I'm British(English to be exact) and i hate the europian union it sucks! Were british and were not Europian we have our royal family that the americans seem to love and we have our pound that is amazingly strong why do we need to join to Europe? We don't! If we need trade we can trade with the americans.
Oh and by the way WE were in the Korien war aswell we had a few thousand troops out ther and our Navy lead the attack so don't forget about us.

Actually, I think the Hinwar are closer to Hungary. The Emalgha might be something like Turkey or something, since they seem like they've pretty much always been independent. That seems to fit the plot better.

I'm Irish, I'm also European, hate to break it to you but because you are part of the area constituted as as Europe and a part of the EU, you are European, What you're sayinbg is like a Brazilian saying that they are Brazilian but that they aren't a Southern American.
Never mind why you need to join Europe, you DID join Europe back in the 70's. You do nead Europe for trade, otherwise you economy would fall apart, you'd also not have many choices for places to go on holiday. I'm sure there are loads of economic reasons etc. but I'm not an economist so I won't go into that.

Well I'm British and I'm also European and I'd just like to say, way to go, Celtic. The sooner these people realise that the 'Empire' or 'Commonwealth' is as obsolete as the 'special relationship', the better. Why should those ex-colonies give a damn after we made our bed back in the seventies and they ended up do so much better than us, anyway. God, the whole debate in Britain (or rather, the absolute lack of any real debate) is so depressing.

Just thought I'd point out that ftl doesn't necissarily imply instantaneous. For it to be instantaneous, it would have to be going at the speed of light squared, which would also make it omnipresent (you'd have to encrypt it pretty well when every receiver in the universe picks it up). Also, because it would only be omnipresent for one moment in time, it would be impossible to observe. More likely the ftl messages are just really fast.

Hey, my dad's from India and my mom's from Bangladesh, but I live in Mississippi and was born in Iowa. I (I'm not speaking for the other Asians who must be somewhere on this board) agree with you about China...but there have been posts in this topic about the Middle East, and that was in Asia last time I checked. True, lots of people live there, but these countries, i.e. India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. are mostly self-contained and don't really muck around with world politics a lot any more, since the 40s, when they gained independence. Actually, then, some Indians went to Germany and joined Hitler against the British whom they hated, and other Indians, who were Marxists, became real chummy with the Soviets. Both of those choices were pretty bad, so these countries don't really risk this kind of thing any more (except in 1970 and 1971, when in Bangladesh's war for independence, the US sent a few ships over against the Bangladeshi rebels, and the Soviets sent troops over on behalf of the Indians and Bangladeshi, but even then, the South Asian countries were just pawns for the bigger Cold War powers). The President of the US just visits these countries every now and then, sends a few chunks of money their way to help them recover from floods, avalanches, etc., and then goes back to more "important" matters.
Anyway, what I mean to say is that some parts of Asia that are more politically and economically important are represented here, and the other parts of Asia are a lot more secluded from the rest of the world (relatively speaking). I understand what you're saying about China, though.

China used their gunpowder for fireworks. Europe developed the use of gunpowder in weapons. Without China's invention, there would still be missiles, rockets, and guns. And even if that statement were true, that wouldn't make them an important part. The Cold War might have still existed without those weapons (it was, after all, a COLD war). Even if America and the USSR had to throw turnips at each other to wage war, they'd probably do it. And with lots of pro-turnip throwing propaganda, too.

If the point of this was to convince me you don't know what you're talking about, you've done it. First of all "the cold war probably would have been as intense that China can't develope its own technology". Huh? Second, the US has produced many more scientists than Oppenheimer, just that he's probably the most famous military one. Even if they only did produce one scientists, how does that make them less involved with the Cold War? They didn't need to produce the technology, or even use it, they just needed to shake their fists at the USSR in a threatening manner.
