Okay, I've go the NPD, and I'm supposed to explore the nebula. It's the mission where the scientist falls asleep and says 'watch out for certain ores'. What's that mean? And how in the universe do I get to the system in the middle of the nebula?

all this does is open up more systems. you go to the Proxima nebula and, hey look — there's extra systems, mommy! you can go beyond South Tip Station, Pariah, etc. By "watch for ores" he means to land on all the planets you find in the new systems. Eventually you'll land on a planet and it will say something like "you found interesting ores here and you take a sample." kapeesh?

i've been playing EVO the honest way for a few days now... i'm starting to have problems completing my missions. I currently have 3 missions going on which I can't beat:
A mission i got at Knox, telling me to go defeat the Pariah renegade base. When i jump into the Pariah system there's like 30 kraits buzzing around me and i explode after killing about five of them.
Another mission, in the 'explore the proxima nebula' line, asks me to go defeat a couple of renegades in a system south of the previously uninhabited system where the miranu guys started their research centre. Again, at least 30 kraits buzzing around me and i don't stand a chance.
And finally i had to go destray an Adzgari Warship with my Plasma Siphon. I know where it is, but when I jump in i get like 20 adzgari fighters on my @$$. Thank god i have that plasma siphon or i might not even have lived those three seconds.
How do i beat these things? The only thing I can think of is getting myself an Igazra warship with four shield enhancers - but that would cost me 13 million credits which i don't have. So, what's the deal with these missions? Is this supposed to be the 'grand finale' in EVO, being almost impossible to beat? Or is there something I'm missing?

Get an afterburner. Right when you jump into the system, turn around and fly in the opposite direction (what ship are you in, by the way)... the fighters will give chase. when a fighter gets in range, fire at him (you need turrets for this).... you can probably pick off 4 before you get swarmed... when you get the feeling that you're about to be swarmed, use your after burner to get ahead further. Keep doing this.
Another strategy is to use your Siphon.... you need 3 hands for this, but you'll find a way :).... once again, fly away from your enemies... but, turn your ship to face them.... when they get close, target the closest and fire... when they all start getting close, keep targeting and firing, but at the same time, fire your siphon at them. This'll keep them from getting in firing range of you. Eventually, if you keep siphoning them off, you'll be able to pick them all off with your turrets.

Don't worry i'm very aware of the edge-of-the-screen technique... but that bunch of kraits seem to be a lot faster then a crescent warship with an afterburner, as are the adzgari fighters... as for the siphon repelling them, it only works in one direction, not quite helpful when they're swarming up... :frown:
on a side note, i discovered today: turning around on afterburners isn't the best way to go. Flying straight through the system on afterburners is. If you turn around you'll be caught up with much faster. Doesn't really matter, either way gets me killed.

ps. i think the string starts at the most southern miranu planet (the p thing) when someone asks you to go get something from an igadzra planet
The very SECOND you get into the system, you afterburn in the opposite direction from the planet. Make sure you have the miranu accl, speed, and turn upgrades

ummm... 1.25 or 1.5 million each... I forget which. But well worth it.

As for dealing with swarms of fighters... I Use EVO Fixer.. allows me to use all my turrent and gun slots instead of having to share them between the two.
So as soon I jump in.. I turn around, afterburner, and then turn back around! I point in the general direction of the horde, and don't turn while continuely hitting 'closest target'! The result is my forward guns nail all attempting to catch up to me, and my turrents take care of those swirling around me.. hellish, but a lot more simple then that 'keep running' trick...
By the way, remember I'm the powerhouse big-rabbit ship sorta guy.
