidator meets them and asks them who they are and their history.

As for how the disruptor beam works, this is how: It fires a consontrated thin beam of constantly ionized and de-ionized energy at one specific point, creating a rip in sub-space. The beam (which is invisible) then moves a certain distance, create a large tear in sub-space directly in front of the ship that is firing it. A sub-space inverter magneto coil holds this rip in its place to the direct front of the vessel. Once this rip is created, it can be directed at an enemy. The enemy runs into the rip, and is torn apart, either by the actual sub-space rip or the emense amount of energy created. A ship usually stays still when it fires a disruptor beam. However, this is not a must. Because of the inverter coil the ship can move and carry the rip with it. Of course, when it does move, another tiny beam of highly consontrated photonic energy is used to re-seal the rip. When the beam is deactivated, the photonic beam reseals the rip. When used near a black hole, however, the beam would annihilate the system.

"Very good. So far 50 Azdgari warships and 20 Igazras have been moved into the new sector. The Zidagar have amassed a fleet of 70 Zidaras in order to stop the Ramans if they launch a major attack. It is now moving to the Rizgarik system."

"How are our exploration efforts going?" Carnotaur asked again.

"Very well!"

Alien:"Hello Azdgari vessel. This is Izgari Warship 527. I am from the Izgari. We are the Fourth Strand. We occupy a part of space to the south of your new sector. We are not that technilogically advanced. The main thing we have is sensors, cloaks, and homing devices. Now, we must take you to our Viceroy and have him meet you."

It's lunchtime by now, and both move into a glass encased room on the promenade for such occasions. Rooster begins to talk about diplomatic issues, waiting for Patriot to explain his situation...

For now, the colony is a friendly province, currently independant but friendly to the Corocians. We're aididng in the war but I'll need to know just what kind of government the Corocians have before joining. So for now, just tell me how the war is going.

The Azdgari captain then fills the Izgari captain in on what has happened. The Izgari vessel then escorts the Azdgari warship to the Izgari homeworld. After meeting with diplomats there, the two warships then go back to Azdgari. Intimidator meets with a few Izgari diplomats, and they set up an alliance. However, the Izgari are not very strong, and so it once again falls on the Azdgari to be the main superpower and do most of the fighting.
