Please help me, all you lot have been talking about doing missions for the Voinians, yet I cant work out how to join them. any tips?

Pax in Dogovor. A Voinian will give you a mission were you have to disable a Freight-Courier.
After that, head to any Voinan planet for a cargo mission. Do a lot of Voinian Cargo missions (they pay VERY well) and eventually you'll get some military missions.

And if you've done the UE missions where you resuce the defector from Pax Station then you can't get the Voinian missions. You can however do the UE/Hinwar objective and then still manage to get the Voinian missions, but you'll never be able to complete them due to changes in the galaxy.

Alien: At least in version 1.0.1 you can do the UE/Hinwar objective and then still start the Aid The Voinians! missions. The bit that blocks those missions off from the player is only set once the Rescue Voinian Defector From Pax Station mission is completed.
And yes, I am sure of this.

The first time I got the Voinian missions I was doing the "Rescue the Defector" missions. But I think you have to do the rescue the defector missions to do the rest of the UE missions. You may be able to do the Defector missions and then the Voinian missions, but you would have to accept the Voinian mission and keep it in your mission log for the entire time.

The bits for the UE/Hinwar Objective and the Voinian missions are completely unrelated. Same goes for the Objective and the Rescue Defector missions. You do not need to do the Rescue Defector missions or the Dreadnought string to get the Objective string. The only way to screw up getting the Voinian missions is to COMPLETE the Rescue Defector mission. That mission is the one that sets the bit blocking the Aid The Voinians! missions, not the objective.
You cannot complete the Voinian missions if you complete the objective however since some of the locations you need to either go to are no longer Voinian territory.
