Following on from the thread "FH - Rigel Dissidents Mission", I recently completed the Lindi Van Roth "Take my three fighter pilot girls, storm a facility, rescue some people and return to New Venus" mission - expecting some reward of more than credits and a follow-up mission which would take the story on.

I was promised (Martin - you said it!) a new ship SOON...but can't seem to find any new mission strings other than the simple trading ones.

Any hints on how I continue from this point and get a mission that has something to do with the story line? I just spend 30 mins visiting many planets and bars and getting no new missions that seem to relate.

Ha ha...I finally got what everyone was talking about with their obscure references to chess. Thanks for the less-subtle hint Lonevoinian!

So, I won the tournament, helped the dissidents on Rigel, retrieved the ballot boxes and returned them to Faust...all looking good, then was told that I didn't have enough cargo space to accept the mission (having trimmed down my Wanderer to only 10 cargo space...all the rest used for weapons, shields etc) I assume this was the next mission in the mission string...so, I went to Virtue, bought a Buccaneer and then returned to Faust...but the next mission isn't appearing.

Do you get only one crack at getting this mission and have I blown it by not having a ship with sufficient cargo space?

Advice welcome. Thanks in advance

I really don't know which mission you mean here, sorry. It's been a while playing FH. But, my advice is: IF you start over, stick to a wanderer, keep 20 tons of free space, get an excellent combat rating and a really good reputation on Earth, and the guy you're giving a lift after the chess-competition is most important. You have to meet him again.
Don't get upset, the plug is worth some trouble. (My opinion.)

I think the mission I'm referring to is where you transport the ballot boxes to Earth or something similar. I got this far before...but I can't seem to pick up the Reformation Elections string again.

The Election string isn't in the main sequence (as far as I remember), though there may be a join which will mean you have to complete it eventually. The main sequence is Devore – Kidnapping — Emile (and so on)

Thanks Martin. I completed the election string, (with my heart in my mouth as I returned to Earth...how many ships trying to kill me??) and am now back on track with the Devore - Kidnapping scenario...still waiting for my new ship though
